Can’t believe we’re only about a month away from the event. Where did this year go?!

I’m looking forward to the 5.4” model.

That's if Apple still hold the September event, they could easily push it to October in order to give more time for the iPhone production to catch up. However Apple do love their September events so it's certainly possible that they will still hold the event in September, which is personally what I'm hoping for.
I really like watching Apple events, September one is usually the best for product announcements and releases.

I've been out of touch with iPhone releases - how long after the announcement until they are actually being shipped ?

There’s no reason they wouldn’t hold a September event, especially being that it’s going to be ‘all-virtual’ anyways, there’s nothing to plan around. What they would do, is push off the actual product release to the consumer with later shipping times. As a matter fact, they’ve already done this before with the 2017 iPhone X that launched in November. All that matters, is if they hit the 4th quarter launch in time for the holiday spree.

This year it can all be somewhat different.
Yea lately it's preorders start the Friday after the conference, and the next Friday retail stores start selling. I will be happy as long as they still have the announcement in early to mid September and give us concrete dates that aren't past early November. None of the nonsense Android "by late fall" or the dreaded "coming soon"

I hope to GOD, they don’t offer the iPhone late September because that would be not cool. Samsung has already come out with a beast! Don’t feel like to be waiting for too long honestly.

I wonder how they will handle the usual queues on launch day. They’re often long already - imagine if you had to socially distance, they’d be a mile long

this is my first year upgrading on iUP so I think I have to visit a store (UK). Although if 12 is late i might buy outright online and then sell or pay off the 11

I have to say in my part of the UK I’ve been around the Cardiff Apple Store on launch day a couple of times in the last few years and there’s been very few queuing. Probably 15 people? I don’t think the buzz is quite what it used to be and with ordering online so much easier, I think most people enjoy getting their launch day iPhones delivered these days. I certainly avoid going into an Apple Store as much as I reasonably can lol. The annual upgrade craze is also much less than it used to be as prices have shot up so much. I don’t think I know a single person who upgrades every year and it used to be really common.

I know that Apple stores are fairly large but this year with the unexpected social distancing in place, it could prove to be a nightmare if too many people show up.

If all the phones are going to be late it's possible that they won't hold a September event because their philosophy has (with only a few exceptions) always been to not show off a product unless it's available for people to buy within a matter of days. The X was one of the few exceptions, but that's because they did have the 8 and 8 Plus to offer, and it didn't really make sense to not reveal the X at the same time.

I would be surprised if they even allow lines at all on launch day. I am also on IUP and usually choose pick up at store so that I can hand them my trade. I hesitate to mail it in and take a chance that an employee would drop it and say it was sent in that way.

I want the 6.7 so I'm not sure that will be release the same time as the others.

The event will be September, release most likely late September and early October for some models.

we should start seeing some leaked working models soon when they ramp up production.
I hope ur right 100%

given the amount of store closures, I’d say ‘lines’ are no longer permissible. It’s a bad idea for any type of crowding and there’s no way you can ‘socially distance‘ hundreds of people waiting outside in line for a smart phone. On top of that, I think when we we start to look at pre-ordering, it’s become vastly popular from the comfort of your own home directly from your computer to pre-order the phone of your choice. As a matter fact, I am willing to believe Apple doesn’t want lines anymore aside from C/19, it just creates too much overwhelming chaos for the staff.

I hope it doesn’t get any worse when it’s time to preorder. More than likely I’ll be having my device delivered to my home or job. I would love to go into an Apple store and receive my device but not with the COVID-19 mess going on right now.

I wish I could stay home that day. I’m an essential worker and only have 1 day off a week which isn’t always the same day.
Request time off in advance ahhh!
