Greettings!
Just dropping by my tiny contribution to the topic. Been using my 13 mini since late october and just today i noticed it had a very tiny gap on right topbeside the speaker. It's not as big as other i've seen here, but i tried to put a piece of paper on it and it did fit. I also noticed that the piece of paper does fit on the whole right side and bottom of the frame, but does not fit on the left.
Thanks for your answers to the topic, i will keep my phone and not going to try the replacement lottery.

I mean do people use their phones? Or do they just stare at them in bright light/various angles to see what if any microscopic aberrations can be seen?

Hi, Yesterday I received 13 pro max. I noticed small gap between frame and speaker.
Gap Is visible in bright rooms or when we going outside, when sun shines.
I can see metal parts. Is this a problem?
iPhone still is waterproof?
In attachment I send a photos

It’s normal, don’t worry about it, the waterproof layer is below the display glass and so isn’t affected by the gap ?

I got mine exchanged. The phone cost me 2k and I will be keeping it for few years. The shiny metal would have bothered me.

Even if it doesn’t affect the waterproof, imagine all the dust and lint that would be trapped in that gaping hole.

My replacement phone has no gap now :)

Even though I can see metal parts?
Thanks for replay :)
Yeah it’s purely cosmetic. The way these phones are made is that every single one will have a gap between the display glass and steel band, whether this is at the top, at the sides, at the bottom. This is so that the glass doesn’t crack when the steel frame changes size due to heat.

Some gaps are just more noticeable, e.g. the one at the top. You can exchange it if it bothers you like the poster above, that’s completely in your right as you should ofcourse be 100% happy with your purchase, but functionally the gap doesn’t affect the phone

I saw other photos and my gap is small. I see this only when i stay in sun shine place and I can only see it from the right angle. I don’t know should i Change my phone because Otherwise problem my phone is perfect. Are you think that every iPhone have this problem at the top?

It’s a lottery - one iPhone will have a smaller gap at the top and a bigger gap at the sides or bottom, and another will have a bigger gap at the top but smaller gap elsewhere.

It’s just that the gap at the top is the only noticeable one, due to the shiny metal!

Don't worry about the gap. like the poster said, all phones have to have a gap somewhere, rather it's on the top, side or bottom. Sure it could be annoying, but there is nothing to be worried about. Just use the phone normally. It's a tool. Even if you do get it replaced and there's no gap on top, I will guaranty you that it will be at the bottom.

the gap is not problem for me, but the worst thing is when i can see metal at the top. Is it normal? Other thing is gap, but other is metal.

If you feel like you’ll worry about it, i’d exchange it if I were you.

That being said, my current 13 pro which shows some shiny metal at a very specific angle has been submerged in water many times now, and everything works perfectly

I can’t change phone. I can only send to service, so i think i should Learn live with it. I see shiny metal at very specific angle too and at very specific Term conditions. Must be very sunny. In normal usage i can’t see it.

Finally !!! I have some believers :)

All it takes is a little push down with your fingers at the top, OCD gone!

Then enjoy the beauty ;)

Time to change the title of this thread 'iPhone 13 Pro: gap at top in between speaker and chassis? With Fix!'
it works but i wonder if i can move the screen with my fingers is the phone waterproof? won't we damage the gasket by accident? or if the seal was not damaged at the factory

No and none shouldn’t be having this issue because there are phones without the gap. My replacement phone has no gap on all sides and that’s how all iPhones should be when customers receive it.

I know some people “don’t mind the gap”, but I think it’s just not fair that some will get gappy phone and some will get no gap where they pay the same price for the same phone.

I have had 3 different phones and they all have the gap. 2 at the top and 1 at the bottom. My lastest one has the gap at the top and the earpiece speaker wiggles around a bit ?

Also I’m pretty sure you do have a “gap” it’s almost impossible to get one without one and every phone at the apple store had one

Yeah I was dumb and exchanged by bottom gap for a top gap and the top gap one the ear piece wiggles around when before it couldn’t due to press fit

I think he means the metal not the screen. However if you had a suction cup you might be able to reposition the display a bit however I wouldn’t recommend it. It might damage the adhesive
I used my fingers. I haven’t gap between speaker and bazel now, but i’’m worried about waterproof, however, I did not take the display out, but only slightly moved my fingers.. i don’t know..
