Not the gap talk again!!! : )

Well I just got back from picking up my two I reserved so apparently there is no limit or they just didn't catch my account one or the other.
Glad you were able to get them. Either that or Apple thinks your just a low risk in potentially reselling lol. It's just weird but I managed to just get one for walk in and this one was perfect.

Argh!
how many times must I repeat this?!?
I held my dam phone in light (ie led flashlight, sunlight etc…) from every angle I could hold it!! AND NO REFLECTIVE METAL WAS VISIBLE!! Unlike my other phone!!

It doesn’t affect the phone’s functionality , it’s an “aesthetic” issue… got it…
let it rest!!! We can agree to disagree and leave it at that! I’m happy …. you’re happy, so why continue belaboring the point??????
But you don’t sound happy just take the phone back you shouldn’t be dealing with gaps on the phone

I did take it back, 2+ weeks ago! And I’m VERY HAPPY with the replacement. It’s perfect, in my eyes! 😂😂

Guys, sorry, I have an iPhone 13 and looking a bit between various websites and forums I learned about this problem regarding the iPhone 13 screen gap. Now I wanted to ask, i not notice a particular space in the iPhone frames outside of a corner. Just trying to insert a sheet of paper into these borders, in some places I notice that the paper enters while in other places on the iPhone no. Do you think it's normal or do I make a return and buy again? Trying to win the lottery since it could be better but even worse?

I love you all. OCD is a real mental problem. So much time wasted by trying to feed your perfection addiction. The truth is you have a problem more so than Apple has a QC problem... Accept it, move on. The only way to beat OCD is to force yourself to disregard subtle imperfections and just live.

"Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), a type of psychotherapy, is effective for many people with OCD. Exposure and response prevention (ERP), a component of CBT therapy, involves gradually exposing you to a feared object or obsession, such as dirt, and having you learn ways to resist the urge to do your compulsive rituals. ERP takes effort and practice, but you may enjoy a better quality of life once you learn to manage your obsessions and compulsions."

Again, I say this with love. Perfection is the enemy of that which is good. <3

Not to sidestep the question but how is your screen? Quality control is not going to get any better until they finally can catch up to demand which will not be for awhile. Right now they are making as many units as they can leading up to the holiday season. Even when caught up, Apples QC has been going downhill. Its just that...a lottery. As you said there are better and worse units out there. Consistency would not be a term used to describe the 13 series of phones. There are also ones that have more than one of the laundry list of issues this year wrong with them. Depends how lucky you feel 🤷‍♂️

I asked only to know if this is a problem only mine or at least it is a widespread thing. Also because I can't insert the sheet of paper in all the edges of the phone but only in some places. Yes, I know it's also a matter of luck but I can't buy and make the phone twenty times, also because it will be released on the 14th in the meantime lol

I don't think anyone really knows just how widespread any of the things pointed out on MacRumors really is. This is such a small sample size of users in the overall big picture. If its actually an issue impacting functionality, Apple would make a statement. Otherwise, tolerances vary for all different aspects of the manufacturing. I'd be willing to bet 9 out of the 10 customers walking in the Apple store are not going to go straight home after their purchase and try inserting paper into the edge of their phone.

Yes, I think exactly like you. But I opened this discussion just to know if I should make the return to apple and buy another one or it is a common thing and therefore it would be useless to waste further time. Also because I repeat in my screen you can't see any distance, the only problem is the sheet of paper stop

if your issue was the gap from the edges of the screen not the earpiece you're probably safe this is what they say screen tolerance from the display glass and the body frame, as long as you can't insert a card you're safe. there are adhesive around the display to prevent dust and water from entering. Mine has an earpiece gap issue you can watch my uploaded video -
. I just hope apple will be aware of this soon, i will keep my device for now probably until 2022 because of demand issue stocks are really low and might be ending with the same gap when i rush it.

Good post. However, When there’s a chunks missing out of my stainless steel frame or half of my white screen is noticeably pink then it’s going back. But yes, slight imperfections should be left alone. Key word slight which is subjective. Lol. 🤣

You get the gap at top or bottom. Pick your choice. 🤣

Sat in my local Apple Store yesterday and had multiple managers inspect my 13 mini for the gaps I saw. Many of them saw what I saw and were surprised. They checked the other 13’s in the store and also saw gaps on those units. They offered to replaced the device, but given the 50/50 nature of it all I declined.
Seems to be a tolerances question overall, both on the manufacturing front as well as your own personal tolerance for the hassle of swapping devices a number of times potentially.
Widely agreed that this isn’t a waterproofing issue, and if sand or dust gets in there and messes up the device, I’ve got AppleCare and a detailed file that I can now point to.

Moving on with my life 🙂

That's pretty much where things are at this point. The chances of your replacement or repurchase being any better are very slim. To your point, that's why they provide the standard year warranty and if you have AppleCare there is no worries. Not worth the time and energy IMO. Enjoy!

Posted in a similar thread…

Update:
I went to the apple store today to have a genius check out the gap… both he and apple support agreed that it was a defect in manufacturing and offered to replace it.
So I turned in my 1TB SB iPhone for a 512gb SB… it only took 5 hours (that’s a whole story!).. but I am happy since the replacement is PERFECT!!!!

I hit the Jackpot, 1 in 2 phone attempts!!

sooooooo if you dont give 2 ****s, then god bless you!!
BUT if you’re OCD like me , and the gap above the notch glares at you like the broad side of a barn, and are within your 14 day return window, don’t hesitate to try and replace it!!!
The gap is NOT fine…

New notch vs old notch:

It’s crazy! I kept a clean graphite pro max on standby just in case the return didn’t work out.One would think, but they didn’t offer.
i got a question so I saw this on my iPhone 13 pro max camera idk if it’s a scratch I don’t think so cuz I took good care and I haven’t had it around any sharp objects this is what it looks like

I have now got the phone on service twice. And the service technician didn't found that there isn't any gap at all. I told them to do this too, put a A4-paper to see if it goes deep. And well, judge it for yourself.

I will see what Apple's experts have to say this because I'm kind of tired of all this.

Your choice. Have the gap at top or bottom or sides.
I will know the final judgment from Apple Sweden themselves by the end of the week. They have all vital information about my case. So far everyone told this story differently, but now my case will be fully investigated.

Good luck. As there will be some sort of gap somewhere along the frame to glass panel, top, bottom, left or right. If there was no gap the screen would crack due expansion and contraction. It also aids for replacing of the screen.

Internet is internet, I'm aware of it. I just wanted to go to the bottom with it. That's all.
