Warning: this is NOT a troll post, as a matter of fact is just a question that i have and i'm serious.

Why don't you guys instead of complaining about battery life, rent an iphone and exchange itj for a new one each two years? i mean what do you think about that? i've been told it is "cheaper" at then end.

Is that true?
Not sure what you mean by "rent." Both the iPhone upgrade program and the carrier financing options are just loans. You are still buying the device. If you are talking about the iPhone Upgrade Program, you are still buying the phone, but it is on a two-year loan payment cycle and you can start a new loan by returning the phone after a year. It's definitely not cheaper because it includes AppleCare+ in the price. Buying a phone at full MSRP, skipping AppleCare+, and selling it or even trading it in at the end of the year would be a cheaper option. But if you were going to get AppleCare+ anyway, the iPhone Upgrade Program is a good option. I've never tried it because I always wondered if the 12 payment thing would cause me to miss launch day and end up dealing with the long shipping delays that usually happen in October-December. Anyone have experience with it? Can I always get a new phone on launch week?

My iPhone 14 Pro Max launch day unit is sitting on 95% battery health. According to 3UTools’ battery section it’s a Sunwoda battery manufactured on 04/08/22. Pretty unimpressed as the battery health has dropped from 99% to 95% in the space of 2 months, whereas the 13 Pro I had before this only dropped by 1% in the whole time I had it.

Glad I’m not the only one with the issue though.

Edit: My battery dropped from 96% to 94% in 3 days.

WOW! 96% to 94% in 3 days? Are you running iOS 17 beta?

I wonder how many are using the always on display? I turned it off the day I got my phone. The people who have it on could be experiencing deeper discharges than they would’ve if they had it off. Maybe this is contributing to the faster degradation?

On that note, someone like me who rarely uses 15-20% of battery per day vs someone like my wife who drains their phone down to 0% before the end of the day - she has 94% health while I'm still 103% (she also has over 2x the cycles).

I’m at 92%. People seem upset by this number. Is this a big deal? Is that low? As an annual upgrader it ultimately doesn’t affect me
It might become upsetting for the non-annual upgraders, when for the first 10 months the maximum capacity constantly stays between 4420 - 4450 mAh, then starting the 11th month it degrades at a faster pace and drops 4 - 5 mAh every other day. Make one just wonder if iOS 16.6 might have something to do with that :)

I just dropped to 90% today. I bet I am at 88% once the new phone is released...

My IPhone 14 ProMax was at 100% through at least May, but in the last 4 weeks has now dropped to 94%. This is according to the “Battery Health” in the settings app.

People care way too much. It doesn’t matter regardless. If you upgrade every year it doesn’t matter. It you don’t upgrade every year, and you update iOS, it doesn’t matter, as iOS updates obliterate battery life regardless of battery health. If you don’t update iOS, it doesn’t matter, as the device will have like-new battery life regardless of battery health.

I am at 87% but I don’t really care as I have apple care+. Will upgrade every year and pass the previous year’s phone to my children who will use it for 2 more years. During these 3 years, it will definitely drop below 80%, allowing me to claim a replacement set or battery replacement, which offsets the cost of the AC+.

Not quite a launch model but got it at the beginning of this year. Never charged wireless, always wired with a mix of apple 5w charger and apple 20w charger. I’m a fairly light user, usually 40-50% battery left at the end of the day. Try not to charge it up past 80% but sometimes it’s unavoidable. Wish they’d let you choose a max charge limit.
