Why would you want it to start at a higher price? So many people with iPhones don't even use 128 GB and if they do it is cheaper to pay for iCloud. I prefer $999 so I could buy it on day 1 and sell it back by July or August for around $850-999 before the new iPhone launch.

Because only by having the higher margin with Pro could the non-Pro iPhone stick with the current price.

So minor/incremental upgrades from my 13. My otherwise perfect XS would still run everything fine if not for that godawful modem that made me replace it. Anyway, it's a good thing, people no longer need to constantly upgrade.
This. Every time I got upset with Tim’s series of lazy iPhones, I remind myself it’s good for the environment and good for my bank account. Just look at the Android world. The phone makers are trying harder because there’s real competition. Even Google is more innovative and going at a faster clip on their os. Apple has simply gone fat and lazy sitting pretty because of their past successes. They know that with their huge install base that’s stuck in the ecosystem, millions will buy each successive iPhone no matter what.

iPhone 16 Plus $899 with 256GB.
Yes!
I love the 14 Plus - it has the longer battery life than my 14 Pro Max.

Plus it's much lighter than the 14PM.

Can't wait for the 16 Plus at $899 to replace my 14 Plus....

Perfect timing as my Apple Card payments end at the same time...

Which leads me to something I want to rant about but I forgot. iPhone 16 Plus will have less battery capacity than iPhone 15 Plus ? Seriously ?

One was hoping with new MLA OLED screen the 16 Plus could have even better battery life. But right now the rumors suggest Apple is going to trim it down.

Except the iPhone Pro's hold there own against any of Google's or other manufacturers offerings. Sometimes Pixel wins, sometimes iPhone wins. The world is not black and white and to say Apple are being Fat and Lazy is absolute BS.

Please elaborate how Pixel are going with Spacial Video or equivalent. Or maybe elaborate how Google are so far ahead of Apple, or maybe just stop the lazy single dimension view of the mobile phone ecosystem. No?

Probably happen with that base USB-C Pencil. Or you can buy one 0f the many 3rd party pencils which already work.
No third party pencil for the iPhone, including the powered ones, has the precision of the Apple Pencil on an iPad, unfortunately. You can't draw diagonal lines slowly or draw anything slowly without massive stair stepping.

Whoa, I saw the battery capacity and was shocked that they trimmed down the 16 Plus capacity.

All I know comparing apples to apple is that my 14 Plus outlasts my 14 Pro Max by about 25%.

Hope the 16 Plus has a decent battery life like my 14 Plus ?

Pathetic. Tim Crook has reused practically the same design for the iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and now the upcoming 16. Why not just call it what it really is, which is the iPhone 11sssss?

Tim Crook saves money on R&D by reusing practically the same design, does not pass those savings on to consumers by lowering prices, does not even keep prices the same (which would be bad enough), but rather actually increases prices!

iPhone 11 is absolutely NOT the same as the following generations. It is done on the basis of iPhone XR. 12,13,14 were pretty much identical (except the cameras and the notch size), 15 took that design language and smoothened it out. I think we will see a couple of more iterations of 15-based design with slight modifications and possible increases in size.

Does Apple have a folding phone? Stylus? Camera (stills) is not the best out there. Quick charging? Expandable storage? Free/more cloud storage? Took some arm twisting to get Apple to switch to usb c. Hopefully the justice dept or the eu can nudge Apple towards a more competitive direction.

Apple non pro is priced at some flagship phones and is definitely not competitive. Siri is ****** bad. Android os is generally much better at AI especially at photo editing for the average users.

So you can’t name a phone that beats iPhone in every (or even almost every) metric?

Not having a folding phone or stylus isn’t lazy. Having more free or cheaper storage isn’t lazy, it’s greed.

How many flagship phones have expandable storage? None? How many phones can beat Apples video camera? How many phones can actually beat Apples still camera (1 or 2 maybe). So based on your own comments, which phone beats Apple on video, stills, expandable storage? None?

Clearly non Pro iPhones are competitive based on their sales.

Siri does exactly what I need it to do. I’m not sure what you want it to do that it can’t. Can you give an example, because I fail to see what you’re talking about.

Android is not better at AI. AI isn’t tied to an operating system. I will concede Samsungs “circle" is well implemented. But it isn’t Android, it’s just Google. I can do the exact same search on any phone as long as I have Google. It’s just not as well implemented as Samsungs (nice) gimmick.

Prove your claims and I will admit I am wrong. If you don’t, I will assume you are wrong.

Cool, but I think I'll keep my 15 Pro at least a few more years unless Apple does something interesting like a folding iPhone.

The only thing I care about with anything beyond my 13 Pro is satellite messaging. Being able to (possibly) end my inReach subscription is enticing. I spend a decent amount of time in backcountry and don't have service 90% of the time.

I like being disconnected, but it would be nice to check-in occasionally.

But you know?
In 2001 that Ti really was something.

A lovely machine… until the display cable started fraying. And Apple support just went *shrug* "Cry us a river…"
But was it really a laptop completely made out of Titanium alloy like the alloy used for the iPhone 15 Pro? Or was it just some pieces of the shell?

I use an iPhone 6 for special applications (running camera diagnostics) and it is so beautiful, thinner and lighter than even the iPhone 12 mini, a total joy to use. Steve Jobs and Jonny Ives would be horrified at the bulky, ugly, heavy phones that Apply now make. Looking at the current iPhones, and rumours of the next ones, is like looking at those folks eating eating eating eating at baseball games. The Apple mantra is "bigger is better" ... just how wrong can you be? Time to downsize and learn about an important topic in Apple's history ... called "design".

I have no idea. 🤷🏻‍♂️
When I ran to go buy it in 2001, it was a Ti dream machine and not made from black plastic.

Back then in the antediluvian age we really didn't have any places like MacRumours to come and nitpick.

Bear in mind though that Steve Jobs' Reality Distortion Field was at 100% power.

I agree with you... but the general public feel differently. Across the industry consumer money is directed towards ever larger devices.
