Unlikely to keep the device long enough, but curious if most 15 PMs live up to Apple's 1000 cycles/80% claim.

Yeah I am not gonna lie I am pretty disappointed with how fast the battery degrades with the iPhone 15 pro max models. Mine is a launch day phone with the battery originally being new in August 2023 and first usage being in September. My iPhone 14 pro max battery health had barely degraded by the time I traded it in for the 15 pro max. I believe this time last year my iPhone 14 pro max was still at 97% battery health after almost a year of usage.

My launch day 15 pro max was just at 94% last week just dropped to 93% yesterday. I don't even consider myself a heavy phone user and only have 209 cycles. I used low battery mode yesterday when it hit under 30% charge apparently this damages the battery and degrades it instantly I guess cause my battery health dropped from 94 to 93 like that.

I am not upgrading this year since I upgraded back to back with the 14 pro max and 15 pro max. I do have AppleCare so I am stuck waiting until the battery health drops to 79% so they can replace it. But given how fast this is degrading now, that probably will happen in the next month or two lol.

Also, to be clear overall, I am happy with the iPhone 15 Pro Max and I do make it a full 8 hours or more a day on a single charge. Just disappointed with how fast the battery health has degraded.
I’m with you on how horrible the 15PM battery is. I have a launch day device with 336 cycles and at 88% battery capacity. I’m not upgrading this year, and I’m now running this battery into the ground to hit 79% to get a battery replacement.

15 Pro, first use Oct 2023, 113 cycles, 100% health
Have lived in an area with good reception and thus great battery life. I got by with the 80% charging limit there, charging once a day in the morning. Now live in an area with poor reception and the battery drains much faster. Using optimized charging now on a 5W charger. Never let the phone sit at either end of the charge to limit crystallization at the anode and cathode, which degrades the battery.

Just noticed that my launch day 15PM dropped to 97% at 206 cycles, after hanging at 99% for a few months.

I've got a 15 pro at 551 cycles and 90% capacity. Dropped from 93% to 90 after the last update to 17.6.1

Interesting I’ve turned off all charge limits and I’m higher. Always fast charge too!
you are! I don't have any charge limits on either. I fast charge as well. I'm convinced part of the reason for me is magsafe chargers - I have one from Belkin and one from Mophie. I use these at home and there's always a lot of heat. I also have a magnetic Anker charger but I use that rarely. There's a ton of heat from that too. But the convenience of those outweigh having to change habits.

iPhone 15p.

I have noticed heating issues maybe that's the reason for degradation. It still gets me through the day. Hope 16p will fix the thermal issues.
