after a years usage my battery capacity is 93 percent it was at 97/98 at one point but it keeps dropping? started using this pro 15 max last october. is it because of the new software update thats draining the battery? read somewhere that apple will be releasing another patch soon to fix the issue. i do charge my phone on the anker wireless as well.

Picked up a used 15 Pro 512gb, showing 91% batt health at 383 cycles.
I've set limit to 80% but do you think it would be worth investing in a new battery from Apple? I don't change my phones often, this is an upgrade from my trusted XS.

Ultimately there's no right answer to this it depends on you. 91% is just under half way through the battery life according to Apple. Can you live with the battery life its giving you in real world usage and time to charge to get to that usage ATM? If you can then don't spend the money now. Wait till its deteriorated to the point where you cant live with it and then get the battery changed. Alternatively if you just want the comfort of knowing you have a new battery then change it now.

I think it will be a lot better than what I was getting from my XS, that thing needed charging a couple of times during the day depending on usage of course. Think I will run this close to 85% SOC before opting for the battery replacement or will wait to see what Apple bring out for the 17 Pro next year.

The main thing is to ensure that the phone does what you need it to. If at any point you feel it doesn't then see what can be done by changing the battery or should they be on the next gen of phones by that time, upgrading.

I've never got my head around people making definitive statements as to the right thing to do. How can one possibly know what's right for someone else complete set of use cases. Even someone who has a 15 pro max might feel its worth the upgrade to the 16 pro max because they want for example the extra battery life or the small improvements made. Those might not be worth it to me or you but to someone else they might be. how much value we all place on something is very very different reflecting or different wants and needs.

Enjoy the phone. Have a blast. They're lovely phones.

Feel like the battery life on this phone has always sucked 😒. Seems like it does seem to be on the low end of the health to charge cycle ratio. Ugh.

Thinking of upgrading to the 16pro just for the extra boost in battery life.

Been using iPhone 15 Pro Max 512GB since launch day with 80% charge limit and I am already at 92% battery health with 306 charge cycle. The battery charge limit doesn’t seem to help much LoL. Oh and I am on iOS 18.0.1 as of this writing.

Usually use it throughout the day with out charging. Typically take it off the charger around 6/7 am and it goes back on between 10pm-1am every night. Recently have been just charging it whenever through out the day as I’ve been needing to use it a lot. Have used the 80% percent a few times and 90 percent of the time use “optimize charging!” Am surprised about the cycle count. Also I charge it with my 2019 16”MBP charger.

At this point, I’m draining the battery down until it dies and then charge it back to 100%.
I have a launch day 15PM with 328 cycles and 88% battery life. I have optimized charging enabled, but I use my iPhone to listen to music at work with my AirPods, browse social media, text and talk until I get home from work, and then I use my iPad Mini 6. I do use a Mophie 45W charging brick at night to charge, so I blame that and charging before getting off work everyday for the degradation of my battery. I’m keeping mine for another year as well, and will be getting a battery replacement at 80%.

Not doing bad, 1% for every 50 cycles, no limits.

Nov 2023 phone, 91% at 353 cycles. Bought a third party small battery pack to keep my phone topped up if I’m gonna be out all day instead of getting the battery replaced.

Got a ugreen 5000mah mag safe powerbank for EUR 25 with my 518 cycle 83% Battery and all is good. This thing gives plus 50-65% capacity and can even hold the charge with video filming so the Phone never dies. In August i guess i will have under 80% health then Care+ will give me a new Battery and in september I will sell th 15PM and buy the 17PM or Ultra or whatever with the biggest screen and battery and best cameras.

Battery was holding steady at 100% capacity until the summer months when it started to steadily dip. This mirrors my 14 Pro experience closely I recall.

98% of the time I only charge overnight, wired with a 20W charger. Optimized charging kicks in except for when I’m at my parents.
