USB-C is one of the best updates this year. We can finally have one single type of cable to use all the devices regardless of manufacturer.
I can't imagine being so concerned about having to carry around a different cable type. Guess I just have more important things going on. UCB-C isn't a selling point to me. In some ways, I think it's a downgrade. And I don't know about you, but I'll still need to bring the exact same number of cables when traveling as I do now because I don't have the time to charge one device at a time. So personally...this solves absolutely nothing and offers absolutely zero benefit 🤷‍♂️

And I say this as an Apple fan...if a freaking charging port change is "one of the best updates this year" that speaks volumes about how lackluster this whole update is.

iPhone 15 Pro crushes the 14 Pro in significant ways:
  • Lighter: Yes. It's about time.
  • Camera: Really introduces features that matter. Smart portrait mode. 120mm zoom mode. 24 mpix high-res standard photos. 48 is too big for many applications. Improved stabilization. This is a camera upgrade that matters, and it makes this new phone worth getting.
  • Action button looks really useful. One-click access to the camera? Yeah.
  • Rounded edges. So Apple listened to--or heard--the complaints about how uncomfortable these flat-edged, heavy phones are/were. About time.
There's more. But the 15 Pro is on my buy list. What were your takeaways?
If 240g is heavy 221g will still be heavy.

So… how much lighter is it? 10-15 grams? How much bigger is the battery? The stacked batteries are held off until 16 isn’t it?

From what has been shown I might end up going for a iPhone 15. My XR still runs fine but is old.

When I buy a new phone it is a big upgrade from previous versions. ;)

The same cable that came with the iPad. With an Apple charging brick
If charging is inconsistent then the either the cable, charger or device could be faulty.

My previous 2020 Macbook was not charging properly. I thought the laptop was faulty but it was the charger. Apple kindly replaced it out of warranty and it fixed the issue.

I charge my iPad using the Macbook charger and sometimes my GF’s chromebook charger with a built-in cable. Both fast charge the iPad every single time without issues.

Yeah, the telephoto in the 15 Pro Max is nice, but I don't want a phone that large.

Let's talk about this 24 megapixel photo mode... The standard iPhone 15 has it too. The standard iPhone 15 has the same 48mp camera and same A16 chip that the iPhone 14 Pro got last year... Why don't we have 24mp photos enables on the 14 Pro with iOS 17?
You are basically getting an iPhone 15 pro with regular iPhone pricing. Not a bad deal I just says.

A very underwhelming “upgrade”
Agreed. Great for folks on a 12 or earlier line, 13 line is borderline. And you can say that every year about a 3 year old version. For the first time ever, I feel no desire to go for an annual upgrade. I'll be sticking with my 14PM until the 16 line, I believe.

I'm actually going to miss the mute switch. I have an action button on my AWU that can be programmed to do things, so one of the phone is superfluous (to me).

Id upgrade over my current 14 pro max if i was working in the film industry but im not. My current phone takes really good photos and videos as it is.

USB C...should have done it years ago. Its nice...but for me airdrop is all i need for now. Glad its finally being done though.

Titanium...could take it or leave it. Its not a big deal to me at all.

Programable Action Button...Meh. Again nice, not complaining but no reason to run out and buy a new phone over!

The 14 Pro Max can get me by another year no problem!

I honestly believe anybody preferring lightning over usb c as a technology must be crazy.

Its faster, it’s used by a gazillion of devices (Apple ones included), it’s way easier to find somewhere to charge should you need it.

Can you name a single thing for which lightning should be better than usb c?
