It's a "skip" because you're literally upgrading from a nearly identical one year old phone. What did you expect out of a single year? I'm coming from an 11 Pro Max and it's an enormous upgrade. Wait a little longer and it wont "feel the same" at all.
I do agree with you but with yearly upgrades it actually works out cheaper for me for some reason lol I do get yearly updates are not for everyone but I wish they done more, batt life is a huge thing they don’t address and heat management

maybe it's still indexing? Mine got really hot yesterday.
The whole indexing myth yes it does some stuff in the back group but doesn’t last long, the issue is the 3nm cheap isn’t anymore efficient and they have no heat management, iPhones have always had the same issue it can’t handle heat well, I can’t even play call of duty mobile on 14 pro max or the newer one with 2min the screen dims and whole is red hot, they say this phone can play aaa games and that’s lies no chance you would need a air con unit on the back of it, even max tech spoke about it. The only thing I like is the usb c and that wasn’t even what Apple wanted to give us, they have gotten lazy; no new charging speeds or MagSafe speed no better batt tech nothing major or groundbreaking, they spend more time about the environment than speaking about real tech upgrades

Does anyone know if the camera on the 15 plus for example, is that the same or as good as the camera on the 14 pro?

It’s a smaller sensor that’s unique to the regular 15 models. Larger than the 14 was, but smaller than the 14 Pro models. In good lighting you’ll likely have a hard time telling the difference unless you look closely especially as the 15 models this year have much better HDR and less aggressive processing.

My impressions so far:
1. Feel is great. Best iPhone since the 11 Pro. The straight edges were cool, but just not practical.
2. Weight decrease is super noticeable.
3. USB-C is a game changer for the iPhone. Have files on a random flash drive or SSD? plug it in. Need to output to a larger screen? Plug it in. Just thinking of traveling...you can now stream TV from your phone to a random hotel TV using an HDMI dongle. Could you do some of these things before? Yeah - but with expensive, single use adapters only usable with the iPhone. Now if you have a mac, you already have a ton of accessories.
4. 5x camera is great - I've already taken more shots with it than the 77mm. 77mm was just too close to the main camera in zoom reach, enough so that usually the main camera would take a better photo just by cropping (Especially in low light.) 5x actually gives unique framing possibilities that can't be achieved on foot. The stabilization for video is also great.
5. The action button is nice, but hopefully will get software improvements + customizations in the future. I'd love to be able to define single tap actions that only happen while the phone is unlocked (IE open a shortcut menu while locked on single tap, and open camera on long press.) I'm still in the phase of attempting to flick the mute switch though every time I put my phone into my pocket, I'm sure that'll wear off soon 😂

One CAN totally play aaa games, but one just needs to break it up into five minute sessions.

I know what you mean about the color shift/agreed on the uniformity. My 14” M1 MacBook Pro already has blue tint working its way in from the left and right sides…
That sucks and IMO deserves an immediate trip to Apple support. We do not pay premium MBP pricing for "blue tint working its way in from the left and right sides…"

Also note that just having your complaint on file may matter down the road to you if Apple decides they have a real issue that they need to own up to.

@IconIc215 I’m dying to know what your decision was regarding color 🤣

Also, I know the difference in weight isn’t huge in terms of the numbers, but can we just appreciate how light the 15 PM actually feels compared to the 14 PM? I absolutely love it.

Might be back to desktops for me if this gets worse.

But this iPhone is GREAT!

I feel you. Sorry for your 14” MBP! Finding a decent computer monitor is hard, and nearly impossible if you like glossy finish. I want to give the new Cinema Display a try, but something stops me. I’m also super excited for iPad Pros to go AMOLED next year, I’ll try to make a complete move of all my home computing needs to iPadOS and also minimize external screen use to embrace absolute mobility.

I largely agree. I wrote up my opinion here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/iphone-15-plus-and-15-pro-max-first-reactions.2404124/

I actually think the 14 Plus is the sleeper phone to get for those who want both portability and a larger screen.
This recommendation doesn’t make sense. They’ve made so many improvements to the 15 plus that it’s easily worth the hundred dollar difference in price. The better cameras, the USB-C, the frosted back glass, and the A16 bionic chip. Not to mention the Wi-Fi 6-e, Qualcomm X70, and didn’t they improve the U1 chip also or was that just in the pros?

so yeah, 15 plus>14 plus

The picture with the back glass looks like u got alot of gaps between the glass and the frame.
Hmm just examined and it looks it’s the lighting in that pic. Doesn’t look like that in real life.

Thanks for pointing it out

Another year, another iPhone launch!

I rocked up at 8am this morning and picked up my iPhone 15 Pro Max at the Apple Store in Sydney Australia - Natural Titanium for my partner and Blue Titanium for myself.

There were separate queues for walk ins and pick up and they checked people’s timeslots and ID before they let you in the line. There was a massive big crowd but they let people into the store very quickly. Lots of employees ready to serve everyone.

First impressions:
  • LOVE the Blue Ti. It appears mostly navy. Very close to (but a shade or two lighter than) the Midnight M2 MBA.
  • Natural Ti looks much better in person than in photos / YouTube videos. It's got a slight golden hue and has a raw metal look to it. I don't have the AW Ultra anymore but I feel it would be a perfect match. It looks and feels very premium
  • The phone feels SO MUCH LIGHTER than the 14 PM. I know the weight is only 8-10% less but Apple has redistributed the weight and now it doesn't feel like a brick. It is also visibly shorter and narrower (small difference in actual mm but you can see it straight away when put side by side).
  • Rounded edges on the 15PM makes the phone feel easier to hold without a case with better grip. The edges don’t dig into your hands like the 14 PM did.
  • Action button is cool. It is responsive and you get a haptic feedback to tell you it’s active. The press is shorter than I thought but should still prevent accidental presses
  • Bezels are noticeably smaller than the 14 PM.
  • Belkin Ultra Glass 2 protector has no notch at the top, and runs to edge of the viewable display, stopping at the bezel (i.e. No concerns with “curve” at edges”
  • iPhones came with iOS 17.0 installed. It prompted me to update the software first before I could proceed with transferring data from my old iPhone over.
Setting it up now and will post more impressions soon.

Pics below. Pic with three phones are 14PM Space Black, 15PM Blue Ti and 15PM Natural Ti.
Cases include Apple FineWoven in mulberry, Mujjo burgundy leather and Otterbox Figura case.

Bonus photos and video of the Apple Store in Sydney when it was about to open at 8am. Everyone was so excited!

Happy to take any questions!

Would you indulge me by uploading a pic of the Blue in the colorful Otterbox Figura case? The pic of the Natural Titanium in the case looked super nice. https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...sions-and-photos-thread.2403756/post-32529656
