Not very good. The mini didn’t sell very well . I think it would be the regular sizes.

Ultra Mini isn’t happening because it doesn’t have the space for the cameras. But this might increase the odds of a pro mini in the future. If the regular sized pro is not going to try to keep up with the Ultra’s features, perhaps the Pro’s hardware could be packaged in a mini enclosure.

Yes, the Mini didn’t sell well, but neither has the Plus. This suggests size wasn’t the issue, but price/features. I think a mini Pro, priced between the regular iPhone and iPhone pro would be compelling.

We’ve had times where we were blindsided by what apple offered and this will be one of them. I think the 15 Ultra will have the (surprise) capacitive volume buttons, better waterproofing, even bigger ram than the 15 pro, better battery, the periscope cam and some other feature that will differentiate it from the 15 pro. Think of small but somewhat big upgrades, i.e. screen tech on 11 vs 12.9” iPad Pro.

But they didn’t though…it was Plus vs. Pro Max.

I think calling the larger regular phone “Max” would be confusing because so far they've used “Max” to refer to the higher tier of "Pro", which it wouldn't be in this case. Leaving out the "Pro" name in the new highest-spec larger phone would probably be okay--they do that with the M-series chips after all.
I forgot they changed it to Plus. Still, doing "Ultra" allows them to drop two separate "Pro" models.

I'm not carrying around a phablet in my jeans pockets. Sorry, it's just a ridiculous concept. Fit what you can into the present non-max or mini form factors please.

All part of the marketing strategy to trigger the urge and need to go out and purchase new phones. I mean really though? I don't jump at every iPhone that comes out every year. I would've still been having my 13 Pro if the charging port didn't go defective on me. The 13 Pro was perfect for my taste and use. Due to the charging port being defective when I took it in to the Apple Store to get it checked out and was about to get a new battery. I have to get the 14 Pro as a replacement. I was ticked off. I really was. Now that I'm finally getting used to the 14 Pro which I've only been using for about almost three months now. I have no intentions to upgrade to the 15 Pro unless it's something major about the 15 Pro that the 14 Pro may be lacking in certain features. I'm hearing some good things about the upcoming 15 Pro. Man I wish I still the 13 Pro because it was optimized to perfection due to it being the second generation of that hardware design. Since the 14 Pro hardware design is about to be a year old, I believe that 15 Pro is going to be optimized where it will be nearly perfected. It takes about a generation or two for the hardware and iOS software optimized to perfection. Again, just never know what is going to come out this Fall. We shall see. I really don't care for the name. I just want the product to be solid with minimal flaws especially with the iOS which has been buggy as heck in the past few years.

iPhone 16 ultra alongside the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Axe the 16 Plus. (They won’t release the Ultra this year and they would be crazy to drop the Pro Max naming ideology) Charge $1400 base price. Has Haptic buttons that were rumored. Sim Free planet wide. (So there is space for the haptics) 7-7.4 inch display with chamfered edges maybe? And zero usb port. It’s the safest bet to release all of it in one product but not the rest of the lineup. And because it’s so different almost like the iPhone X was it will drive adoption simply by that alone. Ultra Size. Ultra Price. Ultra Cutting edge of ideology and technology.

No to all of this. It makes zero sense to keep both a Pro Max and Ultra version around. It makes less than zero sense to drop the USB-C port on the flagship phone when it could be TB3 instead. If Apple selectively removes the port, it would be coming off the regular iPhones first, not Pro/Ultra. “Pro” users have more need of the port.

The only only thing “ultra” will be the price because the features will be just marketing, like a titanium frame (does your phone suffer from bends contantly?, will you be throwing and dropping your phone all the time (
the screen needs to be “ultra”, not the already perfectly fine frame!), a 6x lens is still BELOW what other phone vendors offer since several years ago. So the “ultra” is just a pretty name, but not ultra AT ALL by todays standards. Bring innovation, not just names!
How much different do you use your ultra watch compared to the “simple mortal” watch version?. I just find the larger screen relevant due to my 40+ years old sight.

It's getting old! Don't give a BEEP! Names are irreverent
Names are disrespectful?

irreverent
: having or showing a lack of respect for someone or something that is usually treated with respect
: treating someone or something in a way that is not serious or respectful

HERE IS THE FULL STORY !!!!!!

In the iconic ring-shaped Apple HQ, beneath the gleaming glass and lush trees, a tense meeting was underway. Tim Cook, along with the top Apple evangelists, sat around a minimalist white table that seemed to stretch on forever. Their faces wore a look of exhaustion. The walls echoed with their previous debates on innovation and pushing boundaries. The whiteboard walls were filled with sketches, timelines, and product features. Yet something felt amiss.

"What's the next 'one more thing', team?" Tim's voice broke the heavy silence. "We need to keep pushing boundaries. We have been at the pinnacle of technology for so long, we can't let it slip now."

Greg Joswiak, Phil Schiller, and other top minds tossed ideas around. Everything from holographic Siri to virtual reality Apple Maps was debated. But nothing clicked. It felt like trying to extract juice from a fruit that had been squeezed dry.

The room's energy sagged, as the reality of the situation began to dawn on everyone. Here were the brightest minds of Silicon Valley, the men who'd brought revolutions to the palm of our hands, drawing blanks.

"I think we're just...out of ideas," Craig Federighi admitted with a heavy sigh, pushing his iconic hair back with both hands.

Just as the gloom seemed impenetrable, an elderly figure from the back of the room, whom nobody had really noticed before, stood up. His face was lined with age, and his eyes twinkled with mischief. He cleared his throat.

"What if...," he started, his voice trembling with excitement. Everyone turned their attention to him, the silence amplifying his next words, "...we change the name of the iPhone 15 Pro Max to...the iPhone 15 Ultra?"

The room was dead silent for a moment. Then, like a dam bursting, applause erupted. Tears streamed down cheeks. Craig was hugging Phil. Greg was fist-pumping the air. Tim Cook, ever the composed leader, had tears in his eyes as he approached the old man.

"That's it!" Tim exclaimed, embracing him. "It's fresh, it's new, it's ultra!"

The energy in the room was electric. As the team celebrated their "innovation", the old man sat back down, a smug grin on his face, savoring his moment of glory.

Outside, the sun set over the Apple HQ, casting a golden hue on its glass structure. And in its warm embrace, a new era for Apple was born - the era of the iPhone Ultra.

Apple's really going to start slapping the Ultra name on a bunch of products now, aren't they?

On one hand, it sounds silly, but on the other hand, I can't wait for the Magic Mouse Ultra, a mouse where you don't have to flip it upside down to charge it. :p

I’m sorry but I’ve had the mouse since I got my MacBook Pro back in 2020 and have charged it once…ONCE! And currently it’s at about 22% battery SMH!

Granted, i don’t use it every day or even every week, but that’s incredible. Why do people complain about the way it charges? If iPhones lasted near as long they could put the charge port beneath the rear cameras and I wouldnt bat an eye.

If this is true, I won’t be getting the Ultra. I have the 14PM right now and it’s ridiculously heavy and I miss having the smaller screen size.

Ok so here’s my spiel, I went from 8 plus to 12 pro (thinking th battery would be insane, not realizing or researching I needed Pro Max for best apple battery) and now on 14 pro Max (14 = birthday so HAD to have it). At first yeah I was amazed at its weight but you get used to it.

What do you miss about the screen size? Content looks better on this thing and fingers aren’t bumping into each other when typing.

I have “small” hands and hate anything smaller than pro max now.
