Everyone arguing over USB 2.0 cable should redirect their anger to the USB IF or whatever theyre called. They are the ones that have kept keeping USB standards confusing as hell and upgrading a USB 3.0 device to call it USB 3.2 gen 1. This is why theres a **** show of USB C cables and some support charging at 60w and some at 100w, and some at 240w and some do USB 2.0 speeds and then some do 5gbps and some do 10gbps. its all confusing

Funny you mention this! I did take it back and they did replace it within 5 minutes. They could not have been nicer. Alas, the problem persists. I‘m ashamed to admit I’ve owned every iteration of the iPhone and the 14 Pro is by far my least favorite. Mostly due to overheating and poor battery life.
I wander could it be a particular app or charger that’s not playing nice with it 🤔

The 2015 MacBooks came with a 2m USB cable? I never got one! Dang! I feel like I should ask for a refund now! Lol

I’m looking through old support documents for MacBook/MacBook Pro listings at the time and (scrolling to the “What’s in the Box” section) I cannot seem to find anything about a 2m USB 2.0 cable. Maybe I’m missing a listing that did include the 2m USB 2.0 cable.

Edit: Okay. I can’t find anything from 2015 (maybe I’m still missing it), but I found a support document for the “MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016)” that includes in the box a “USB-C Charge Cable (2 m)”.
Product lines overlap. I was referring to the first laptop to go all-in on USB-C, the original 12” MacBook from 2015.

Well i don’t have to buy an iPhone 15 as well, but if and want to use the feature of a faster port what apple advertises for the 1st time after 15 years than I HAVE to buy a second cable.
It depends on what you're using it or. If you're transferring to or from an external storage device, the device itself may have come with a suitable cable (mine did).

And in order to make full use of that faster port you also have to have something to transfer to. And Apple isn't providing something to transfer to in the box either. Because of corporate greed most likely. Even if they included the cable you'd HAVE to buy something.

Possibly because you're paying premium money for a phone in 2023 with 20 year old technology still present?
So what? As I told you, I couldn’t care less. What year is it that (non pros) people still transfer stuff via cable like a neanderthal?

Yeah it strikes me as odd that some people want to transfer things via cable, something that’s about 10 years out of date itself.

Apologies, I momentarily forgot that the world's most successful company should cater toward your use preferences and nobody else's.

Seems like that, in fact, they did. Otherwise they'd have added USB 3.0 way earlier.
Why would they upgrade USB when they can shoehorn mugs into parting with even more money for a MacBook or iMac to use with Airdrop, which in my experience is slower and less reliable than cabled data transfer.

They should cater to the majority, not the minority.
Since when has catering to the majority been in Apples vocabulary? The company ethos is one of near disdain for "the masses" and their preferences, for example, their ridicule for tech firms who maintain a dialogue with customers as to what they would like to see in their products.

No, Apples MO is to do something and then rely on the technologically illiterate (most of their customers) to lap it up.

Dont forget that the single Best selling smartphone in the world is an iPhone; more than any other smartphone manufacturer, Apple cater’s to the majority.

Because it is the quickest and most reliable method, thats why. Good luck transferring things like music and video to your iPhone without a cable. How else do you propose you transfer music from your Mac to Apple Music for example?

Word!

More importantly why not Video out directly from USB-C to HDMI cable or adapter either?! You his is suspiciously ignored.

WHY!? I why Apple?!

Seems very lazy.
DisplayPort is supported over USB-C. I have an older Samsung 4K monitor that supports 4K60 over a special-but-cheap USB-C to DisplayPort cable I bought 3-4 years ago. It works with my iPad mini 6, my recent MacBook Airs, and as of last weekend, the iPhone 15. HDMI is a trickier situation apparently because of the audio involved and the lack of robust support compared to DisplayPort. I also have a small USB-C hub that includes an HDMI port, maybe I'll try that tonight.
