Don’t make that assumption as no other manufacturer, some selling even more premium devices, also don’t supply such cables.

The best assumption to make going forward is that you’ll get no cable.
But it's not "some manufacturer". It's Apple, and they control the manufacturing of their own cables. No cable would actually be a better solution.

Well good news is we will likely see the cable removed from the box entirely in the near future, so you’ll be happier soon.

Well, most people on here whined and complained about Lightning, and how the EU was going to force Apple’s hand. Apple complied to the letter of the law, and now you want more.

There’s no satisfaction on these forums.

Let’s not kid ourselves. Everyone on here who complained about Lightning likely already has a USB-C cable.
Honestly, I'd much rather, since it's finally (many years too late IMO) USB-C, they not even include one in the box and even make it $5 cheaper or whatever in countries that will allow that (I know Brazil, etc are not happy with removal of accessories such as this), or even keep the price the same but include something else with that $5 (or whatever) in the BOM/landed cost/box space that isn't likely a complete duplicate of things we have all already collected over the last 5 years, anyway.

One of the benefits of being (years late) to the party: everyone already has stupid amounts of USB-C junk lying around (esp "Pros").

🤣 Typical Apple. Force iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max users to buy a higher spec USB cable to get faster USB transfers speeds.

How is that good for the environment Apple claims they care so much about?
Whine whine whine. Most users DO NOT NEED the faster cable. Apple addressed the typical user. Good for them.

Mine does. Exactly where the SoC resides. I’ve had mine shut off numerous times.
Mine doesn't. depends on what you're using. We had an extended summer in Japan with temperatures still in the mid-30s+ C (now etc.). It does get hot. But under the unusual temperatures this year. It's doing better than others.

Making money doesn’t care about environment at all😂

The article mentions needing a USB 3 cable for high speed data transfers but doesn't reference one that they sell. The accessories section for the 15 Pro Max doesn't show any.

The standard pack-in cable (USB-C w/ USB 2.0 support) is a classic "skateboard" or minimum viable product which most of the major phone manufacturers are perfectly fine including. I already have several of these including the great 2m cables that came with the M1 MacBook Air. Apple's new premium 2m cable has the same data spec but also bumps up power support to 240 W, which is another corner case. It is curious that between that ($29) and the 1m TB 4 cable ($69) there's no medium option for, say, a 1m USB 3.2 Gen 2 cable that supports 10 Gbps. Apple's old TB 3 cable, which supported USB 3.1 Gen 1, would've fit some power users' requests just fine. A comparable "skateboard" charging cable is running $10 at Amazon or Monoprice, whereas a better cable with USB 3.1/3.2 support costs $15-20. Apple's gonna MVP or upsell you big in true Apple fashion, we should all be used to it by now. I find it kinda funny that no one seemed to complain when the the new MacBooks were released in 2015-16 with the 2m USB 2.0 cables. The computers came with Thunderbolt ports, but only USB 2 cables?

The 2015 MacBooks came with a 2m USB cable? I never got one! Dang! I feel like I should ask for a refund now! Lol

I’m looking through old support documents for MacBook/MacBook Pro listings at the time and (scrolling to the “What’s in the Box” section) I cannot seem to find anything about a 2m USB 2.0 cable. Maybe I’m missing a listing that did include the 2m USB 2.0 cable.

Edit: Okay. I can’t find anything from 2015 (maybe I’m still missing it), but I found a support document for the “MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016)” that includes in the box a “USB-C Charge Cable (2 m)”.

All MBs, MB Pros and Airs without the MagSafe Port came with a USBC Cable. And yes 2.0 speed.

Samsung gives a free 3.2 cable for their $50 external SSDs

The 2015 MBP charged with MagSafe. It was the 2016 MBP that switched to USBC (i think that was the sarcastic point mattoruu was making).

Yep, seems like. My 2015-er was MagSafe, so no USB-C cable for me.

Did my reply seem sarcastic? If so, that 100% was not my intent. I just remembered that my 2015 (MagSafe) unit didn’t come with any USB cable. That was all. No sarcasm was intended.

Edit: Although I was joking about wanting a refund for my lack of cable, lol. But it wasn‘t a sarcastic joke. It was just… a normal joke, I guess (IDK, lol).

What I want to know is why is there still no reverse wireless charging?

Especially since we have MagSafe in things like the AirPods Pro 2 that we should be able to just plop on there and it auto aligns.

I can guess as to why. When I’m using my iPhone with the MagSafe Battery (on warm/hot days), often it stops charging until everything cools back down.

I got hit with that a few times today when walking outside using my MagSafe Battery (granted, it is a hot day today where I live). I didn’t originally have this issue (even on hot days), but ever since Apple did that MagSafe Battery firmware update to increase the limit to 7.5w (up from the original 5w limit), everything just gets so darn hot.

Apple (obviously) could limit the reverse wireless charging so it wouldn't get so hot... but Apple could also do that with the MagSafe Battery (but went in the opposite direction with it, lol).

I genuinely wish that I could force the MagSafe Battery to charge at a much lower wattage (rather than charging faster, but getting super hot in the process). But the firmware update (which was automatic and I couldn’t stop it from happening) just forces the 7.5w on me, lol.

And technically there is reverse charging (since the iPhone can reverse charge the MagSafe Battery when the iPhone is plugged in and charging). Obviously I know you mean reverse charging of other accessories (and without the iPhone already being plugged in). But since you can reverse charge the MagSafe Battery in that specific circumstance, maybe Apple can enable it (firmware update) in the future for other Apple accessories.

There’s also the polarity issue.
