That's their boiler plate response. They sent me the exact same quote when I told them the only reason I was returning my Sheath was due to the lack of a camera button cover.

But I'm really missing the Sheath. :( Might have to re-buy it (maybe on Black Friday) and put it into rotation with my two Spigens (Ultra Hybrid T and Tough Armor T).

Don't tell Caudabe I said so! ;)
This is the first year I haven’t bought a Sheath since I don’t remember when. Fingers crossed they change their minds.

I think you’re right. It’ll be interesting to see if Apple ends up requiring a licensing fee as Sandmarc sort of implied.
But do they even have a licensing fee currently? I feel like brands would have just said we are currently waiting on the partnering program approval. Similarly to how devs for apps tweet out *version complete waiting on apple approval ready for launch*… imo I just think case manufactures wanted to hit the launch day for sales boost and thought we wouldn’t care as much as we do.

Anyone gone for the smartish gripmunk this year?

Just wondering what it’s like. Not on Amazon UK yet and postage from them direct is the same price as the case, essentially doubling the price for me. So wondering if it’s worth it.
I like mine a lot. I have the black one and have no issues with fingerprints or smudges. The camera control cutout is good, and the case as a whole feels nice in the hand. Most importantly for me, the bottom is smoothed out and has no sharp edges, so it’s the most comfortable case on the pinky that I’ve tried.

Curiosity got the best of me, picked up the Beats. It’s not bad, and certainly not as bad as some of the hate would indicate. A few thoughts:
  • Very precise fit and light, as would be expected for an Apple first-party case.
  • Excellent buttons, reminiscent of the buttons on the old Apple leather case.
  • Perfect implementation of camera control.
  • It’s super glossy, like glass, which you’ll either love or hate. The plus is that it’s easy to wipe off, unlike silicone and matte TPU which greasy fingerprints cling to more aggressively. The downside is that there are lots of fingerprints to wipe off.
  • I’d forgotten that I kind of like having the open bottom. Swipes feel better, and you have a place for dust and lint to escape when you wipe down the screen. Of course, it also makes that area more vulnerable to damage.
  • Oddly, it can feel slippery as heck, or fairly grippy, depending upon the dryness of your skin.
I’ll probably keep it and add it to the rotation. I love the dark gray, which matches perfectly with the black titanium. The buttons and the camera control are perfect, which is the major selling point. The fingerprints will likely get annoying though. Always tradeoffs…

Well was planning on dropping the Sandmarc video but was stopped due to that licensing issues. The button works so well and it was such a clean implementation.
I almost pre-ordered when I saw it here the other day because I really prefer leather, but was waiting on your review. Hopefully they decide to go back to the cc button version, or someone else steps up.

I’ve been going back and forth on this case all week, summit stone or riptide blue for my desert 16PM. Just need to get over the open bottom. I know I’ll trade in anyways and apple literally didn’t care about the 2 minor scuffs on my 15PM at all when it came to trade in value.

After running the ultra-thin Pitaka with its cutouts all the way around, the phone feels well protected in the Beats, even with the open bottom.

Yes, probably and the major launch sales window has already passed with the next one probably Black Friday. If they don’t release the camera control version by then, they probably won’t do it for the 16 especially with the licensing fee to consider as well.

I know most of us here cares about the cover but I think many others don’t really care and just want to have a good ol’ solid favourite case in the Sheath/Synthesis. 🙃🙃

Another worrisome thing with the Bandwerk case is that metal camera protector deal is very sharp along the round inside edges and I worry it could scratch my camera rings removing and installing the case overtime o_O
My OCD is in high alert here

Joe, I have a 10% off Bandwerk code if you need it?
Thanks! I have one of the sport cases in my cart to order, but now you’re making me nervous with the scratch talk… but I’d love 10% off! Much appreciated

Tried one out when they first launched and it felt a bit cheap, but seeing these pics... you make it look nice.

Hi,

ordered the Spigen Ultra Hybrid T, arrived, and I immediately tried it on my 16 pro.
Ok, what can I say? Well made, nice fit and the camera control button cover is really well designed!
Do I keep it? No… I m going to return it and stay with my Torras case.

I do not like the bumpers. The glossy look is actually a bit too slippery in my opinion. Here, Torras is better.
And for me the camera lip is way not enough, it is almost even with the lenses. Lip on the display is quite OK though. The case also fits too tight to my 16 pro. I have problems removing my iphone from the case…

Just my opinion…

Kind regards!

Can anybody please recommend a case for the 16 Pro Max that offers decent protection, feels nice in the hand and does hurt your pinky whilst not adding too much bulk to the phone?

Haven't seen any scratches but those metal cutouts are very sharp along the inside edges. The fit is perfectly centered when the case is on, but I worry about those sharp edges scratching my camera rings while removing the case.

Let me look for that discount and I'll dm it to you.

I picked up the incase Slim case for my black 16 pro. the buttons are incredibly tactile and it's a fairly slim case which means the camera control cutout is not going to be as deep as some other case options. the back is black tinted clear hard plastic with a frosted section along the bottom which subtly shows off the design of the phone. the sides are a durable plastic which hug the frame of the phone and has a good front lip. I found it for $39 at Best Buy and for the times I want to pop a case on my phone, I'd say its worth it!

Just got my sheath in, havent had one of these since the 13 series. forgot how good these feel in hand.

I love the new buttons, the fit on the pro feels great. The camera control layout is a bit wonky, its accessible but feels "blocked" by the material in front of it. If the entire CC area was smoothed out I think it would be really solid. I hate the camera control button and don't use it so i don't care about the cut out lol. (swiping from the lockscreen and capturing with the volume buttons is way smoother for me)

but if you plan on using it i could see why waiting for a covered case would be important

I want the pitaka so bad but the cut outs are almost tooo big they bother me 😂 I ran a 0.3 thin generic case at the end of my 15PM, loved it. Saw on a YouTube review that for a thin case, the beats still looks like it can take a drop or two. More than say the apple clear case.

The Pitaka was a no for me as soon as I saw the massive cutout. I’ve learned in the past few weeks that I’m ok with a cutout, but not one that leaves the phone exposed too much.
