Been hovering around 50% with very short charging bursts and good usage.

I’ve had my phone since Saturday and battery life seemed okay but it suddenly started draining this afternoon. Not dramatically but enough to make a difference.
I checked the battery settings and noticed that there was still some ongoing device set up where it was saying that the phone is completing set up steps in the background. I’m quite surprised as I’ve had the phone for five days now.

Mine drained 8% overnight. Nothing shows on the battery tab as to why.

It drained while on the charger? I'm having an issue where my phone shows as being charged (on the charger), but the battery drains through the night as though it was never on the charger.

Noo I left it unplugged last night once it reached 80%.

To be fair i am on the public beta but the mail app is running in the background and I don’t use it. I use outlook and gmail apps but mail is eating background time. From what i can see that is only thing causing drain for me. i expected the beta to give me less battery life.

Anyone else seeing very high percentage of Home & Lockscreen usage in their battery? Mines at 26% (#1) over the past week. Is this a result of the AOD? I have it on without the wallpaper.

I have a 16 pro max. So far the battery life is the same or worse than my 13 pro max and I’ve had it for almost a week now.

Same for me, it takes second place in battery usage. Idk why, my previous 14pm has never shown this statistic

I don't own a current iPhone but I know that Apple has introduced more AI into the OS. On Android you have something called adaptive battery. This is an AI tool that optimizes battery life and performance in order to extend battery life with little to no impact on performance in real world use.

I am pretty sure Apple has had something similar in iOS for years but I would imagine might be even more aggressive this release cycle. I know the official AI updates are still in the waiting but under the hood I bet AI battery optimizations have already been implemented without any user interaction.

If my guess is right then it will take at least 14 days for the OS to learn your usage habits and optimize battery life. Also other OS updates will most likely further optimize the phone.

All of this to say I would worry about initial battery life unless it is drastically abnormal. After a couple weeks if things don't get better then I would start to have real concerns.

A lot of people wait a couple months at least after a new iPhone or Android phone release so that most of the kinks have already been worked out in updates.

Almost the same apps but 4 hours difference in 100 battery usage

better but not that much than the Iphone 15PM that was awful after some months of use and VERY HOT during the summer

Yeah...I have had it for a week and battery has been very disappointing. I have turned off AOD after 1 day and thought my Home&Lockcreen usage would go down. but it has been pretty consistent. Must be a bug

Something that I wonder...even if the battery life is better now, how much will the AI on-device processing affect real day-to-day battery life? I have a feeling the 16s might end up with similar or worse battery life as the 15 series once 18.1 and subsequent AI features roll out.

Hi everyone,

Here is my screen time yesterday on my 16 Pro Max. Finished the day at ~35%. With the same usage on my 14 Pro I could finish the day at ~50% or more…

That’s really frustrating because I gave my 14 Pro to my wife and yesterday she finished the day with 55% with also 4h of screen time and 50 minutes of inactive screen time (I changed the battery/phone with AC+ in an Apple Store on May, 2024).

I thought I would have a big difference by going from 14 Pro to 16 Pro Max and instead I feel the battery is worse (or at best the same)…

I really wish they will fix this soon.

Curious what everyone's iCloud settings look like that have battery drain issues. Do you have everything toggled on, off, or just a select few.
To clarify; Settings, UserName, iCloud, Saved to iCloud - See All

For me everything is toggled on but it has always been even with my 14 PM (see my post just above yours)
