Like i said before i owned quite a few phones but i love this design. I would like them to add a better camera and more battery life. I use apps at work so you know a little battery life would be nice. Camera say about 5mp and i guess hardware. For ***** and giggles a thumb scanner or eye scanner lol.

honestly alot of you are asking for alot

right now i am fine with the iphone, im just asking for better battery life

I included what I think in the bold.

1) True, but hoping is always good
2) Hm, I think they will find some space and he, who knows how big these flash memories will be in a year... and... there may be a new design?
3) I agree with you that infrared is a little bit 'out of time', but he, nice apps can created with it (like a remote for the TV... using your iPhone...)
4) Yes, it's hard but again: new technologies are being created (or extended, everything is getting thinner, faster etc.) and it'd be nice if they surprised us.

Have you taken your meds today????? if you think thats going to happen i have some stuff that id like to sell to you
Haha, what's wrong about hope and wishing? :p

Don't expect a 1-year miracle. That's all I have to say. It will change, but it won't be drastic.

Think of it like the iPod refreshes. They have been refreshed about once a year for many years now. Each time, it improves and there are reasonable changes. The iPhone is establishing itself as one of Apple's core products and I expect the same from it as all of Apple's other products. The huge revolution was the introduction of the iPhone. Now it's revisions, little by little.
Ah, but maybe... just maybe, they will change their plans.

how about changing a carrier that will actually allow me to make calls!

how about changing a battery that will actually last more then 5 minutes!

don't care about anything else, really.
Oh, over here in NL we are stuck to T-Mobile. Don't get me wrong, they don't have everywhere 3G but I've always a connection (like with GRPS, and oh... no EDGE over here). It's just.... they ask to much, NL is very small and once you are outside NL you pay A LOT. I can imagine AT&T doesn't have service everywhere, but he, just for one dataplan you can call throughout the whole USA.

NL = 41.528 km² and USA = 9.629.091 km². So you can have phonecalls with AT&T throughout 9.629.091 km² for the same price. Over here you can only have phone calls for one price throughout 41.528 km². THAT sucks.

Battery isn't really a big problem for me, but longer battery life would be welcome.

I just like the thumbscanner :$

Anything without a pop-out keyboard or whatever they call it....:p
Indeed, that just sucks.

So, we all have wishes. I've got my own wishlist plus of course that T-Mobile is offering one dataplan for whole Europe, and you guys have your own wishes plus Verizon or some other carrier.

:)

I'm thinking the design will probably stay relatively the same. Maybe some small changes like color, maybe slightly thinner, etc. but imo the design is pretty simple and there isn't a lot they can do to change the phone up. I mean it's a big touch screen and a home button, not much they can redesign.

I think they will call the next iPhone the 3GS HD, it will come in 16,32,64gb capacity, will have a nicer OLED display, and apple will let you put HD content onto the device. Other than that I would expect most of the changes to happen with iPhone OS 4.0 software. Maybe true multitasking, at least for certain types of applications, and a revised notification system more similar to the webos or android. Expect a few new preloaded apps, like maybe a BBM type messaging interface, they might bring some type of contact sync/integration like synergy or something, and a bunch of API's added to the SDK so devs can do even more with apps. Battery life will also be improved, they will probably add 802.11n to wifi, and 4G connectivity capabilities. Might also release on other carriers, but it may stay ATT, and in 2011 after most 4g networks will be up and running you will see apple go multi carrier.

I think the iPhone focus is going to be more about one device for everything. (camera, gps, phone, ipod, internet, email, cal, etc. and how things will begin to integrate with each other.) Would be cool if apple allowed multitasking and then let devs let each other use features of certain apps to integrate with one another. Could leave to some cool possibilities.

I think that the iPhone 4G(a no-brainer or a name really) will obviously have an OLED screen, but I think it should also be double the resolution, whilst retaining the current aspect ratio.
Why? Well, it would make it easy for current apps to be shown in the 320x480 res, by simply having the device lower the res when required, like. Monitor does.

Well I just hope that my contract for my 3G finishes right when a new iPhone comes out, I don't see a need to buy the 3GS. So 64Gb, better battery life and the ability to change the freaking SMS tone to anything you like! Stereo speakers. Better vibrate mode, it's almost useless.

Besides the power and storage increases that will probably happen with every generation, I would like to see:

A higher-resolution OLED screen with the current size. It would use upscaling for the existing apps, etc.

A rubberised body and bezel. I had this on my previous phone (Sony Ericsson W880) and it made it so much easier to hold and to pull out of cases.

Rubberised bodies on connectors. I have to connect my data cable to the back of my white iMac as the keyboard only has USB 1.1 and my fingers slide on the shiny USB body.

Have the ear speaker double as a second speaker for stereo when listening to music, etc. I hope this would help to have a device that could play music without sounding all tinny.

It would be nice if the phone could be trimmed down a little. Bring the sides in closer to the screen edge and make it a little thinner.

The ability to tailor the lock screen for the types of information it can give.

Or just all-surounding speakers with HD audio :p

One freakin' thing they must consider is an in built rotation inhibitor.

And yeah, too early to think about it..

1) OLED? No. The colors suck outdoors.

2) Rubberized body? Nope, don't want it.

3) Rubberized cables? Sorry, you've got some other problems if your fingers are slipping off the plastic...

4) Having the earpiece function as a second channel for playing audio is neat.

5) The size is fine right now.

6) I don't really care for lock screen information.

I imagine Jonathan Ive's team and the engineers will be working to make it lighter and thinner, though there'd be a point where too light and thin a form factor might not be pleasant to hold in the hand and actually use.

Agree 100%! In my opinion, the i phone is the ultimate in form factor functionality. Any bigger, and it would not be portable enough, and any smaller would be awkward to use. Maybe they could stretch the screen out to 3.7", with more resolution.

Here is my wishlist for iPhone 2010...

-better camera with flash and zoom
-flash player for safari
-customizable background
-lockscreen info such as your calendar
-better battery life
-wireless syncing with iTunes (zune has this)
-text to speech
-turn by turn built into google maps for free
-louder speaker for speakerphone
-HD video and audio
-ability to set music as the alarm instead of just ringtones
-ability to delete the useless apps that apple forces to to keep (I never use stocks, contacts, weather, and iTunes)

Things I don't want...
-slide out keyboard-people who keep suggesting this...buy a different phone, the iPhone is meant to be controlled completely by the touch screen
-front facing camera-if the phone had this I wod probably never use that feature, I've never had to urge to use a webcam on my computer, so why would I want a front facing camera?
-fingerprint scanner-seems kind of useless, the passcode works fines for security

I agree that the passcode works well enough, I just wish they would make it a scramble pad.

Most of this stuff are software issues. It has nothing to do with what this thread is about.

1) Indeed, no slide out keyboard!
2) you may not want to use it, but it's nice when it's there. It's just something extra: you don't HAVE TO use it
3) I'd like a "fingerscan" just because people always look over my shoulder... It's just something extra: you don't HAVE TO use it

just because you wouldn't use a fingerprint scanner or front camera doesn't mean that others wouldn't benefit from it. Why would you want apple to leave out features just because they aren't relevant to you? You wouldn't have to use them if you didn't want to, so it doesn't really affect you if apple adds them in. Plus if features like that are added, they could potentially be implemented in interesting ways in the app store.

If Apple changes the physical design, it will be to make a more current or forward fashion statement.

But much thinner and a big enough lens to make a better camera might be mutually contradictory.

As far as the internals are concerned, chips that allow better battery life, but with more processors and more performance (in that order). More hardware encryption and security. Maybe gyros added to the accelerometers, and more speakers/mics for directional sound processing and noise cancellation. Maybe an OLED display which provides better battery life than a subtractive LCD.

just a guess...
