Has anyone been able to activate it some what via at&t and have the MMS working between phone reboots?

If so what procedure did you use to activate it with at&t?

It's been working for days for me.

I just called AT&T and told them I needed MMS enabled for development. I've rebooted many times.

Very nice then. :)

I'm glad to see it working for people.

Finally got it working for me. Talked to Tech support, got everything provisioned, but still had to put my sim in another phone for about an hour before i could send or receive. Then swapped sim back and viola, working for 12 hours now.

I'm on the phone with AT&T right now. The rep is claiming that they have a clear policy now that under no circumstance shall they provision MMS for any customer with iPhone associated with their account.

I'm doing the whole 'I want the supervisor' deal. I am a legit 3.0 Beta Tester.

not too sure if theyre going to buy it anymore.
i was on the phone for a good long hour this morning moving up to a "level 3 manager" who said the same thing.
but also, half of the people i talked to had no clue what they were talking about.
one chick said "you have to call someone about that, i do not have their phone number, but you have to call them" and she wouldnt tell me who "them" was.

the manager also said it was because they werent ready but apple was?
cmon att, youve had mms for years now....youre not ready!?

keep trying is all i can say.

i have had mine going for days now but my buddy just installed 3.0 and had to call ATT 3 times to finally get someone that would provision it for him.

He mentioned being very nice to her and saying the he was a dev that was working on his app that was related to being able to MMS and she turned it on for him.

not sure if that will help anyone but he just pulled it off a couple hours ago.

good luck

3rd times a charm, i asked for wap push to be enabled on my phone and they did it instantly.
woot. mms. :]

2 hours later...doesnt work again :[
called up att, tech support says they caught wind of what was going on, and they now have theyre system sweeping all iphone users and changing the wap push back to disable, they guy was very polite but also said that apple went around their contract and added mms and that att will NOT support it and that apple will have to make the wap push settings themselves.

eh. who knows.

I have spoken to multiple at&t tech support, tier 1 and 2, iphone at&t tech support, apple, and apple dev, and there seems to be a major problem between the two, apple and at&t.

i do not see any further help from at&t with MMS.

still working here.

my guess is if you got in while you could you will make it. i doubt the sweeping ever stopped. more then likely it was not enabling push but changing of the iphone text plan to a standard plan that might keep us safe.

when i had swirly working with ATT it wouldnt last long because of the sweeping and i would have to call back but i don't recall ever changing my text plan when i did that but i could be wrong it has been some time since i fooled with it.

i have several other windows mobile phones for ATT and i wonder if there is a work around by switching to one of them if this goes south again?

its not that i really care that much since i havent had it in sooo long but now that i have it back i dont want it gone again.

i was exchanging stupid pics with a buddy far away with an iphone today for no reason other than it worked LOL

i rarely believe what one ATT person says or any customer service people since we generally know more than them. i ran into at least 5 reps that said there was absolutely NO WAY to get MMS on the original iphone until i found one that would make the necessary changes to my account and sure enough it worked with swirly. in fact she insisted on being the first one to send me a pic hahaha

lets hope for the best

wow i randomly received an mms from one of my buddies..and i sent one back to test it and it worked...i didnt think it was working for me...but apparently it is..i dont know how long it will last..but yeh...it definitely just worked..

for those of you who are having trouble..i highly recommend putting your sim card in another phone..going on media net..and sending an mms..then put the sim back into your iphone and test it out..it SHOULD work assuming you have a regular (noniphone) text package

i dont know why people arent taking the above advice..it will get your mms working..just try it dudes

So... I've been following this thread now and finally called customer service around 5:00pm... The CSR was good but knew that this was over her head and directed me to Tech Support. The tech support guy was pretty good and did enable WAP/PUSH, and it worked for all about 15 min. Then back to not working. I really hope that AT&T and Apple kiss and make up and talk about getting MMS support for developers.

Really? That sounds like a fishy story to me. Weird. I doubt that Apple "went around their contract" with MMS. Honestly, that just doesn't make any sense. I see no reason why AT&T or any other carrier would give a hoot whether a device on their network is capable of MMS.

MMS is still working fine for me. AT&T better keep their damn broom away from my iPhone! :)

anyone on O2UK manage to get this working yet?

I have not been able to find the correct file to update my iPhone with to enable tethering and MMS so havent yet called O2 to enable MMS on my account.

I did however try to send a MMS using a Nokia N95 but got a "Sorry we where unable to process your MMS request, please call o2" 48 hours later!!

Cheers

weirdest thing just happened.
got a call from roxanna at att tech support, she said she noticed it was shut back off on my account and wanted to let me know she turned it back on for me because she felt bad because another tech support guy next to her had it working on his phone. she asked me for another number to call me on, called me on it, and had me turn my iphone off, wait 3 minutes and turn it back on and bam. got mms again.
seriously wtf.

In conclusion

I'm half asleep when I read this thread & it mentiones many phones.

Please clarify this:

In conclusion, users running iPhone OS 3.0 for beta testing legit can or cannot possibly have AT&T activate the MMS? If yes, what do you say & to who? No guesses;; I want to hear from success stories only. :apple:

It's a little hit or miss but my MMS has been working for a couple of days now. I have received pics and a audio file. I have also sent out a few pics.

Thanks for emailing us about the MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) on iPhone.

Unfortunately, currently we're unable to activate the MMS on your account as our iPhone tariffs don't support this service.

I have a business account, I called 611, ask for tech support. So they gave me iPhone tech first. The person I spoke to there transfered me to AT&T tech. The lady there was very helpful, stayed on the line with me for about 20 minutes and gave me the variables to add to my updated carrier file.(the same as the one on page 3) Been working for 2 days now.

Check out www.pimpvilledeli.com for detailed instructions on how i did it.

^those are pretty much the same freaking instructions ive been posting, no one listens.

Yes ! These instructions worked perfectly ! I just did it 10mins ago and can send / recv MMS !

I spent an hour on the phone with AT&T yesterday and I got the "we are not allowed" answer.

I didn't even have to call AT&T back today.

Actually you can do that process without calling AT&T.

Before this step:
After 5 minutes go to the following link

You can

1. Log into your phone account on att.com
2. Change "iPhone Messaging Plan" to a "Messaging Plan" which is now available since it should show that you are no longer an iPhone on the main My Account page.

Then you are free of the iPhone no-MMS calling plan, and are instead on a real MMS plan. Family plan Messaging Plan members need not apply, this is already setup.

I just simply called ATT business support as Im a premier customer and just simply asked nicely to provision my iPhone for MMS and the rep just simply asked what number would I like provisioned and presto, I was able to immediately send and receive MMS messages. However, she did tell me that their computer systems perform a "sweep" of 2 different monitoring systems and eventually will see that MMS is provisioned on your account and automatically unprovision, if you will. She told me to enjoy the MMS capability while I have it!!!!!!
