Ok, australia might be the way to go for me, I have an uncle over there that might be willing to send it to me if i order it from the apple au website.
Just a couple of questions, hopefully someone here will be able to answer them for me!
If ordering from the australian website, does it matter which credit card you use, does it need to be from an australian bank?
Is there any website that would tell me how much it would cost to send the iphone (if i can figure out the weight of the box, or does anyone know!?) to Ireland?
Would it be a lot to insure the iphone when posting?
I'm just thinking, yes the iphone is much cheaper but with the posting, insurance, risk seeing as it coming quite a distance - would it be worth it?

this is from their website:

iPhone 3G & iPhone 3GS purchased at the Apple Online Store can be activated with any wireless carrier. Simply insert the SIM from your current phone into iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS and connect to
iTunes 8.2 to complete activation.2 Purchase limitations may apply.

gul13 is right. If you translate it, the Italian Apple store says the exact same thing as the Australian one.

Hantec, Oz and things that go bump in the night!

Ask them for the tracking number so you can track too! ;)

I know your fone hasn't been despatched yet, I meant ask them for the tracking number that they are tracking ... long shot, but you may get someone who gives it you for some peace and quiet.

For the ppl who ordered from Hantec, ask what number they are in the queue, or for an order number, or reference, how many are before you, and then compare this.

Think I'd be mighty miffed by now - and plotting my revenge on building your hopes up. ;)

Also ...

As for the Oz unlocked fones, I've a contact here, but consider this:

There are a number of ppl experiancing problems with the new iphone 3gs and need to return them - the post to oz and back would soon dampen the mood of an unlocked 3gs. It would be bad enough returning it to Italy or Belgium - so only for the desperate.

Whats the score with unlocked French ones? Can you buy them pre-paid and then unlock them? Isn't that the law. There was mention that they are only unlocked to any french network only?? Can they do that?

Either way frustrating isn't it!

I already did this, and the guy could not tell me.

my order number is 987505, without my name and address... the number is no good to anyone.

This should tell you if you are getting your iphone before me or after me.

Ah finally the finnish prices are up :)

Not bad prices actually, although you have to take a contract with it, but you can cancel it right away, if you pay the ETF + monthly payments (2e/month). And you can choose 12months or 24months.

3GS 32GB (24month/12months): 528e/564e
3GS 16GB: 456e/492e

Arnt you forgetting something!! VAT/Customs duty! Dhl will charge you about 70 euro, customsduty/VAT would be arould 100 euro..and as some1 else mentioned if its faulty, youre screwed! Im from Ireland , in the same boat as you..I have a mate in Aus too, but its not worth it..Id go with france/brussels/italy or just buy an o2 one and unlock it yourself..

My order number is 987503 so I think we should be getting both of ours within the same batch?

Stella and laptops - has a lot to answer for!

Hmmm - Wonder if the Oz Apple store checks the delivery address as carefully as Italy do?

Anyway, Order got put in last night - will let you know if it gets binned like my Italian ones did!

no chance id say, as it would cost them a small fortune to ship it to the other side of the world..best of luck tho:)

When checking my apple order, it seems these are coming via Asia carriers, so expecting it to get binned.

But my next plan is formulating ...

Wish I'd stop scheming and plotting!

Lol well if it works expect a lot of people to do the same until they catch on and then start cancelling orders ;)

I suspect the free delivery to the UK might ring alarm bells though!

my order number is 929289

Anyway I mailed them today asking to cancel my order and I already ordered HTC Touch HD instead of iphone 3GS.

After what I have faced with handtec and delay time, I do not need iphone anymore lol :D
