I will be picking up some 3GS's should the demand be there.
I fancy a 32GB black but am still concerned if there are issues with it. Could it be taken to an Apple Store in the UK? Also what provider/tariffs would you recommend to use in the UK?

The only issue is that if it breaks, it has to go back to Italy to get fixed - I always make people aware of the before they buy.

With regards to tariffs, it all depends on who you are with to begin with. I would suggest getting an unlimited data plan - I have one with Orange (well, 500mb pm) which suits me fine - I do a lot of emailing and twittering etc on my 3G with no issues going over the limit.

Oli. Are you saying you'll bring some back cost price? Because if so, can you get me one too? I would suggest 28th, or maybe even the following week to ensure there is enough stock. Also you could try phoning the local Vodafone and Tim stores.

Do you need to activate the italian phone with the SIM card? or it comes out of the box unlocked and activated?

I'm planning to go to Milan (only a 5 hour-drive) next week and in two weeks I'm going 3 days to Hong Kong and 2 days to Singapour.

If someone can help me out to find a good deal, I'm more than willing to bring back as many Iphone 3GS as necessary :).

I live in Switzerland and sending the Iphone abroad is not a problem.

So.. .where can I find the best deal ? Does anybody know a smaller "store" that also sells the Iphone and would make a better deal if i buy between 10 and 20 Iphones?

Buying it from it Tim woun't need anything to activate, they just register the IMEI and it's a ready-to-use phone. Whith Vodafone you might need to activate the sim card.

Is the iPhone 3G (actual one) support MMS. I have downloadede the 3.0 software but MMS doesn't work. I bought iPhone from vodafone Italy(unlocked) but i am using it on a different network that is not listed in Apple mobile partenrs (VIP from Austria)

If Apple doesn't list your network as MMS enabling you'll have to wait

I'm on Orange UK with an unlocked 3G (from Italy) - If I use a modified IPCC file I can send MMS so I think it all depends if you have it on your tariff. Although to be honest, I think MMS are a little outdated - I'm not sure how many people actually use MMS here in the UK.

I never believed in that way of messaging in the first place, and i never missed them on my iphone 2g either

Is it true that you can only use 5 different sim cards on an unlocked iPhone before it autolocks? Just heard about this, tried a search but found nothing. I think I'm on my 5th sim card now, I usually get a local pay as you go sim I travel to Asia.

Okay, I added you to the list :)

I have some contacts in HK, but it's really hard to believe those guys :).
I'll post here whenever I have something serious.

J have personally swapped seven or eight different sim-cards and nothing happened

Now I'm just waiting for the first reports that someone has been in italy and bought an unlocked iPhone. Come on, it's been several days by now...;)

Has someone been in italy looking at iPhones yet and want to give us a little preview of what to expect when getting our own unlocked ones?

Am I right in thinking that if you get AppleCare then it gets round this restriction? It mentions that it offers global repair...

Also it looks like the Italian Apple website (and I guess the Apple store in Rome) are selling the 3GS for 599€ (16GB) and 699€ (32GB), which is a tad less than I saw for TIM and Voda (619€ and 719€).

Hmm. Anyone know whether you can use a non-Italian credit card on the Italian Apple website!?

I live in Belgium and as far as I know, the iPhone here isn't unlocked. You still need to buy a contract with Mobistar I think. Or am I wrong?

You can Gift order in different EU countries for delivery in any of the 15

Well you would have to have a Italian address where they would ship it, because they don't ship stuff to abroad.

Hi, this may work,
http://store.apple.com/ie/browse/campaigns/cross_border?mco=MTA2OTIwMg

"How do I order a product to be delivered to another country?
Click the appropriate link on this page to visit the Apple Online Store of the country you want to deliver to. For example, if you live in London and want to deliver to Paris, visit the Apple Online Store for France. Then, shop for the products you want and pay for your order with a credit card."

But it may need to be delivered to a friend in Italy.

Has anyone seen the mobistar pricing for the iPhone 3G S yet, they are also sim free in Belgium.

I also saw this company advertising iphone 3G S, are they legit? Has anyone dealt with them?

The English gets a little ropy in some places which makes me wonder.
