How's the queue at the Trafford Centre Frozentoast? :)

I've just got back from the TC. There was a que of 20-30 people outside the Apple Store. The O2 store decided to open at 8am as well, so I went there - no que - and I'm home already with my 32GB Black iPhone 3GS on PAYG!

The Apple Store in Belfast Victoria Square was fairly quiet, I was 3rd in line at 6:30am, there was about 10 when they let the first three in at around 7:40am (having plied us with free Starbucks since we was only four of us outside when the manager appeared). I was out the door and on my way to work by 8am :) There was maybe 20-30 people outside when I left. Nice experience, I'm definitely glad I went direct to Apple rather than the O2 shop nearby.

Very impressed with the 3GS - Very fast and snappy, I noticed typing on the keyboard is a lot more responsive. The screen doesn't LOOK any different, but it definitely doesn't gather fingerprints the way the 3G does. I just can't wait until I get home today at lunchtime and get it properly sycned up.

Even better was that somehow O2's systems seem to think I'm eligible for upgrade, so I went for that and got the phone at upgrade pricing rather than having to pay full whack for the PAYG ;)

In the O2 store at the Trafford Centre I was told if you are already on O2 contract they will allow you not to top up the PAYG sim

Really...that sounds pretty good actually and since lines aren't all that long i might pop in an O2 store and just get it on ground later and cancel my online order

Do they open the phone and activate it in store?

EDIT: Actually no point, my online order has already been prepped for shipment

Blimey, just been informed there are 12 people outside o2 in Epsom (just before opening). I thought I'd be able to rock up later on and be the only one there.

Har! I just came out of an Apple store with a PAYG without having to top up. The o2 top-up website doesn't take Amex and unfortunately I had already paid for my phone and I had no other cards on me...

Got my shiny new 32GB PAYG iPhone in front of me, still in the box, wrapped in cellophane.

My local O2 store was empty!

Shall I open it? Nah.....maybe later. Coffee first. ;)

They didn't ask you to activate in store?

They gave me a £10 top-up without even mentioning it, just gave me a separate receipt, and asked for the full amount including top-up.

However, I didn't question it because I wanted a top-up anyway!

Ah...sounds pretty painless. Good on ya...Enjoy

Just got my 32GB 3GS white PAYG from O2. I was there at 8am and was 5th in queue of approx 20 people by 9:02am.
The O2 guys said as I was on contract they didn't need to top up my PAYG sim. Which means the PAYG sim is not activated. But he said this may change next week (when they worked out how ;) )

Wtf?

Went to my local O2 and CPW in Larne, NI. Their systems don't show PAYG as an option. Booked a Personal Shop for Belfast Apple at 14:00, hope their is some left by that stage.
