UK iPhone 3GS buyers get a great new much slimmer 3 pin USB charger plug -
attachment.php

Woah!!! that is tiny!

I'm going to put it out there and say there won't be any stock issues. We'll all get our phones and then spend the rest of the day weary from getting up so early.

Easy.

9:00 leave my flat
9:10 no queue, straight to sale
9:30 leave store
9:40 home with 32GB S.

Loads of stock with no queues. Passed two other O2 stores and two CPW without queues either. Everybody who wants the new iPhone (and prepared to get up early for launch day) has already got the old one and is contract locked. Those who are willing to sell their 3G and go with the S are not in large enough numbers to exhaust the stock. Relax.

The website had an option to collect from your local store but when I called up to change some details they put my order through again and told me I couldn't collect from the store as it would be too busy.

The Citylink guy lives just round the corner from me so I can get it anytime :) he's the same guy that will be deliering to the Leamington Spa CPW and O2 stores.

Doing this on my new 3gs and let me tell you it's fast ! Got it from o2 shop at 0915 in York outlet and noone in there ! In and out in 5 minutes !

Glasgow

Had an appointment at 09:00 with the Concierge - taken early, PAYG 32GB in white and out in 10 minutes after activation. Queue of about 20 people. I have to say that this phone feels better built than the last one - more solid and no offset bezel etc.

there were daft queues at the O2 stores in the City of London. people were being processed at the rate of about 2 every 15 minutes. complete joke! I'll go in a couple of hours when the queues hopefully will have disappeared. Shame they hadn't set-up a queue specifically for PAYG, so they could get those chaps processed quickly.

I get ya. I did hear that they weren't allowing the 'collect from store' option for those who pre-ordered nearer the release date, but if you've already selected it when you ordered, it should be fine.

I just checked again on City Link and my phone has now been loaded onto the van for delivery!!

My first ever iphone. I couldn't sleep last night :D

I've gotta say I absolutely LOVE my new phone. It feels soooo much more responsive when typing/opening apps etc.. It feels better built in the hand.. The camera/video camera is amazing for only 3mp.. Activation was almost instant.. God I'm in love with my iPhone again!

Posting from my new 32 gig in the Cambridge apple store. No queues now but a bit if a wait to get processed. Not all activations are going thru in store apparantly. Plenty of stick too.

There's my two fingers to o2 then.

Apple store in Regent Street probably had about 200 people in the queue when I was there at about 9am.

They apparently had plenty of stock to last though.

Got my 32GB Pay&Go :)

They called people out of the queue if they were looking for Pay&Go as opposed to contract.

Just got back from the Apple Store Manchester Arndale after queueing just before 8am.

Staff were nice, free Starbucks etc lol

I went for the PAYG 16GB White, have 14 days to return it for a black, what do you guys think?

got mine at clapham junction, queue of about 20 before they opened... it took longer for them to upgrade me than do the new contracts

Just back from the Irvine (Scotland) o2 store.
Upgraded both my Daughter's and my own 1st Gen iPhones to 16g 3g s ...
There was no queue but while at the store the only business they were doing was selling iPhones.
Must admit the new phone is really quick in comparison to my 18month old 1st gen and the new charger is very svelte :D

I am SO frustrated! I got a black 16GB 3GS this morning.

I wanted a 32GB - I was all set to buy the LAST one when I go to pay and my credit card chip is broken!

I called the bank - tried to swipe it... no luck.

I had to buy a 16GB with the cash I had which now means I don't have any cash!

So I ended up spending 2 hours queuing - I don't get the phone I want and I am annoyed as hell with the credit card company!

Having said that - 16GB is enough for now and I can always go back and get a 32GB next week when my card is sorted and exchange it/refund it.

But it was hassle and very annoying!

On the other hand I did chat up a hot girl when I was leaving o2 that was walking past and got her facebook so it wasn't that bad (I did try for her phone number but she didn't remmeber it lol so I saved it in her iPod...I'm not expecting a call anytime soon but I love running after hot girls in the street and telling them they are cute and chatting to them.. daytime approaches are awsome fun!).

First impressions of the phone - compass, gmaps reorientation, auto-focus and video editing are cool... we will see how it runs after I restore my back up full of messages and apps!

I got mine from the Regent Street Apple store.

Walked in at 8:30am waited for a bit downstairs then went up. PAYG customers were brought forward in the queue (not that many of us were PAYG) then it took 15mins and I was walking out with the black 32.

Have to say well done Apple retail, TOP marks for a retail experience; friendly informed/interested staff; Starbucks for the customers; crowd control in place (not that there much of a need); a world away from my CPW/O2 experiences; where the staff are often uninformed and uninterested as they talk loudly on their own personal mobiles; I was told in a CPW yesterday (after the attendant finished paying with his blackberry) that the 3GS will never come out on PAYG…just wrong (I know there is a delay for CPW stores but still it is coming).

As I walked down Oxford Street to work with my new iphone I passed frustrated customer queuing out O2 and CPW store (without free Starbucks).

As for the iphone it does feel more stable and nimble. Yes I would have liked a more obvious change but still I am pleased. To the haters don’t buy one simple…I was lucky I had the money so why not? ;)

edit:
i did not have to pay for a top up on the sim; just explained i am using my current 3G sim in it...no issue!

I lol'd when the woman in o2 asked me if i wanted the 3G or 3Gs

yes, i queued up for the 3G (that i have in my hand already) i just wanted 2..
