Hi, i got my White 16Gb iPhone 3G today in coventry in the O2 store and there was no queue whatsoever!

i was straight in and out within 20 minutes!

anyway i have a question

If i was to activate my iPhone here from work on itunes on my work computer, what will happen when i plug it into my home computer?

or should i just wait till i get home to activate the phone?

will be fine when you plug it in at home. just dont bother putting any music on it at work or anything.

Picked up mine from the O2 Shop in Weymouth, very impressed. Feels very well made, and is definitely faster.

It's happening! Trafford Centre is open! White 16 gig here we go.

You must have been near me. I was about 12th in the queue at the Trafford. CPW looked deserted. Apple put up a trestle table outside with Starbucks coffee. Free to those who were waiting. Plus some nice chocolate cookies. That bit was a bit mad as all the new screens would be smeared with chocolate fingers shortly afterwards.

I got my iPhone just over an hour ago and have been playing with it ever since. I must say CPW did an excellent job. I saw the phone had been delivered from the City Link tracking site, went to the store and had one person in front of me. I waited for a couple of minutes then collected my phone. All in all I was in the store for 10 minutes at the most. I'mnow trying to give O2 my PAC code. I suspect that might take a little longer.

just got back from the touchwood apple shop in solihull. must have been in there at the same time as the other guy. took about 30 mins to sort my contract out, and that was with about 5-10 mins trying to speak to o2 because i got referred on my credit check. their system had gone down but they used another number. got a muffin and was served by a massively fit american girl. they didn't seem at all worried about stock. that was about half 11 ish actually.

i'm loving the new walll charger attachment.

Yes. If you do that just explain when you buy the pay and go iPhone that you will be putting you contract sim in it and you will not have to pay the £10.

I was made to pay £10 top up (O2 shop) regardless of querying it, has anyone managed to avoid paying by being more persistent?

Also I was told I must activate the phone using the PAYG iPhone SIM even though I plan to use my existing contract SIM. I suspect I don't need to and that O2 just want to get the PAYG SIM activated so that the 12 months data starts to tick down?

Full marks to O2 in Brighton UK for a quick, pleasant experience despite the above

Woohoo, went to Apple store in Meadowhall, Sheffield for my 11am personal shopping appointment, queue varied while I was inside from no-one to about 15 at its busiest, but there were loads of inside buying at a time. Came out with 32Gb white contract for me, and 16Gb white PAYG for my boyfriend.

Driving me mad as at work now and can't play with it! Genius team activated it and set up my Googlemail email, though could easily have done it myself, and all working bar the MMS thing we all seem to be suffering with. Genius guy said it'll just take a couple of hours to filter through - we'll see!

Got a hard case and screen protector, plus extra charger, only bad news is it turns out it doesn't work with my in car kit (which I only use for charging as my car as an aux-in), so new one of those needed.

All in all, very happy! Seems significantly faster than the 3G, so impressed so far! :D Bye bye Orange and Tytn II...

I am SO frustrated! I got a black 16GB 3GS this morning.

I wanted a 32GB - I was all set to buy the LAST one when I go to pay and my credit card chip is broken!

I called the bank - tried to swipe it... no luck.

I had to buy a 16GB with the cash I had which now means I don't have any cash!

So I ended up spending 2 hours queuing - I don't get the phone I want and I am annoyed as hell with the credit card company!

Having said that - 16GB is enough for now and I can always go back and get a 32GB next week when my card is sorted and exchange it/refund it.

But it was hassle and very annoying!

This is just daft. If you survived the last couple of weeks without the iPhone, you can survive a few more days until you get the cash. You'll now be handing back a perfectly working phone as a refurb and perhaps denying someone who managed to sort their finances out in time.

Silly, silly, silly.

You're not alone on here for doing such things, but some don't know the value of anything.

Me too. I wonder how many others think the same ?????

I'm almost certainly skipping the iPhone 3G S this year to get the iPhone 3G SX next year (and have it be written, that's my official 4th gen iPhone name prediction :p ). I don't think I'll be queuing at the Milton Keynes store though, too far away. That said, I'm missing the old excitement of waiting in all day for a delivery person to bring your phone to you. I might even wait at home and get it delivered next year...

I activated using my contract SIM, and that worked OK. I then reactivated my old 3G with the PAYG SIM.

That's mighty selfish. Why did you buy something that you know you'll return in a week's time? Especially when there's a chance stock will run out if not today then in the next few days. After realising that your card failed, why didn't you just order a 32GB via the online O2 store or via their upgrade site if you're on a contract? You could have had it delivered tomorrow. Are you that impatient that you can't wait 24 hours?

Well done, I got the one that, shall we say, was there to make up the numbers.

How fit? I'm bored and would love to know if the drive from London is worth it - I have a thing for American girls; fit ones at least. :)

Hey, you were probably a couple ahead of me! I'm very pleased with my purchase of a 32Gb black. I'm dead impressed with the video integration with You Tube.

I thought it sounded like people weren't having to queue at all in the UK. That's the impression I get from the forums at least. When the 3G was launched people were queueing all day.
