Frankly, I don't believe it.
I must admit, I'm rather sceptical!
Frankly, I don't believe it.
O2 are making some surprising claims about sales today, see here
Sales on launch day so far are higher than for the 3G. I'm amazed!
i hope so........
but some other dudes on this board on another thread are saying otherwise.
eg simplicity is capped at 200mb even with web bolt on.
The O2 Web Bolt On can only be used for web browsing on your phone and a fair use policy applies. But if your usage exceeds that of other users, which is normally expected to be below 200MB a month, you'll be charged standard rates for additional browsing. We'll send you a warning text message advising you to limit your usage before this happens, and a text message to let you know when you're being charged.
The Web Bolt On allows you unlimited use of Telefónica O2 UK Limited's Edge/GPRS/ 3G networks (as applicable to your handset), for personal internet use via your mobile phone. All usage must be for your private, personal and non-commercial purposes. You may not use your SIM Card:
in, or connected to, any other device including modems;
to allow the continuous streaming of any audio / video content, enable Voice over Internet (Voip), P2P or file sharing; or
in such a way that adversely impacts the service to other O2 customers.
If O2 reasonably suspects you are not acting in accordance with this policy O2 reserves the right to impose further charges, impose network protection controls which may reduce your speed of transmission, remove the Web Bolt On from your account or disconnect your tariff at any time, having attempted to contact you first.
Not to mention their system crashing in the first couple of minutes, meaning all sales had to be manually processed, taking about 20 or so minutesThere is a perfectly valid reason behind this: they actually have some stock in of the 3GS!
Last year, they had the grand total of 10 units of the 3G in my local O2 store and Carphone Warehouse had 2! To say it wound the 200 people that had been queueing up outside for hours would be something of an understatement. I certainly lost my patience, as number 11 in the queue!
I've just posted a sarky comment on the O2 DNC blog. I'm sure it won't get approved. Not to mention their system crashing in the first couple of minutes, meaning all sales had to be manually processed, taking about 20 or so minutes
.......just need a reputable no quibble provider.
That is vital. So many insurance companies wriggle out of claims for the most spurious of reasons, which makes it pointless insuring with them in the first place.
ok so I've got my PAYG 32 gig 3GS, and swapped SIMs with my contact SIM, as it recommends on the o2 site.
however o2 will not insure a phone with swapped SIMs. No probs I thought I'll just get third party insurance. However having read some reviews it's difficult to know who to choose.
Anyone got good/bad experience of customer service/making claims with 3rd party insurance companies.
don't mind paying a reasonable amount, just need a reputable no quibble provider.
I will not chill. I planned this meticulously, having been waiting to get the new iphone since April when my previous contract ran out, and pre-ordering at the earliest opportunity. It should be in my hands right now. I've been so excited all week as I thought I'd done everything I could to guarantee having the phone today. I wouldn't have had a problem if they had changed the delivery address, if only they had let me know in advance. Sorry everyone I just needed to vent - which is most unlike me - because it is so frustrating![]()
Do you have home insurance? Most home insurance cover personal property such as mobile phones. Alternatively, do you have a "premiere" bank account - you know the ones where you have to pay a monthly fee? A lot of them actually give you free gadget insurance. Considering they don't cost that much more than dedicated phone insurance and you get a hell of a lot more extra, you might want to consider one of those.

Perhaps the reason why you've sold more iPhones this time than last is that this time, you have more than 3 iPhones per store. You also have stock of the white iPhone which, this time last year, you were virtually denying even existed.
Oh yes, and your systems seem to be handling things this time, unlike last year where your systems crashed 3 minutes into that firesale![]()
Seems to be common, though in the 3-4 years of owning MMS capable phones I've yet to actually send a MMS message, so for me another day or so shouldn't be a big issue.
Got my iPhone 3GS today. Arrived at Glasgow's Apple Store at 0750, number 19 in the line. Took more than an hour before getting my hands on the new toy though. Walked out also with a Nike + sensor =)
The thing I don't get is why Apple or O2 won't allow preorders for PAYG. Surely saves them manpower (in the stores) and saves customers' time?
...but don't forget that this often doesn't cover you for the cost of any unauthorised calls made if the phone is stolen, which can amount to more than the cost of the handset.
The cost of unauthorised calls up to £2,000 (including VAT) per claim for Monthly Contract phones or up to £100 (including VAT) per claim for the cost of unauthorised calls on Pay-as-you-Go phones
