Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I was just at the O2 Store, halfway through signing up for a contract for a 16GB 3GS, and their bloody "referrals" system goes down  and they tell me to come back in an hour...

Anyone else had this? Its apparently something to do with the credit check system.....which is really bad news for me, because its the one thing that might stop me from getting the iPhone today. Basically I had a severe altercation with CPW, which involved them "accidently" setting up a whole new account in my name without me knowing. This lead to threatening letters from courts and bailifts....all for an account I never even knew existed!! It's taken me until literally a month ago to resolve the situation.....18 months after it started. Because of this my credit rating got marked badly. I spoke to CPW customer services this morning, and they assured me they had removed any markers they applied to my credit rating......so fingers crossed it *should* be ok when O2 systems are back up and they can check.

How frustrating is that though...the one part of the whole thing I'm worried aobut, and their system goes down for it............pah!

There is a 3GS in their back office literally with my name on it.....I just hope this credit check goes through!

I am SO frustrated! I got a black 16GB 3GS this morning.

I wanted a 32GB - I was all set to buy the LAST one when I go to pay and my credit card chip is broken!

I called the bank - tried to swipe it... no luck.

I had to buy a 16GB with the cash I had which now means I don't have any cash!

So I ended up spending 2 hours queuing - I don't get the phone I want and I am annoyed as hell with the credit card company!

Having said that - 16GB is enough for now and I can always go back and get a 32GB next week when my card is sorted and exchange it/refund it.

But it was hassle and very annoying!

On the other hand I did chat up a hot girl when I was leaving o2 that was walking past and got her facebook so it wasn't that bad (I did try for her phone number but she didn't remmeber it lol so I saved it in her iPod...I'm not expecting a call anytime soon but I love running after hot girls in the street and telling them they are cute and chatting to them.. daytime approaches are awsome fun!).

First impressions of the phone - compass, gmaps reorientation, auto-focus and video editing are cool... we will see how it runs after I restore my back up full of messages and apps!

Couldn't you just tell them to hold it for you? Keep it behind the desk... go to a bank, withdraw cash from your account, then go back to the store, 10 minutes later and buy it?

I'm sure the would have held it for you for that short amount of time.

The credit check is for the O2 contract, not the cost of the phone.

Whats the MMS situation ... I got home and O2 text me saying that it couldn't set it up yet call customer services. Is this happening with everyone or shall I actually call customer services?

Got my iTunes vouchers sorted went for a coffee and just walked back past the store. No q now and none outside CPw either.

I didn't have any cash in my bank account - bills eh? lol

Anyway I got a phone - I can get the 32GB later and just get an exchange/refund and won't have to queue.

That 14 days solves that problem.

So all in all the only annoying thing was the credit card messing up! and I met a hot girl so not that bad.

I know its a little thing but I really love the compass map orientation thing!

My MMS isnt working either, i got the same resoponse, telling me to phone O2, So i guess we're not alone with the problem.

Gotta say totally brilliant experience at the Apple store in Touchwood. Starbucks and pastries etc and cheering / generally great atmosphere. In and out in about 20 minutes and just popped my Simplicity SIM in it.

Super happy 32GB owner.

Thought the Trafford Centre atmosphere was good too - although I had to duck out before I got to the end of the queue (had to get to work) so let's hope they've still got some left later on :)

PAYG and contract sim

The Apple genius in Glasgow actually activated my phone with my contract sim in it despite the fact I had bought a PAYG handset. First impressions are that it's much snappier and it does feel better built too - I went for a white 32MB. I plan to do the simplicity thing when my contract expires Jan 2010. Just need to sell the 3G now.

sorry I'm a bit behind here, can I buy a PAYG one, put in my Simplicity SIM (which I'm already using in my 3G) and just not top the PAYG SIM up every month ?

You don't even need to top up your sim at all if you play your cards right...unless you want to use the unlimited wi-fi thing. My PAYG sim is still sitting in the box looking pretty...and dusty. Never been opened

Yes. If you do that just explain when you buy the pay and go iPhone that you will be putting you contract sim in it and you will not have to pay the £10.

Milton Keynes Apple Store, about 10.25 this morning. Looked about the same length three quarters of an hour later. They must have a reasonable amount of stock.

I'll probably pop in there in 30 mins, just to have a look at one. Can't justify paying £440 for a phone...

Just arrived via City Link - Bristol area. Tiny box and looks very nice having come from a 2G iphone.

Regent Street is out of White 32GB phones
