Anyone here with a Veil and a glass screen protector? I'm looking for a glass protector that gets near the edge of the Veil case.

Some photos taken with the phone, so no shots of it fitted.

First 2 photos, eBay is on left (http://www.ebay.com/itm/191286387539). The Veil is on the right
Next 2 photos order is reversed.

Edit. The ebay seller has upped his price 1 dollar since I bought it. So now its 3.99 including fast shipping (for me in CA).

Well, I got mine today, and the good news is that it's a great case, with a really nice texture to it, and the seam isn't even as bad on mine as it seems to have been on yours.

The bad news is that one of the top corners was squashed, probably in shipping. This is one of the problems with these cheap cases. They get sent in a plastic bag and a thin bubble wrap envelope, with basically no protection. If you've ever worked in a sorting center you know that's not enough. There are boxes falling on top of it and everything else.

Oh well, I put in a request with the seller for a replacement. Hopefully they can send me another and we'll try it again.

By contrast, my Spigen Air Skin came in a bubble package that would do a much better job of protecting it, and it was flawless. I just wish there weren't such a lip on the front, or it would have been a perfect case.

I had the same problem with mine. Mine was bent around the power button & volume button area because of the flimsy plastic bag used for shipping. The eBay seller I got it from just issued a refund. He didn't seem interested in sending a properly packed replacement.

Have you tried the ebay one yet? It is really pretty good. No lip at all. This is the one I have settled on and it feels great. The sharp joins have all gone with the help of the nail file and it just feels super grippy in the hands. Couldn't ask for more. But everyone is different. Seems though that you are looking for similar things in a case.

I ended up ordering one of those planet wireless cheap cases. For less than $5, I don't care if it's not a great case, but the reviews here make me think it will have a lot of what I want for not a lot of money.

That's the one I'm talking about. The ebay case. It came damaged. :(

You're rught, though, it seems like it would be perfect if I can get one that's not damaged.

I hate to say I told you so, but this is what I was talking about earlier in this thread. I went through all this last year with eBay cases and that's why I don't buy cheap stuff on eBay. Try asking for a replacement - my guess is you either get no response or a no. Yeah, sure, some people are happy with their eBay experiences. But it just isn't worth the time or hassle to me. Giving $15 to Caudabe or Spigen or whatever isn't exactly breaking the bank so why bother bargain hunting. Just my opinion!

Yeah but my eBay case is a better overall case than the the Veil / johncase. Also I complained about my veil to caudabe and they made me pay return shipping. Hardly great service. With Amazon they gave me an immediate refund and told me to keep defective case.

Your comment would be a good one if there weren't already a bunch of complaints about these so called "branded" cases. Check the Shumuri thread. At least half or maybe more of the buyers have complained of super long shopping times then arriving with broken cases or fractures appearing after a few days use.

I stand by my cheap eBay case because of its superior quality for what I was looking for. It is apparent you get failures with all the super thin cases.

Vertigo, let us know if you have an easy time getting a return or replacement with your eBay case.

You complained about your Veil and they asked you to return it? When I complained, they gave me a replacement that arrived in two days. I'm not the only one singing their praises when it comes to replacements. Where are you going wrong?

Although your comment about Shimuri is spot on - I have been borderline about buying from Shimuri. They're based in China and their cases are even more expensive than anything of comparable quality I get on Amazon. And it's $6 for shipping. Not sure that's worth it. Although I did see on the Shimuri thread that their customer service is good, so maybe you're being selective with the facts again.

Look, I'm glad you got what you liked on eBay. That's really great. But your logic is a little wonky. It's misleading and even a little irresponsible to give the impression that just because you got one single good case that the eBay experience is all hunky dory, because it just isn't. There are a lot of subpar products that sell for cheap on eBay and appear to be decent on the surface but you often (and often being the operative word here) end up getting something damaged or not even what was pictured. And I think people in our little community here should know this.

And not only that, when your cheap eBay case wears out and stretches - which will happen to ALL of these ultra thin cases - I'm willing to bet you won't get a replacement from the eBay seller. Now, sure, you could just buy another one. But what if that one comes damaged in the mail or is inconsistent in quality? It's not just a matter of cost at that point, but time and effort. These are not hypothetical questions - it's what I experienced for myself when buying cases on eBay and its why I stick with my Caudabe and Spigen cases. Your mileage obviously varies.

Let's say I agree with you on this issue. Can you point me to where I can purchase a Caudabe case for the 6 Plus? Because while the ebay purchase may not result in a perfect experience, at least I can buy a case for my plus through them now.

I think you're over exgerrating regards Shumuri. As for long shipping times this is normal for anything sent by standard shipping from Hong Kong. That said I did notice one or two people posting they got theirs in about 5 or 6 days. As for damage or defects not that man have recieved theirs yet and of those only a small number maybe two or three have had damaged or defective cases and this can happen with any manufacturer even those who have a great reputation.

.

But what I am actually saying is not that ANY eBay case is as good as this one, but that if you go with at least the same seller (or even with another with the same case photos), then you will in all likelihood get as high a quality case as the "branded" ones but without the cost. Sellers on eBay differ as much as brands in the higher prices market. You cannot generalise when I am talking about a specific case from a specific seller. I repeat again, there will be a similar number of failures with all these cases as we can see in all the various threads, in vertigos experience, in my experience and in a sampling of all the posts I have read on these forums.

I think I agree to disagree with you on this and that's that.

P.S. It was not only the return postage which pissed me off with the Veil, but also they said the refund would take 2 weeks. What century are we living in? All around rubbish experience, I'd say.

So I thought I'd update everyone on this issue. My first case from the eBay seller was damaged. I contacted them and they apologized and sent out a replacement right away, with no request that I send it back. The second one was sent in the same flimsy packaging, but it's in perfect condition, and I really like this case a lot. It has the same issues that FuzzMunky mentioned, where the plastic seam lines stick out a bit more than they should, but I will probably just carefully file them down. I really like the textured feel of this one too, as it feels just a little more grippy than my Spigen Air Skin. It's also just a tad thicker, not really noticeable, except that it covers just a bit more of the camera lens thickness, so that's actually a good thing. It still protrudes a bit, though.

For reference, it was this one I ordered, and it's only $2.79 with free shipping now! I might order a few extra.

I hate to say I told YOU so, but I totally got a response, and great customer service. I know you're trying to help, but your experience doesn't have to be my experience. I choose eBay sellers carefully based on reviews, and I'm more than willing to take a bit of a gamble when the case is only $4. So in this case, it worked out perfectly, and I would definitely order from this seller again.

Does anyone have a pic of the veil (frost or wisp) on a gold one? Wondering what the color blend looks like. Thank you.

look on page 1 in this thread, I posted a gold iPhone in both the frosted and the wisp version.

Thank you! Would you say that the wisp makes the gold a little darker, perhaps kind of brownish?

I ordered one of these cases and it missed the delivery estimate. I messaged planet wireless (the seller) this morning and they're looking into it. I have the Apple leather case so I'm not in a rush, but I do hope they give me a timely resolution.

It arrived today. As vertigo said, it was shipped in a thin packing envelope with virtually no protection. As a result, the areas by the power and volume cutouts were slightly indented. However, I was able to get the case on the phone just fine and the structure of the phone seems to keep the dented sections level with the rest of the case.

I agree with the other posters who have used this case. It definitely improves grip, but the seams around the edges are annoying. There is no lip, but the edge of the case is raised just a hair beyond the screen, so my fingers still hit the case when I swipe. It does look sleek and the transparent black one does make the back of the phone look like the dark grey it should have been (thanks Apple), so for under $5 I won't complain about its shortcomings. Given how thin this case is, it will provide no protection for anything other than scratches, so I wouldn't pay more than the $5 I did pay for it.

This will make a nice supplement to my leather case for when I want to show the form of the phone off.
