Where did you get the 10 million sales number?
Oh I just found the quote you mentioned:
"We expect core products of our company, such as smartphone, TV, and memory, will face oversupply issues and intensified price competition,..."

He said smartphone not galaxy s7 and edge. Do you know how much model phones Samsung makes? The CEO is referring to smartphone in general. Not a specific model. So why did you automatically assume he is referring to s7?

A next quote "Samsung likely shipped 9.5 million S7 phones in the first quarter, significantly more than the initial estimate of 7 million, Jay Yoo, industry analyst at Korea Investment & Securities, wrote in a report."

Hence there is zero over supply issues with the galaxy s7 and edge. More like under supply. There may be oversupply with other Samsung models though.

I kept saying Samsung smartphones
The s7 was another quote.

Sales figures released by Korean operators on the Samsung s7 s7 edge

Although I'm all for a healthy, thriving smartphone industry... I am concerned about reports of Samsung or any other Android phone makers success causing deep depression or other emotional harm to iOS lovers.

Oops... :)

Can you provide me with a link please.

Here you go, posted earlier in this thread

True certain carriers have exceptions depending on the smartphone vendor. Sadly Samsung is not one of them.
One more thing, it is almost unheard of to offer a bogo on a newly launched smartphone. Bogo is a strategy carriers would employ at the end of a phone term, it is used to get rid of inventory. Which again is not common practice for a newly launched phone. either way it's not a good sign for Samsung.

http://m.timesofindia.com/tech/tech...outh-Korea-in-2-days/articleshow/51397141.cms

"More than 100,000 units of Samsung Electronics' Galaxy S7 series smartphones were sold in South Korea within the first two days of its official launch, data showed on Sunday.

Sales of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge reached a combined 60,000 on Friday and 40,000 on Saturday after the smartphones hit South Korean market on Friday, Yonhap cited the official data as showing."

And the s7 edge accounted for only 40% of those orders.

Those are the only figures that were officially published.

For comparisons the iPhone 6s/6s plus sold about 150,000 in its first ten minutes. This is also took place in Korea.

So what does that quote prove? It was sales figures for the first two days in one country. Reports / publications made 2 weeks after that have said sales are better than expected globally.

So you prefer to work with outdated information? Still think the earth is flat?

In all seriousness, though, I don't get the point of the back and forth. iPhone will win some tests and the S7 will win others. We'll all choose devices we like and hopefully be happy.

Yep. Most posters are generally level headed and open minded, but forums will always attract those that

1. find it impossible to acknowledge the good about any device they do not own
2. will inflate any little imperfection to the size of a mountain on a device they do not own, but will conversely disregard the imperfections of the device they do
3. will attempt to turn any thread into a VS competition - but with overly positive emphasis on their owned device
4. belittle others for choosing a different device.
5. will troll, troll, troll - posting any FUD they can master and throwing it at the topic at hand and hoping it sticks
6. have a superiority complex based solely on the device they own or
7. have a inferiority complex and feel the need to make up for this by doing numbers 1 to 5

Thankfully the majority of users aren't like that - but online fora do often give a skewed perspective .... However it is ironic that these posters who do engage in that behaviour will often call themselves tech enthusiasts, when the behaviour they engage in is the polar opposite.

10 million at that price point with the 6se announced as well shows that people are attracted to the features Samsung is offering. They are getting iphone users and are going to push Apple to innovate. Anything without waterproofing will be a huge disappointment for Apple in the 7. People don't care about gimmicky features like live photos, long press thingy, etc (and pretty much all Samsung has pushed in the past in Touchwiz). They want features that actually improve the usage of the phone in their everyday life. One that is comfortable, looks great and built to last.

To compare, Apple sold 13 million in 3 days with the 6S. And for Samsung to even come close to that ground is really impressive.

I think Apple is going to do something big with the 7. Based on how good they made the SE for the price, I can't see them doing minimal upgrade to the iPhone 7.
My best guess would be fingerprint scanner integrated into the screen. I think 3d touch can eliminate the use of the home button, thus allowing really slim bezels. Would love to see fingerprint scanner integrated into the screen though so fingers crossed.

I would love to see the FP scanner on the screen and eliminate the home button. C'mon Apple let's do this!

Yep! It would be so good! Especially if if works anywhere on the screen. Apply pressure to activate screen then apply more pressure to scan FP.

Great idea! oh.....sooo agree. They could either slim down the bezels or add speakers like the 6P.

But you know what they will actually do.....

Make it thinner, but essentially the same design
Add a proprietary headphone jack and spin this is better somehow with Jonny Ive v/o
Better camera, better battery, better CPU
Offer a new color

**Applause and lines start forming***

Exactly this. Kudos to the iPhone for anything it beats the competition out in. It's a good thing for all. Wish they could beat out the competition in even more categories.

Yep, thanks! I don't see apple doing front facing speakers. Aesthetically I don't think it would fit into Apple design language. But we can always dream.

If Apple did that screen FP scanner, Amoled screen, allow to set default 3rd party apps, I would be excited! A LED light would be nice too but I know that's never happening lol.

You'll probably not see the last two.

According to low end Linux, oh and you can discuss the nexus 6p and the lg5 too.

Not much to discuss in sales anyway, the s7 edge is tanking according to the sales report out of Korea, well compared to the iPhone. Nothing much to discuss.

Do you have a source for this statement?
