I find it a little odd that I have a 3 day range versus a one week range for shipping.

Anyone else have similar this year or in the past?

It's a typical shipping estimate, nothing special at all. They think the item will be ready to leave the warehouse/dock/whatever location in 6-8 days, after which it will take a normal amount of time to arrive based on whatever "Standard Shipping" really means. I have the exact same estimate for my device (same config.)

All this really says to me is they will have more to send in a week but it won't have the preemptive lead-time that the launch day units have. Mass shipping logistics is very complex. Items going to you can already be on their way before you even bought them. The inventory can be "on the move" as it were, which is typically the case for the first blast of launch day units.

Anyway, I think it's very unlikely that these 6-8 day estimates are going to be units that magically appear a week early, if that's what you're hoping for. Apple's channels typically operate around weekly stock refreshes (and sometimes as a result of various unplanned issues, smaller bits of stock may appear at smaller intervals, especially for accessories.)

Probably best to just mark your calendar or use a tool like Deliveries that will monitor the order for you and look away for a while.

Got excited for a moment when I saw package in My UPS scheduled for delivery next week only to find out my non-Apple package that is scheduled for an in-store delivery somehow got linked to my home My UPS account. Not my iPhone 7 Plus. :-(

Exactly. Haha don't worry, bubble not fully burst yet. Similar thing happened last year and I still got it on launch day so I'm hopeful. I just noticed you ordered yours about an hour before me? Didn't realize they were available on ATT website that early. I only checked ATT website to order after having nothing but problems with Apple website and Apple App.

Yeah I was sitting on the launch page on AT&T's website at like 2:45 AM and then all of a sudden the page went live at 2:53 AM and I was like OK so I put the order in I had no problem it went through perfectly I was done within about a minute - I've always ordered the smaller versions and have them on launch day so this is the first time on ordering a plus

There also were many people's whose status never even changed and they received their phones on launch day.

Finally see a charge to my debit card. I'm getting excited! Status is still is "processing" as of now, though I'm sure I will see more updates tomorrow and the days to come. Rose Gold 7+ 256GB.

Edit: Just changed to "preparing for shipment" @ about 12:15 PDT :D

It seems most of the "preparing" are coming from non-west coast regions.

IIRC, for California at least, Apple ships massive quantities to a warehouse near Riverside, CA, where they add shipping labels. UPS has a hub/distribution center nearby.

Relax everybody. If you are showing "delivers by" 9/16, you'll get your phone on 9/16.

I should have been more clear.

The range I am talking about is the 27 Sept-29 Sept. delivery range.

Almost every post I have seen has had a 5-7 day range for delivery. I have a very tight window, comparatively, of 3 days.

The 6-8 days is meaningless to me as I don't know if this pertains to phones shipping from China or here in the US.

Also, iPhone launches are anything but typical to Apple's stock rotation as the sites will start dropping daily, almost hourly supplies available in stores. As soon as these phones get boxed from the factory, they get put into the shipping department and are trackable from China to Alaska customs, then to the likes of Lexington and other major distribution centers.

I just tried to buy apple care plus for my already ordered iphone 7 plus but I can't add it to my shopping basket because there is no iphone in my shopping basket... Is there any way to buy apple care plus without an iPhone?

If you call AppleCare while the phone is still en route they will add it for you.

Finally found the tracking for my 7+ (even though apple status says preparing for shipment still)
