One you get it, though, that 2-3 weeks will seem like nothing. Think of the one that's going to make you happiest over the life of the phone, you know? I know, it's easy for me to say because my RG is coming Fri., but if the black's what you really want, wait it out.
So I've been using my order # to track the phone using the UPS site... but today I noticed it says it's shipping some other state I don't live in... anyone seen this?
Something tells me some of us are overthinking the shipping thing. For some customers, they seem to be shipping from China, within the last 24-48 hours, for others, like me, stock is being assigned from Louisville, KY.
As a guess, Apple may have had X volume shipped in advance from China to Louisville, KY, in anticipation of Friday. Again, merely a guess. Plus, they would have had to start shipping from China last week, to get them to the respective Apple shops around the world.

If it is going to Louisville, that is a hub for UPS. Once it gets there it will ship out to your local city. My 7 has been sitting at Louisville for the last few days. My 7plus left china today. I just hope it will make it to Ca. in time. I'm pretty sure it will. Apple and UPS have this all wired.
My departure scan was at 4:39 pm from HK. I'm hoping i get an arrival scan for landing in Anchorage later today/this evening....not sure how long of a flight that is....
That's plenty of time: it's departed China and headed for the US. Easy peasy for UPS to have it on the truck on Friday. You're right on schedule for a 9/16 delivery. Mine left Hong Kong at 6:32 am Central, scheduled for 9/16 delivery.

China is 20 hours away from Louisville which is 2-3 hours away from the east coast. You have 48 hours until Friday. The world isn't that big.
I see that it left china--->Alaska---> Louisville... there's not much that is displayed in the page when I check It, only the city it's sitting at... but then on the side of the page it says "ship to: Redmond WA"... mmmmmmmmm I'm not even close to that state
Mine tells me in a line item that it was accepted and that the receiver will pick it up at a UPS facility.
Apple does stage a lot of phones in the states for launch day delivery, so maybe that's the case for you. It sounds hopeful for your iPhone delivery on 9/16. I have had iPhones switch from Processing to Shipped the day before launch, and the initial scan was in the US (with UPS). I wonder if you call FedEx, would they tell you who the package is from just to make sure that it's Apple?

For those checking their order through UPS MyChoice, if you go under My Settings, does your Delivery Address need to match the information on your Order's shipping address? I only ask this because my billing address is my real shipping address, and my Order is shipping to my mother's house.

I live in Louisiana. A few times I seen that my phone from past shipments, in past years, would start in Kentucky, then Mississippi. Which is right next to Louisiana, and then from Mississippi. They sent it to another state Tennessee. And from Tennessee back to Louisiana. So it happens. But I still got my phone. Not sure why they would bounce the phone around so much. But I guess UPS has their reasons.
