I will be curious if this works for you that sure would be easier than the other method. I guess it will tell me if i cannot restore/update in one process ;-) Let me know if that works. My phone not here yet but I have had them as late as 6 PM CDT (3 PM CDT now earliest I have seen UPS deliver, Fedex on other hand one year delivered in morning for us)Good to know! Maybe I'll just try it your way. Seems easier
Oddly refreshing the UPS tracking page does not get the package delivered any faster.
Yeah. And from flightaware the only flight out from Louisville to Seattle it not until tomorrow 4:27am--unless they have some secret flight or other plan. So I probably won't see any movement on my phone till tomorrow. Sigh...
Yea, a few other people mentioned that their iPhones were left in China. Mine was one of them. The last update on my iPhone was that it arrived in Zhengzhou at 9pm China time/9am EST... UPS tracking number indicated a 9/20 delivery date when it was supposed to be 9/16. :'(
You'll still get it Saturday though, it arrives at like 6am local time. Plenty of time to get on a truck.
Got my phone and noticed a major defect. My screen color is slightly dark yellowish. Think of night shift mode on highest settings. Going to apple store later tonight to see if anything can be done.
Good luck! I'd update you if it works for me, but I won't be getting mine for a bit. Stuck in the dreaded 27-29 crowd. But I'm confident I'll see it a week early so hopefully next week sometime.
My 128 gig 7+ arrived about an hour ago! Absolutely loving it so far. UPS driver said they had a ton of extra drivers brought in. He said he had about 50 iPhones on his truck.
Only annoying thing is having to individually re-download all the Apple Music songs I had downloaded on my old phone. Everything else is going smooth.

i pre-ordered my iphone 7 32gb black in september 9 at ~12:10 am and i followed the track of the package, delivery day : today (september 16)
on monday (september 12) i call to apple to change the shipping address, because it was wrong. only (2-3 miles of distance between the two address)
today at 4:42 A.M. i receive Destination Scan.
and 5:07 A.M. i get : The UPS Proactive Response® intercept for your package was completed. / The address was corrected.
call UPS and say package will be delivered on Monday due the address change
i will leave the country today at night (USA) and i will return in october 2.
is this sad ? please cry with me

My 7+ Rose Gold was part of the Typhoon team too. It made it out of Louisville, KY at 5am to Romulus, MI by 7am and made it to the Livonia hub and out for delivery by 7:37 am. I was shocked that it made it on to the truck! The 2 other phones I ordered 7 silver & 7 rose gold were in KY much earlier this week and are also out for delivery.
Now ... I have been waiting all day for delivery! We are usually the last stop for UPS ... BUT every year when I order my iPhone it is usually here by 2PM! Tick tock.....
Love seeing all the posts about phone arrivals and at the same time feel super bad for those that have to wait until tomorrow now ☹️ I know it is only a day but I would be bummed! Part of the fun is getting it on release day.

My order is still preparing for shipment for 9/27 - 9/29 delivery. Its been over 24 hours. Somewhat surprising for Apple.
Stranger still is the Apple Watch order for 9/30 delivery was charged to AMEX with AppleCare and is still in processing for over 24 hours.
I've read that it is an issue with the first batch. Supposedly it was left on some sort of testing mode and they have a firmware update that will fix it. I'm not sure how true this is though; just what I've heard.
Went to my local Apple store to see the new watch and iPhone. Really nice, the home button taptic effect is great and the 2x zoom is fast y really sharp. I feel comfortable now I had made the right decision . This weekend I don't need to clip my nails.
