But why would i have to restore my iphone as brand new just for it to be unlocked? Im just gonna do it when my 7+ arrives.

We ended up unlocking 3 phones with ATT and we had to erase and restore each one for the unlock to take effect. Don't know why, but when the erase and install of iOS finished with iTunes, we got a "your phone is now unlocked" from iTunes and then we did the restore.

I've been through this many years now, but still always curious. My iPhone is on a flight right now from Anchorage to Louisville. Shows arrival after 1:30am local time. I'm in Southern California. Tracking shows Wednesday, but traditionally, like you said, It was delivered early. In your opinion, should I expect it tomorrow? I ask, because I'd like to be home instead of worried that my package could be stolen. I live in a huge complex and safety is a concern.

Mine left Anchorage as well this afternoon but I am pretty sure it is on Flight UPS77 heading to Ontario, CA for delivery here in the OC. If yours departed Anchorage at ~3:47pm AKDT then it may also be making a shortcut to Ontario rather than way out to Louisville.

Same here. Does anyone else have this issue?

Same issue as you. Just talked to UPS. They say mine is still in China and has not cleared customs. She said not to expect it tomorrow as UPS has indicated. Won't know anything else til it starts to move. Bummer.

I live in Lake Forest, so I'm hoping my phone is with yours and headed to Ontario. Tracking shows it left Anchorage at 3:49pm. So maybe it is on UPS77? I assumed it was still on UPS99 headed to Louisville.

To my knowledge, they are all sold unlocked and if you renew a contract when purchasing the phone they lock the phone once the your new sim is activated in the phone after turning it on the first time. If you are not renewing a contract then the phone should remain unlocked after activation but who knows what shady things these carriers may try.
[doublepost=1474339303][/doublepost]How about if you take the sim out of your old phone and put it in your new phone???? Why use the new sim?
I did this on my iPhone 4. I may do it on my iPhone 7.

That doesn't sound good at all. Very discouraging if true. On the other hand the girl on the phone was probably just guessing. I don't think they really know what's going on. Very poor organization.

If in doubt I would have them hold the phone at the local hub if you can access that hub. Otherwise, it is hard to tell if they will update to tomorrow or not. The hub is not very far from my workplace so I always have them hold it there. Not for early pick up, but because I'm not home to sign for it.

so got my shipping notification...UPS site has an export scan from china earlier today...also has an scheduled early delivery for tomorrow instead of the original date for wednesday. guess i'll check in the morning see if its out for delivery or even in my city...but thinking that might just be an error? don't know how long it takes UPS site to update its tracking info

Hello, i just did what you did sign up to resond to you..you ordered the exact phone, plan cold, same times same scans..the UPS rep says tomorrow, however couldn't even tell me where the phone was..i agree with everyone else here..the last 4 5 years were so easy..you could order in the first hour and be ok for delivery on the first day..this time? just really upsetting..its like i am trying to pay you $1000 for something that cost you 50 to build..get everything organized with your vendors..

The only way the driver can leave your iPhone is if you print out the apple release form.

yes, i've been lurking around here since pre-order day and now, i'm so upset, i had to chime in! lol

i saw someone else here in new york with the same issue....ups says delivery tomorrow or something and the phone is still in china

OMG, this is driving me crazy!

i can say this, hubby's phone was "location scanned" early saturday morning and then went out almost 48 hours later (which was last night)

i'm HOPING, that mine does the same....if so, then it SHOULD go out in the wee hours while i sleep and i'll wake up to a departure scan.....

all i know is, i will be ROYALLY pissed off if i don't get it this week

we also paid an extra $10 per phone for "faster" shipping....yeah, my ass!

How does the tracking work exactly? How are they showing up as in China? Shouldn't the initial scan be at AT&T in Louisville or wherever
