Does anyone remember if you have to sign for the iPhones or can they be left? I think it's always been UPS delivering. I will be going out of town the 15th and won't be back until afternoon of 18th. I can get a neighbor to pick them up so they aren't left outside but just hoping we don't have to sign.

Sign for. But you can pre-sign on the order page once the phone ships.

You can pre-sign but I'd strongly recommend having someone get it for you. There have been too many threads in the past about iPhones being lifted after pre-signing and leaving it on the porch.

Standard shipping vs 2-3 business days.

Was there an option to upgrade shipping for a fee that I blew by in a hurry?

There was on option, but it hasn't made a difference in the past. At least not for release date delivery. Those who selected faster shipping were refunded.

Was able to get in about 12 minutes after midnight. Website and apps kept displaying the "we'll be back" message every time I refreshed. Was finally able to order a 7 plus jet black 128GB. Email confirmation received @ 10:15 with the Oct 4 - 10 window and order is precessing since about an hour ago. Here's hoping I get it delivered earlier than the estimate...

You can also have the package held at a UPS location so you can pick it up whenever. I do that so I can get it early on release day. It never goes on the delivery truck so it can be picked up when they open.

where's the original thread of this thread (before it got redirected) that had all the different links at the top for you to check when your phone is added to the apple support site (i'm completely wrong on this name) and then the links for you to check your serial number, etc? those links up top were helpful! now it's just a poll.
I will put that information back up. They merged the threads and pushed my header info in the middle. arrrgh

This may be the best option so I don't have to worry with a neighbor picking it up right when they are dropped.

Apple really screwed over the iPhone ipgrade plan users. Didn't get in till about 10 after and I was willing to wait an extra couple of days for the matte black 128gb but didn't give me the option. Had to go with a white bezel phone which I think looks gaudy.

I preordered another (black 128gb) to pay out of pocket. Think apple would let me switch and stay on the plan while returning the one I paid out of pocket?

There's a good chance you will. I've heard of people having outrageous shipping estimates but then they get the phone on release day. Not sure how common that is though. I couldn't get in until about 10 minutes after it was supposed to go live so I'm wondering how all of the release day jet blacks got snatched up so quickly. I kind of think there weren't as many. Who knows.

Anyone else's order that's still in Received status say "Not eligible to edit or cancel?"

I'm afraid to hit cancel to see if it works. Deliver is 27th-29th, so I'm hoping this means it'll get bumped.

We should start seeing some movement today or tomorrow with the order status.
Once we get to 'preparing for shipment' we should be able to get details on your phone and let the tracking begin :)

Here are some notes to help track orders:

Apple will automatically add your phone with it's serial number in your support profile. You can see it here:
https://supportprofile.apple.com/

You can look up the week of manufacture and factory here: http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html or

Sounds like I'm one of the relatively few folks who got a black plus for delivery on the 16th. Got my processing email at 2:04 am central time.

I've pre-signed, but never did this. How do you go about getting them to hold it at the depot for you?

That's because they haven't begun processing it yet. Once processing starts, a blue "cancel" button will appear. Hitting he small, underlined cancel won't do anything.

That's right, thank you.

I'm on the phone with Apple support and it looks like AT&T is having issues on their end, which is preventing a lot of phones from processing.

My driver has more than once thrown the phone at the door and kept going. On launch day, they have 10 million phones to deliver so I can imagine they are in a bit of a hurry.

So I feel like I got boned by the process. I just figured out that I had to pay my last installment with AT&T thru their app then go order through Apple's. Last night when I tried to order it on Apple's app I was only offered me a chance to wait until end of September or full price so I gave up and went to bed. Just completed my order. It might be snowing before I get my phone.

But still so excited!! :) Gonna check tracking on that baby EVERY TWENTY MINUTES!!!
