It's true.

I can't help but feel Apple are purposely doing this though, to build anticipation and hype and make a story out of thousands of customers being disappointed due to 'huge demand'.
It's the same every single year.

What's most annoying is my sisters get theirs tomorrow (Vodafone orders) - normal 7's. A jet black and a rose gold. Still, be nice to have a goosey at the jet black!

Interesting change of language now.

Just got off the phone to them.

I decided to ask why I hadn't been charged an upfront cost as my 'reason for call' haha.
She said she wasn't sure, but popped me on hold to check and take it manually now.

She came back and said it's because the agent who processed it has put the upfront cost onto my bill instead. I just said that was fine and she then said 'your order is placed'.

So I said placed now, or placed when I placed it? She said it was placed on the 11th (Sunday) which is correct as that's when I called and confirmed the credit checks with them on the phone.
I asked when it was likely to be received and she said they're telling people within 7 days but we'll get a text to confirm nearer the time.

Now that makes sense for me, as when I ordered the 32gb Black Plus was showing as 'delivery within 7 days' so hopefully this is true.

All makes sense so far, but we shall see how it unfolds.

Just off the phone to the iPhone pre order co-ordinator in the Glasgow store.

Her exact words were they can only quote the same as Apple for Plus models which is up to November for delivery.

Apple have told them they only catered for a 65/35 split on 7 and 7+ models. Massively underestimated the demand for + models in other words.

A bit of clarity for people. Who gets theirs first is still a mystery.

I'm not sure how you can underestimate when the plus got the major camera upgrade? Strange.

EE messed up my order after 3 hours of anticipation sleep (ordered at 8:15am) their site wouldnt let me log in and got a contract as a new customer being told they'd sort it out for the system to automatically cancel my preorder and not being able to get my 'place' back in the preorder list. So I had to go with three on sunday/monday didnt get a date till 7th october. Sucks so hard got a 7+ 128GB Matte Black, but seeing/hearing these further delays is making me abit fearful.

That's the same that I got told on the phone having ordered on the Sunday also. Fingers crossed.

Just spoke to CS again, spoke to a nice gent.

He said half the issue here is people are giving out the estimated times based on if you ordered now.

He said it wouldn't be that long as I'm fairly high up the que (very near the top), new customers and upgrades are all mixed in, no special award for new or upgrades, just first come.

He said he recalled this issue two years ago with the launch and they all went out late in the day. Got them to give me a call back when they get any form of update.

Getting annoyed that I'll go past the expiry date for the trade in price I'd agreed on my two old iPhone 6's. This whole saga will probably cost me in excess of £100 on the trade in prices.

So just called Ee. 28 days for jet black. 21 for all other plus in 128gb. Staff member seemed genuinely sorry. I do feel bad for them but it's annoying how they have taken my money and won't deliver for that length of time and no call from them to tell me.

Same here 256gb jet black here on ee i paid £150 upfront £47pm not a bad deal considering i get 20gb data unlimited mins and calls. But i will have to try and get the £150 back depending on how long it will take to get here.

Anyone else's dpd still saying received you details and are expecting parcel shortly? IPhone 7 32gb silver ordered by phone Friday @0820

Had a final call to EE to see if I could get any more sense out of them, the guy I spoke to said that the only info he had was that if someone ordered today they'd get delivery in November and that's where the rumoured November delivery date has come from; he assured me those who ordered on or immediately after preorder was opened would get delivered much earlier.

EE have totally lunched this; they may have 'underestimated the demand" but they definitely didn't "underestimate" how many they'd have on hand for launch day release. They knew exactly how many they'd have and should have informed people as they were taking their money that they couldn't guarantee launch day delivery (or any day close to that).

I don't like being lied to, this is insanely bad customer service and we're not talking about an impulse purchase of a packet of crisps, they're selling a phone and contract well over a grand. These carriers are huge companies who must have made millions on pre order day and they seem to have handed the entire preorder logistics to an intern..

What a circus

Complete opposite of what a lady told me today. Makes more sense though than what they told me

This is a mess. If they were just honest rather than getting everyone's hopes up it wouldn't be so bad. I was assured on multiple occasions that my device was going to arrive tomorrow. Lying to customers isn't okay.

Just think I left Vodafone due to shocking CS goes to show grass ain't any greener elsewhere

this is the biggest problem. There isn't a network you can go to where you'll get a straight answer and not some first timer making things up/sticking to a script. Best you can hope for these days is a better/cheaper deal

Not sure how EE have the best customer service (apparently). It's pants. Everyone says something else. We have better luck at winning the lottery than at getting through to a decent CS who knows their s.....
