It seems like Apple are having a hard time with the popularity of the matte black and possibly with the yield of the Jet Black. Given the damage disclaimer on the Apple website, I wonder if they're just not able to produce as many viable units as they expected - and therefore can't provide them to EE.
I don't like that EE don't have a specific order tracking system (instead relying on texts and emails that may never come) but it does sound to me like EE have been let down by Apple in terms of order fulfilment. Perhaps EE expected to be able to deliver as promised until Apple told them that their wholesale orders wouldn't be fulfilled on time.
It's a screw-up but hey, it's just a phone.
