JoD is no upfront costs. The tax is seen in your monthly bill, so instead of $27/mo you might pay $29/mo.

I talked to T-Mobile and if you used JOD and stayed at 32 gb you didn't get charged taxes

You don't pay sales tax upfront like an EIP for JOD. So no charge until your next bill, at which point it will tax your payment.

Cool, thanks y'all! This is my first JOD upgrade. Thanks for the info.

I just ordered a watch series 2 to cope with the fact that Tmobile Botched this launch for a third or fourth year in a row....From here on out Buying the phone outright from Apple. They clearly are not competent to handle a pre order.

Go to UPS.com. On the blue tabs towards the top of the page, there is an option that shows "tracking". Click on that, and it will bring a new page, to the left of the page it will show some options such as "track by number". The option below that is "track by reference". Click on that, fill in the fields, and under where it says "Shipment Reference:" put in your t mobile phone number
(no dashes) and click track. If it doesn't find it, a label has not been created yet for your package. Don't know if it's 100% accurate but it's worked in the past for me.

My UPS doesn't show reference information I could explain where they come from.
No account number, phone number (for the line or main number), no order number, etc.
Nothing which makes any sense...

I just want to point out one thing.

All of my T-Mobile pre orders in the past arrived to me before I even get a shippin notification or tracking. The only time I knew it was coming was due to a card charge. If there is nothing to charge, you may receive your phone before you even get a text with a shipping notification.

You're right it doesn't, i'm guessing just random numbers. For the iPhone 6s and 6 thats how i tracked my order, through the reference. Maybe this year T Mobile changed it up.

Do you think this applies with ship dates from the 27th- 10/10

All I remember was last year I ordered from Apple, and it had wacky dates for delivery, came on the day of release.

I also ordered from T-Mo, and had dates far out in the future, no updates, nothing....and then it arrived about 4 PM from UPS on release day....T-Mo's site didn't update tracking or status..nothing until the following week.

Of course, UPS my choice reflected it all correctly from Tuesday onward, so I have my doubts this year.

And this was on 6s

Also, if people received them even before shipping info, does the order status still say processing? Or did it change to preparing for shipment?

Do any of the numbers match your account number or order number?

That happened to me a few times with other orders. One of my phones arrived without any notification from T Mobile or UPS on release date, and order kept saying being processed until i received it, then it switched to delivered.

Well I have high hopes to receive it on launch day but since my date is further than a lot of the iPhone 7 plus models, I'm not sure what to expect

Starting to sound more and more like if Friday comes and goes, and phones aren't delivered, then may be a time to re-inquire with T-Mo again, especially given the way it sounds like Apple has been doing inventory management this year. Until then, probably just sit and wait?

It applies to all. Remember that T-Mobile's system is quite archaic. It takes a significantly long time for their side to refresh and update. The dates they provide are merely padding because they are depending on Apple's supply to arrive to them and by that point it already goes into logistics for distribution through UPS. By the time UPS ships out upon arrival for next day shipping, T-Mobile doesn't know much until later.

My friend and many reps at T-Mobile have assured me that my date is most likely not accurate. I got my pre-order in at 2am for the 7+. That being said, I'll go to the store Friday morning and snag one and cancel my pre-order if I can. If the pre-order cannot be cancelled then, that means it shipped :p

You're right, but I'm fairly sure the months remain the same (24) so you do end up paying $0 per month.

Thanks

I asked on tmobile Twitter. Confirmed by several reps. This is their response.

Hey, you are absolutely correct the $165 is actually a bill credit and can't be applied to eip so your payments would be $ 6.88 a month *AntoineE

You will be reimbursed for your new device in two ways: a one-time bill credit for the value of their trade-in and monthly EIP bill credits. Because this one-time bill credit is applied to your account balance (not their EIP balance), you will see a monthly EIP charge that is higher than your monthly EIP credit.
Here is how the first order breaks down.
EIP total $649.99

Monthly EIP payment $27.08

Monthly EIP credit ($20.21)

Remaining monthly EIP payment $6.88

Total remaining EIP payment $165

One-time trade-in value credit
(applied to account balance)

Total Customer Cost for offer $0

The confusion comes from the one-time trade in credit, which is the $165. That gets applied to the account to reduce the $6.88 EIP payments to 0. *JasonT
