Just got off the phone with Tmobile.
There's a catch to this and I was afraid there would be one.
In order to get this deal besides having to trade in a paid off iphone 6 or 6S you also have to change your tmobile plan to their new Tmobile one plan.
And I really like my simple choice family plan.
Not a big fan of the new One Plan and all their restrictions. Hotspot at 512kbps and non-HD video streaming and other bs that comes with this plan.

Yep, ain't happening.
Right now I got a great simple choice plan with 5 lines for $180 with 14GB of tethering each line.
If I switch to this it will be $180 still but with turtle slow speeds of tethering at 512kbps and throttled on everything else also including low def videos etc...
Or if I want full LTE tethering speeds I have to pay $25 extra per line so in order to switch plans it will cost me $125 extra per month for my 5 lines plan. Or they have 5GB's of tethering for $15 per line.
Screw that, I guess Im paying for my iphone 7 on my own and I dont want to qualify for this deal since I'm not switching to this crappy plan.
More details on this Tmobile One new plan.

I just got off the phone. I had simple choice plan for 1 line, was paying $150 a month with $50 going to unlimited talk and text, $45 going to unlimited data, and 14gigs of hotspot, $32.50 for my iPhone 6S Plus...I just changed to the One plan, because I don't need the hotspot as I don't want my phone dying utilizing the hotspot, and $125 a month for it all is wayyyy better than $150. I can do the Jump On Demand and pay $150 upfront for the 7+ and trade my current 6s+, counter the balance I have on it, and still pay the same on the 7+, for a total of $125 a month. And the agent scheduled a call with me on Friday at 1am to do the preorder.

Do you think tmobiles website will not crash this year? It was a hot mess when I preordered for the 6 plus two years ago.

Not sure, I wasn't with them last year.
But I hope they learned from it and wont be a disaster again this year.
We'll have to wait and see I guess :D

Yeah for 1 single line plans you will pay an arm and a leg.
The sweet spot is at 4 lines family plans and above to get a good price. I pay $180 for 5 lines and you were paying $150 for one line? That's nuts.
Hotspot is very important to us since my kids keep connecting with their tablets and use lots of data. It wouldn't work with speeds of 512kbps. That was back in 2007, not going back to that.
And also this new plan throttles everything so your videos will be low quality on that nice new screen.

i also called and the rep said since i'm on JOD, i can only call in to preorder or go to a store. i can't do it online, nt like the normal jump program. everything else you said the rep said, so now i'm confused.
Well I'm calling back and clarifying this today so I don't get caught flat footed when everything goes live, thanks for the info.

There seems to be a lot of mixed information right now

I'm saying you need to change and a lot are saying this will work with your current plan and no change is needed

Jump On Demand customer only have the option of upgrading over the phone or in-store (for any devices... not just iPhone).

Regular Jump customers, or customers with 100% satisfied EIP's can upgrade online.
Well, that's not true. You can do it online, but I've done it twice before and they always screw it up. I've had the same thing happen calling. Going into the store is the best way to do it.

The only thing about this promo credit nonsense with t-mobile is you need to watch out like a hawk every month to make sure they give you the credits, they conveniently tend to forget it. Fortunately their support in twitter is great and usually they resolve it pretty quickly without a phone call.

So I have had every iPhone since its conception, but I have always been with AT&T. Last December I switched to Tmobile. I am loving it.

But I need clarification on something. From this forum I have gathered that its best to talk to a representative if you have JoD on preorder night, but I am reaching out on twitter to "mobile help" for clarification on that. However, where I can't seem to find a straight answer is whether I have to pay the remaining balance on my lease of my current iPhone before I can pre-order the new one for my current line? I went into tmobile yesterday, and they said I can "pre-order the new iPhone 7", and bring in my old iPhone 6s+ after I receive my new iPhone and not have to pay the remaining balance. I just want to make sure I don't get caught off guard at 3:01am tonight, lol.

My experience, too.

This has been my understanding since we got on JOD last year.

Seeing a few confirmations on Reddit that you do NOT need the T-Mo One plan to take advantage of the free iP7, but really can't get a straight answer. I'm currently JoD on a 6s, but would pay it off today to take advantage of the "free" iP7. But, don't want to switch to T-Mo One just yet, since I only have 2 lines on the plan & it would end up being $20 more/mo.

waiting on a straight answer from T-Mo...

Uh.... what? "That's not true." "Well you can do it...." ".... is the best way..."

Where was the part when I said something that wasn't true?

Same thing here. Here's T-Force in Twitter responding to me..

You do not have to change your rate plan in order to take advantage of the new iPhone offer! In addition to this, no funds are drafted until the phone actually ships. The pre-registration (today) or if you wait and just pre-order tomorrow, wont cost anything, but it will let you know exactly what cost will be due based on the phone you select! TM

Nice!

Has anyone received anything from that pre-registration signup? I did it almost immediately but nothing so far...

I'm tempted to call T-mo today and pay off my JoD on the 6s, to take advantage of the "free" offer. That way, I'm back on the 24mo upgrade cycle which I'm fine with. otherwise my pricing per month will go up anyway.
