Exactly... and far be it from me to defend what people were hearing from some of their CSRs. The point remains, though, that that was an unrealistic expectation - and you knew it. You should have laughed her off the phone. But more than that (because you were at least erroneously told you'd get *sigh* one of the brand-new colorways -colors Apple fans have been begging for for years with the aluminum chassis - on the 19th) it's people with the automatic assumption that that's how it would go just because they CHOSE to get up at some ungodly hour to try to order the phones. "I got up early, was late to work or Pokémon or whatever, and I should have it on the first day." Yeah, well... you and about 10 million other people, apparently. The reps tell all kind of weird s**t. When I called to place my order, my rep told me that I will definitely get it on launch day. I knew from experience that isn't happening because I called much later after the pre-orders started. After we confirmed the order, she told me that "system is now telling me your delivery date is 9/27 - 10/10". Yea, right! I would have been pretty pissed too had I not know T-Mo or carriers in general any better.
I wouldn't mind a bit more clarity for customers, or at least an explanation on how the shipments are actually being ordered - it can be frustrating to receive a shipping window and see someone else with a later window receive the exact same phone before you. I get that. But you have to admit: about 85% of this thread was people whining they couldn't have their new shiny toy RIGHT NOW!!! (not even paid for, mind you, or began their estimated shipping dates).
