At the iPhone hacks section.
Hey folks, keep in mind the cost of the phone will be net $0 over 24 months, instead of $0/mo. You will get the trade-in value upfront (for example, $195 for a 6 plus) and then will pay back the $195 over 24 months to make the net cost zero. In this case, you'd pay $195/24 a month, or $8.13. If you did a $650 EIP, that would be $27.09 a month with no credits, or $27.09-$8.13 = $18.96/mo in credits.

If you pay your EIP off early, the credits stop! Keep that in mind if you apply your trade-in credit to the EIP. In my example above, applying the trade-in would reduce the EIP to 17 months instead of 24. But after 17 months, you'll have paid a net $8.13*17 = $138.21 for the phone.

Dude, you're confused the hell out of me too:D
I still don't get what you're saying.

My sister lives in the US, whereas I live in Canada so she preordered a T-Mobile iPhone 7 128GB in Rose Gold for me as it's much cheaper even after the exchange rate. On the site, it says these phones are unlocked but come with a T-Mobile SIM.

Since she had to enter her account info when ordering, will there be any issue that she isn't the one that will be using it? Also, do the phones come with the SIM card already inside? If they do, would I still be able to use it in Canada with my carrier (Fido)?

As long as it has been paid off you should be able to simply remove the T-mobile sim and insert your own after asking Tmobile to unlock it for you (which they will once its paid off).

The phone will need to be paid in full and it must be active atleast 40 days on t-mobile network for unlock request to be approve.. She should of just waited for the unlock ones to be available through apple in a few months

Your first part is correct.

You can definitely apply trade-in credit to EIP balance as per this support document.
https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/D...pid=10451&cmpid=WTR_AF_Slickdeals+LLC&irgwc=1

It won't reduce the number of months. Only thing will change that you don't have to payback $8.13 back to TMO because you are rolling in $195 back to EIP balance. They will keep applying the credit $18.96 or $20.20 (for iphone 6 16GB-$165 tradein) to your EIP balance as part of the offer.

On the T Mobile website it says:

Unlock Eligibility for Monthly Phones and tablets
  • The device must have been active on the T-Mobile network for at least 40 days on the requesting line.

Doesn't the 40 day rule only apply for those under a monthly plan? If I already paid the full $749 outright, this still applies?

Read this over and over and makes little sense to me. Why would I pay back the credit for the phone? Maybe I am just not understanding what your saying.

Dude, you're confused the hell out of me too:D
I still don't get what you're saying.

This is what he's saying:
For the device trade-in credit you get, T-Mobile will issue you a lump sum bill credit ($165 or $266 or whatever the amount may be). Now, over the 24 months, you'll be paying this lump sum credit 'back'. This is how they're going to make the 'free' promotion work.

So let's say you trade in an iPhone 6 16GB, which has a trade-in value of $165, and you're getting a $650 iPhone 7 32GB. T-Mobile will give you a $165 lump sum bill credit on your account once the trade-in is reviewed and accepted. This leaves you with $485 left on the iPhone 7 ($650 minus $165). For this $485, T-Mobile will issue you monthly bill credits (approximately $20.21). Since the EIP is $27.09/mo, that leaves you with $6.88 to pay every month. Where do you get this $6.88 from? Back to that credit T-Mobile gave you for your trade-in... $165. They gave it to you as a whole and now you need to give it back month-by-month. This makes the iPhone 7 completely free besides taxes. Hope that makes sense.

I'm not saying this is true btw, this is just what he is trying to say. I personally think T-Mobile will spread out the full $650 bill credits over 24 months, so we won't pay anything.

I ended up cancelling my original jet black iPhone 7 due to scratching fears and also did not opt for the trade up program. Just re-ordered iPhone 7 black, 256GB on 9/11 4:30PM PDT and it is showing 9/15 shipping estimate.

One thing to note on the trade up program - the EIP credit you get is spread out over 24 months and if you want every last dollar of credit, you must make all 24 payments. There is no way to pay off early and get the full trade in credit. Something to think about for those planning on upgrading again next year.

It's still free though? As long as they don't miss credits for this offer I'll be happy but Tmobile is notorious for not apply credits to accounts and having to call and Fight to have them added.

Is there anywhere to have some protection or documentation. They screwed me years ago with some free data promotion and o had to pay hundreds out of pocket for so
Watching that was free.

I got two phones which are supposed to be free not I do not want Any mistakes

Monthly phones is what they called post paid accounts meaning you pay your account monthly not payments on the device but i could be wrong which i dont think i am..

Were you able to opt for the trade-up program when you re-ordered?

No, this is not correct according to both T-Force on twitter and T-Mobile's own documentation on early EIP payments. https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-1674#subhead3

Your extra payments will not reduce your monthly installment amount; instead, they'll reduce the number of installments you have left to pay.
