Thank goodness Apple does not also make washing machines!
L-Ion batteries do not like to be shorted. Looks like someone did this intentionally to the iPhone while the Samsung Note had a defective battery.Anything is possible with these phones. It very well could have just shorted and burned up.

It's a hoax. There's already another thread about this.

Is it a hoax? even if its not, 1 iPhone 7 out of the millions they have already sold is not going to be a big deal anyway.
some say the hissing on the iphone7 is actually the fuse being lit. my advice is if your iphone is making a hissing sound that you stop, drop, and roll. on a side note dunking it in water won't work because the iphone is water proof.
you could be right she talks about a noise before the phone was catching fire,

Yet...No. It's because there's no systemic problem with iPhones exploding.
Yet...
With the iPhone 7 you can charge iPhone next to you in bed, just keep in pan of water. It's water resistant now.Well, don't sleep with your iPhone plugged in, at least not on your bed. You might end up in flames. If you have to, put in on a non-flammable surface. Not that wooden table or nightstand.
