another item that we have to charge.
I forgot to mention that. It’s a pretty big disadvantage/inconvenience of bluetooth headphones.
another item that we have to charge.
Regarding the aux headphone port—bluetooth audio is a convenient option, but it is not a replacement for aux because of its lossy compression. They are different ways to connect for different purposes. I use the convenience of Bluetooth when I don’t care about audio quality. But when I do care I use wired connection—lightning if the sound system is compatible, otherwise aux. I would be ok losing aux if lightning became the new port standard across the board for all audio equipment. But that will never happen because lightning is Apple’s proprietary port. It would have to be usb-c. But Apple will never give up lightning. So I prefer aux stays.
I agree that there is a audio sacrifice with Bluetooth capabilities. But I think the AirPods have such convenient features and are so simplistic with pairing with the iPhone, there were those were willing to make the sacrifice to have the AirPods over a wired connection once they try them, unless they were a dedicated audiophile otherwise.
And as far as charging the AirPods is concerned, with the extended battery life as it is, they do very well without having to be concerned overly with charging regularly.
I am a HUGE HUGE IPhone SE fan and I will not let it go until Apple completely no longer supports it.
However, I had been stumbling on articles that speculates that Apple will be launching a new version of the SE called SE-2?
http://www.techradar.com/news/iphone-se-2
https://www.macrumors.com/2017/09/25/iphone-se-plus-concept/
Like I said, I will stick with my current SE until Apple decides that it will not update it anymore. Period.
With that said, does anyone know when Apple will drop support for the iPhone SE models?
Thanks
It says nothing about the headphone jack.
It says nothing about the headphone jack.
It’s going to be more popular than the X IMO.
IMO this will be a tough one for Apple. SE users are extremely loyal and a large share of sales. I can see the base wanting the jack, but with BT 5.0 and the popularity of wireless I could see it removed. It’s going to be more popular than the X IMO. Can’t wait to see it.![]()
I've never heard of tekz24, why would they be credible with iPhone se2 rumors?
Whoa, that's an enormous claim.![]()
I agree. Also, what really surprises me, is that none of the android phone manufacturers offer a 4 inch version. And there are dozens of them...
After i bought the 13 inch ipad pro, i really don´t see the benefit of dragging a big brick phone around. It´s just a phone for gods sake.. the ipad pro is the perfect touch pc for home use, and still fairly portable. That device changed my outlook.

Hey there!
I supposed there are 2 ways forward with the SE.
1) They retain the 4 inch format and upgrade the internals to the level of iPhone 7 (without protruding camera)
2) They make the Iphone 8 the new SE by retaining TouchID (no 4 inch option in the future), the edge-to-edge display being the new iPhone for the coming decade.
What leads me to this conclusion is Tim Cook's background as COO (great supply chain solution which mean re-use of existing components and maximisation of margin). The SE was a re-used existing case with upgraded internals which led to lowered price (for a certain chunk of the market) as low risk for Apple.
I believe, they will take that route again (option 1 or 2).
We will see, personally I truly hope that they will go for a bold redesign of the 4 inch (edge-to-edge LCD with FaceID) but that would be a dream (cannot see that happening). Instead I see Apple ditching the 4 inch altogether and maybe coming back at it in 2 years from now, when Tim realises that the chunk of the market got tired of waiting, did not upgrade and either got stuck with SE or moved on to another mobile company.

The 4” design is out of place in the current iPhone lineup. And even more so by September 2018. No other manufacturer has a 4” product. The fact that Apple is launching a 6.1” mainstream model tells you where the iPhone is heading.
All I can say is I hope not. The SE is unique and it does well BECAUSE it is so unique. Make it like the current 7/8 takes that away and it will fail if this is what decides to do.Tim Cook is not simply about reusing old parts and profit.
iPhone SE sold well because it was based on a well known design. It stood on the shoulder of giants. Look at how poorly iPhone 5c sold.
A hypothetical SE2 is going to use the iPhone 7 design. Given that the 6.1” model will not have a glass body, I can’t imagine an SE2 using glass.
All I can say is I hope not. The SE is unique and it does well BECAUSE it is so unique. Make it like the current 7/8 takes that away and it will fail if this is what decides to do.
^Re the iPhone 7 design part. The SE had 6S internal hardware and the 6S was then the latest. The equivalent today is the 8. To use 7 internals for the SE2 would actually be a departure from what Apple did in 2016 with the SE. The 5C had the internals of the 5, not the then latest 5S, but it was not as successful as the SE.
I agree that the most plausible body for the SE2 is the well known (and viable to manufacture) 6/7/8 body, though I can't see it competing and, personally, it would put me off iPhone. A smaller X body is unviable and therefore implausible, despite the beautiful video (with an imaginary phone).
Yet your other post implies, to me, that the SE will be a bigger phone than it is now.If the SE2 used A11, it would immediately cannibalize the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8.
When the SE was released, Apple had a different product stack. The SE was a 4-inch phone and Apple sold no other such devices. If we agree SE2 will move to 4.7-inch, it would be compete with iPhone 8. Right now, iPhone 8 sells for $699. I don't think Apple is ready to kill iPhone 8 and replace it with a $449 device.
Did I misunderstand what you meant? The 4” design is out of place in the current iPhone lineup. And even more so by September 2018. No other manufacturer has a 4” product. The fact that Apple is launching a 6.1” mainstream model tells you where the iPhone is heading.
I agree. The small size being its main uniqueness. At the SE’s launch, they even said it was to appease the people who still like small phones. If they make another SE but make it bigger, what is its point? Low cost? Apple is already rumored to be making a low cost larger iphone. A larger SE would then serve no purpose.
Yet your other post implies, to me, that the SE will be a bigger phone than it is now.
Did I misunderstand what you meant?
No problem, just wasn't sure what you were saying.A larger SE serves the $399-$449 segment while the 6.1" iPhone serves the $649-749 segment.
Apple won't come out and say "we made this iPhone SE for our frugal customers." It's Brand Protection 101. They didn't say that with iPhone 5c when it was obvious it was. Instead, Apple told everyone it was to satisfy customers who wanted colorful phones.

Yes, I predict the SE2 will use the 4.7-inch form factor.
The 4-inch design is already dated in my opinion. I understand and agree there are consumers that prefer the 4-inch. But when September 2018 arrives, Apple's new products will be:
5.8"
6.1"
6.5"
Based on that, I don't foresee Apple releasing an SE2 with a 4-inch display. I apologize if I wasn't clear in my post above.
