When did you submit your request - I sent mine on the 9th and nothing so far. I'm in the same situation as you re PAYG 3GS on 3G contract.

9th also and also no text as yet.

Was on an 18th monthly account which was cancelled after 6 months

Any particular reason your all unlocking?

Me? Because I spend a lot of time travelling around Europe and whilst I'm happy with my O2 contract back home in the UK, it's nice to be able to pop in a local SIM in whatever country I'm in for data use rather than pay data roaming rates which are atrocious

Any particular reason your all unlocking?

I spend 3-4 months of the year out of the UK, and Using o2 on roaming is too expensive so I usually get local SIMS where ever I am.

I've been using the Dev-Team unlock for a while, but I'm glad to get it officially now as I'm not worried about something going wrong (i.e. forgetting and upgrading the baseband, etc) and leaving me completely without a phone when I'm out of the country.

I'm also testing how stable it runs without the unlock to see if some of the issues I was running into was due to the Jailbreak or just an issue with the iPhone. If after a couple of week it looks like the issues were not with the Jailbrek, I'll probably redo it as I'm really missing some of the extras like SBtools, backgrounder, cycoder etc

Submitted request on the 9th and still not heard anything yet.

Using a 3GS which is a replacement after my original one had a crack in the casing. The contract is from my first gen iPhone though...

Will be useful to get the text today as I'm going away today!

I received the text yesterday, went home and plugged my phone into iTunes, got a message saying there was a carrier update so I unplugged my phone and downloaded the update, O2 suggest u put in another sim before unlocking, I plugged my phone back in with a T-mobile sim and....nothing.
I've never re-activated/unlocked my iPhone officially, what should I be looking for?
Oh and the T-Mobile sim doesnt work, "limited carrier service"

Any ideas?

Well its been a full week now since I submitted my unlock request form, and still no text or email! :( Just incase O2 have not sent the text I even attempted the restore & activate again through iTunes but with the Orange sim card it still gives me the "invalid sim card" message :( Also tried by activating using my original O2 sim card first, close iTunes & insert my Orange sim card and then open iTunes again but once iTunes sync's with the phone it gives me the "invalid sim card" message again! So I know they have not got round to unlocking mine yet, I even submitted another form off 2 days ago just incase mine was not received / entered any wrong details. Will wait another few days again and see.

They did say it may take up to 14 days.

Yes I know but most people on here who sent off for it early/mid last week have had all their iPhone's unlocked now.

Which is fair comment. I don't understand the need for Olly to roll his eyes.

Ah well. Life's rich tapestry.

Anyone having problems after unlocking?

I got the text yesterday and did a restore of my iPhone last night and got the "Congratulations" message. iPhone mostly works fine, except some apps that access the Internet for info fail... for example if I use the built-in Weather or Stocks app, it tries for just a fraction of a second to download new data (over wifi) but then just says "Update Failed" or similar.

I know the wifi connection is working fine because browsing with Safari is no problem, and some apps work, but others (incl Facebook) just give me a connection error.

Anyone else suffer this?

For some reason i just received my SECOND unlock confirmation text ... this one is the complete version rather than the earlier half finished one but phone was unlocked with 1st one anyway

Mine seems fine, haven't noticed this.

Does it only happen with your other SIM card, or the O2 one as well?

Me too, just got the complete version.

I've not had chance to try another SIM card yet as I'm travelling and haven't got my SIM remover thingy (or anything else that would do the trick). I'm only hoping that it's doing this because I'm currently roaming and will behave when I get back home to the UK. Can't think why this would be the case; just hoping!

That's probably the reason. I've run into plenty of issues when roaming, especially with Data. I don't know why but issues always crop up with the data roaming when Voice and SMS work fine.
