Anyone done this for an old (e.g. 1st gen) iphone for which they don't currently have a SIM? My 1st gen is sitting in a drawer with no sim in it since I upgraded to the 3GS, so I can't really fill in the form on the website since the only O2 number I have is the one currently in use with my 3GS and I won't be eligible to unlock that: also, my 1st gen phone won't be associated with that account any more (I think).

Just fill out the web form for both of them. What's the worst that could happen?

Because we can.

You had your text yet?

I cant believe that it takes so long, what a shabby service.... its not like they are getting any extra cash out of me, as I'm not even with o@ anymore.

Might give my CS contact a call tomorrow..

Same here - still waiting......

They've not done mine either.

today, saturday and sunday, then it will be 2 weeks for the unlock.. i'm tempted to call them today regardless just to see if they can sort it out..

Is anyone use their unlocked iPhone 3Gs on t-mobile - how does this compare to o2 (signal. 3G, dropped calls)?

Thanks

Still waiting here, too.
Registered on the 9th.
Contract runs out in Jan '10
Running out of days to get my text to me within 14 days!

I'm a £35 contract customer with O2 in the last 2 months of an 18 month contract - applied for unlock code on first day & zip, zilch, nada, nichts. come on O2 where's my 'effin' text?

My O2 signal is simply terrible at my desk at work in Central London (!). I get no 3G and 2/3 bars of EDGE. If I get a call I have to walk near a window because, more often than not, the call will break up.

So, this morning, with my newly unlocked 3GS I did a tour of the office asking to borrow colleagues' sim cards. With Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone I got 5 full 3G bars and 5 bars of GPRS.

What a relief to finally have a choice. Bye O2!

They unlocked mine

I upgraded to the 3G on the first day they were on the market, and am still under contract.

I received a text from O2 yesterday that my phone has been unlocked.

FWIW, I am very happy with O2, and will only switch sims when abroad. Further, I'll probably switch to O2 simplicity when my contract runs out and wait for the next generation iPhone to get another contract.

So it's not just me then.

I did call o2, and all they suggested (after they put me on hold for a bit) was to fill the form in again.. blah blah blah...

oh well. i did what they said, so will wait a bit longer...

i've got exactly the same response from them - fill in the form again. They said it's all dealt with in their online system which they have no access to.

I've filled it in twice now (on day one and a few days later) as the first time I did it on my iPhone with a dodgy connection.

Still nothing.

I have just gone out and done the same. I am praying for a more reliable network with faster web and less dropped calls.

I've just received my unlock text and I'm running my phone through the restore in iTunes, as I don't have another SIM handy.

:)

I'm hoping the reason I haven't had my confirmation yet is because they are doing it in alphabetical order and my surname begins with W. :D

LOL. I'm H so if they haven't got to that yet, I am afraid you might be in for a long wait. 72 hours in my case till the 14 days
:):)
