Constantly happens to me. I think it may happen more to those that run either without a case or with a minimal case that leaves those buttons more exposed. But the basic design is a flaw. You shouldn’t have to consciously adjust your grip when picking the device up in order to keep from taking a screen shot. Very non-apple design issue. The fix is to simply make a settings adjustment for users to be able to change if they find it happenning to them more than others.

Happens to me too. Also the flashlight gets accidentally turned on some times. Annoying "features".

I’ve emailed Johnny Ives about this issue
With a link to this thread. Hopefully
( but doubtful) I’ll get an answer.
My take is that the power button needs to be moved down

Happens at least once a day for me while getting it out of my pocket (with official leather case).

Had a few odd looks on the tube because of the camera noise!

Yup. Face ID also doesn’t work as good as it used to. I have to put in my code all the time. Plus phone gets stuck between horizontal and vertical too. Annoying.

Has anyone noticed that they are taking a ton of accidental screenshots with the X? The home button and volume button to screenshot are perfectly aligned - I keep finding myself squeezing the device right at those points and end up with lots of screenshots accidentally being taken.

Anyone else run into this issue too?

Yes, all the time and it’s so annoying!!

This is one of the reason why I’m interested to see the 2018 iPhone lineup. I too keep pressing screenshot frequently

This happens to me all the freaking time. I'm really sick of it. It's the worst thing about the iPhone X. Way worse than the notch.

it’s been taken care of in iOS 12

It’s happen to me many times so hopefully Apple came up with a good solution

What does ios12 do to fix this? Change screenshot procedure?
Pressing both the side button and volume up button at the same time when the screen is off doesn’t take a screenshot anymore. Now you have to actually use the phone to be able to do that.

It hasnt been fixed in latest public beta 3, still takes screenshots all the time. There are only two ways to fix this, physically move the buttons which was poor ergonomics and bad engineering to place two buttons directly across from one another that depress inward, and even more stupidly they made the buttons activate at the same pressure which results in both depressing or random presses. Second fix option is soooo simple, just give us the ability to disable screenshots in settings... just like the apple watch settings does. I have no need to take screenshots.

This is by far the biggest flaw of iPhone X - incorrect button placement.

I fully agree. This is clear a designing fault. Apple should have done the test picking the phone up naturally and inadvertently (like any user would do). If they have done the test they surely have had several shots, therefore they may knew this issue very early, but they didn’t fix it.
Apple must know now that is a big issue for very large users, so I am surprise that they haven’t done anything. Please let me know if Apple has got a fix. Please don’t tell me. That I should keep deleting the screen shots that it is not a fix.

Was there a reason the power button was moved from the top to the side?
