Look for problems and you will find them...Sure if you see this under normal usage and have trutone switched off then by all means go exchange it...Staring a test patterns and looking for faults will make you find them...Same thing on audio visual forums, there are those who watch a movie and there are those who watch their screens. I can tell you who is having more fun ;)

This will hopefully make the strain less on your eyes;

General --> Accessibility --> Zoom

Zoom [OFF]/ON
Follow Focus OFF/[ON]
Smart Typing [OFF]/ON
Show Slider [OFF]/ON

Zoom area --> Zoom the entire screen
Zoom filter --> Low Light

General --> Accessibility --> Activation-button --> Zoom

Now if you click the homebutton thrice it will dimm the screen even lower than otherwise possible with the slide,
this works on the iPhone 5s --> 8. Cus the X has no homebutton im not sure how that would work, but you can always manually enable Zoom and then it will dimm the screen as well, good luck

Im not sure if I got all the terms right cus I translated from Dutch.

Thanks, - I remember that shortcut from the previous iPhones. However, a couple of things that always stopped me:

1.) Before, I didn't like the delay on hitting the button for something to happen (since it waits for additional clicks). It's the same on the iPhone X with the Siri button. - This is a major downer for me.

2.) On the iPhone 7, it just made the screen hazy/grey, rather than ACTUALLY dimming the display. Not sure with the OLED on iPhone X what it's doing - will test later tonight. - EDIT - Tested. Looks like this is much better than on the 7. This does use the OLED's emissive display to lower brightness even further. Very nice.

3.) I can't make the screen not zoom in a little bit, even with Zoom set to off - on the iPhone X. - SOLVED - with double-tapping 3 fingers on the screen.

So... number 1 is the downer for me since I don't like the delay when hitting the Siri button to turning the display off. I solved that for one thing by turning off Apple Pay function with that button (I use my Watch).

In dark apps it's really noticeable, my unit has the same issue. It's so noticeable that at first I thought maybe the app was applying a gradient to the background -- nope, just a duff panel.

This is what mine looks like ...

I got the phone replaced and the new one looks fine in the clock app. I’ve not tried 5% and 10% grey images but in normal use it’s much better so I’m happy with that.

Mine seems pretty uniform

I have the same exact thing going on. However, my screen is not experiencing the yellow tint issue - white's look good. I think I'm going to keep this one. If I go and return, the chances of getting an even worse panel are high.

Also have pink more toward right edge, more visible off angle. How much worse is yellow tint?

Did you do a retail replacement with retail packaging or white box? I’m still contemplating whether or not I should replace my phone...

I haven’t seen a yellow tint issue phone in person but I’m just assuming it’s a worse issue than the pink hue.

I just stopped by the Apple store and looked at all the display models. 5 of 6 iPhone Xs had some sort of edge uniformity issues. Half of them had a slight green hue on the right side of screen, the others had slight pink hue on the right edge. There was only one phone I saw that did not seem to have any hue on the edge.

In other threads people are saying this is an OLED issue and that the galaxy phones had the same thing.

Think I’m going to go ahead and live with it. I hate this panel lottery game. Definitely don’t want to try and exchange and get a worse looking panel.

I just got mine replaced as well, its comes in the white box they wont give you another retail packaging unless you fully return it. It’s still a brand new one in that box

With op image at lowest it looks perfect, but put brightness up and there is some banding near bottom which can also be seen in apps like clock, although can’t notice it with non continuous black like dynamic wallpaper.

Well don't leave out the most important detail!!! Does the screen look more even???!

Do we actually have "screen-gate"'with the iPhone X?! There's always something with each new Apple phone.... *sigh*

OMG, GUYS if we set brightness to lowest and do a bunch of other weird **** nobody's ever gonna do then the screen isn't uniform!@@@!!!@!!! OMG. #SCREENGATE

Lol, exactly. If you notice this under normal conditions, there's an issue. If you have to UP DOWN UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT B A START to see any of it, that's excessive.

Dig up the past, all you get is dirty. Look for problems, you will find them. Don't do that.

They all have it! People who say they don't most likely try it with a plain black pic. That way you can't see it. You need to try it in the clock app. Some banding would be there, nothing too dramatic though. I believe that is the structure of this OLED panel. It's not visible in real life at all. You have to really look for it in that clock app. It's supposed to be dark with brightness maxed out.

Here is one for the true screen obsessives only. To my eye, upon opening a white screen on my X I detect an ever so slight warmth to the upper right quadrant. Curiously, this effect seems to dissipate after a minute or so so that it is nearly undetectable even to my obsessive eyes.

This could be an optical illusion. Perhaps my eyes simply even out the view in short order. But then I noticed a teardown of the X and noticed that the two batteries in the unit or along the bottom third and left half.

So my question is whether the warm-up of the entire device after start impact ever so slightly the tint of the display. One theory would be that the warmth I am detecting in the upper right quadrant is in fact a slightly cooler spot on the unit that eases a bit when the entire handset warms when you wake it up.

Just a theory - and as I said - this is for screen obsessives only.

This screen looks a lot better nothing noticeable in everyday usage or on the grey pictures.

Erica Griffin's new video is out and she doesnt seem to have this problem -
Damn my X looks like the V30 in that video. Might still try and exchange it...
What do you guys think?

I pick mine up on Sunday.......hope it’s as good as either of her 2 units!

That sucks that it's white box already. I setup an exchange via mail and am getting a new fully boxed model.
