That sucks that it's white box already. I setup an exchange via mail and am getting a new fully boxed model.
How did you set that up ? Fellow UK guy here - who at Apple did you call and how did you explain it to them ? I'm in the same boat and would love not to have to go to the Apple Store

It's the same brand-new phone shipped to the stores alongside retail boxes for the purpose of replacing defective units. We're not gonna see any truly refurbished units for another 2-3 months.

Setup a call on the Apple support app and they also gave me support number. When I was called next day (pre arranged time) I explained my issue and stressed I wanted a replacement. They were fine with this after asking a few questions and arranged an expedited replacement which will be triggered once I return device. My understanding is once I physically give it to UPS this should be the trigger.

Could not give a lead time but was promised it would be well under the current 3-4 weeks currently in place for new orders. Potentially a week but not able to give me a definitive time period. This is a little disappointing but great service non the less. What other phone manufacturer offers this level of response? OK Amazon would send a replacement next day on the goods they sell without me even having posted the goods I have in hand but they are very unique.

But that white box alone will have an impact on resale value in the future. Not exceptable for me.

No it won't. As someone who has sold TONS of iPhones, a white box in factory plastic GREATLY outsells a one year old phone thats used.

Just bc the serial number matches the box does not mean at all the resale is higher. Nobody cares about that.

But after a year or whatever use of your white box replacement which is what people are receiving today it won't be in factory plastic. The photo on eBay, which is how I sell, will show a used item in white box. Buyers are going to lean to retail box first surely. I know I would.

I should’ve added that I went to apple not once but twice about it. The first time the guy ran tests on my screen and said it was normal but failed mention to me that it failed the tests he ran. I later called Apple once I got home wanting a replacement because I knew the discoloration on my screen was not normal thats when I found out that it failed the test, and had to drive a hour back to apple to finally get my replacement. Other than that the phone is great.

They dont take your retail box away from you, your old phone goes back in the white box and gets shipped back. Not a big deal for me since the upgrade program don’t have to deal with reselling.

I see, sorry I didn't realise this.

Thoughts on this panel? Lowest brightness using the most recent link for solid color provided in this thread.

I recognize I’m very compulsive when it comes to this type of things. Please let me know if the variance here is a concern or acceptable.

Thanks.

So now you want someone to make you more “compulsive” ?? If you don’t see the issue or it doesn’t bother you why go look for problems?

TBH I stated that to avoid comments like yours.

Yes, I see the three lines which have uneven greyscale uniformity. My question is wether or not this is within the norm for these panels. It does bother me. If I exchange it is there a higher likelihood of it being worse?

Edit: Just read your other posts. Your response follows a unhelpful and trolling pattern that is consistently seen elsewhere. Please leave this thread.

Let me pack my bags so I can move back under my bridge , please be patient!

Who looks at a gray screen is what I am trying to ask you , if not seen in regular use why look for issues?!

So I tried this and all I see is pitch black, lol. Literally just all black-am I doing it wrong? Because I know you said the color should be gray.

My second unit doesn't have the pink edges luckily buuuut I have noticed that the top area of the display is noticeably dimmer than the bottom area. It is pretty annoying now, lol.

That can be the crappy part of panel lottery:

Solve one problem only to come across a new one

Good luck

Exactly the reason I didn’t go swap out my pink edge panel. It’s such a lottery and may end up with a worse panel. Are you going to take that one back too?
