And your post is actually a good example of why I won't buy an X. Please keep in mind these are all based upon MY needs and wants.
Wireless charging - Meh, So I have to buy an wireless charger. But why since my wired charging is already set up in the car and at home. Money saved, estimate $100 (that is an estimate for the  wireless mat)
Wireless audio - Has never been a use for me, wired or wireless
Face ID - I would never use, I want my wife to be able to use my iPhone if she has to (Cost unknown)
3D Touch - I will play stupid, I don't even know or care what that is.
Battery life - ???
I actually bought an 8 and had it for ten days, it was $300 less than the X so figured with not using face id, and already not going to do wireless charging even though the 8 has it, thought it worth the gamble.

Returned the 8 after 10 days for 2 reasons:
1. 4 butt dials while carrying in a belt holster. My 6S never butt dialed, ever.
2. Haptic home button. Didn't care for it, in fact found it slightly annoying.

Money saved - Well it was at least $700 saved, and maybe the $1k that the 8 experience convinced me not to spend on an X. And I now hardly ever buy the first iteration of any new product anymore, the butt dial on the 8 is a good example. Getting tired of being the guinea pig for big corporations.

Wow. OK? Butt dials are absolutely a software issue. There are no inherent hardware differences that would make one more susceptible to butt dials.

You don't HAVE to use Face ID. Your wife can just unlock with a PIN. Problem solved.

It seems like you're just not wanting to spend money on a new phone. Which is fine. But the many of the features you mentioned are pretty compelling for lots of people.

I agree with you. It's why I said these are my reasons. But basically, with those two issues, and the price of the iphone, it just didn't give me the wow factor. "It's $1000 for a fricken phone" to use a quote from elsewhere in this website.

It’s a lot more than just a phone.

Reality check. It’s no more capable than an 8. Q1 will show the low demand. There will be very little difference in units sold between the X and 8+. :apple:

You’re right. The 8 is capable of doing 3D face detection using an IR camera that shoots 30k dots at your face. It also has a secondary camera that has OIS and a 2.4 aperture. It also has a screen that is capable of full HDR10. Or it has none of those and you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Ha ha ha ha. Very funny. New Year's Eve is tomorrow night, no?

You don't understand how many of the 135 MILLION iPhone 6 owners from Q4 2014 never upgraded to the 7 and thought the 8 was weak.

We all got the iPhone X. I myself bought 4 of them.

None of those make it more than a phone than the 8 is. The X is a Beta Device. :apple:

Yeah, like we've never heard that one before.

No one cares about the 7 or the 8. iPhone 6 owners held out for something better, turned out to be the X, and we're buying them in the tens of millions. Estimates from analysts put sales in the neighborhood of 35 MILLION units. That would mean it generated around $40 BILLION DOLLARS in revenue.

Some "beta". LOL.

How is it a beta device?

You do know what beta means, right?

Look. I understand you like your X. Great, I’m happy for your. I’m not sold on Face ID at all. It was released on early and is too quirky. Maybe by gen 2 I’ll look at it. And only in a 6.5” at $899.:apple:

Whether or not I like it is irrelevant. Beta has a meaning. This isn’t a beta. This is a first gen Face ID. Whether or not you’re sold on it is irrelevant to whether or not it’s beta.

Wife and I held our 6s for something that fancied us, and that happened to be the X. We both now own an X

Unless you’ve spent any real time with it you can’t fairly accuse FaceID of being “quirky”. It needs the time to learn you. There is a degree of software learning involved and after time it only seems to get better. Mine is almost perfect by now. Unlocks every time. Apple Pay may still occasionally fail to authenticate first time but does by second no prob. If this is a beta product it’s the best beta I’ve ever used.

I laugh at people who whine about the price also. This is Apple. Expensive products is kinda their thing.

A base level iMac is typically at least 1k. The iPhone X is a handheld Mac capable of pretty much the same things with the inclusion of a high quality OLED screen plus FaceID.

Still. The device is not for everyone and I get that.

When I read others who label the iPhone X a beta device, really what you're saying is is that it's a phone that you don't approve of To disparage against it. That's fine that you don't like the iPhone X for various reasons or don't want to support it, but it's not a beta device and the term is used out of context.

Not anymore. You watch YouTube videos after all.

And just as well. If you did too you'd know just how screwed the iphone will become in a few years. It's scary for Apple what rival companies are doing.

While Apple relies on app developers for iphone popularity, Google is looking at alternatives to mobile applications. I bet you weren't even aware of that because you're too constrained in your ecosystem which, it seems, means avoiding youtube.

Google will be a lot better placed to manage the change I refer to above, when that happens.

Lack of innovation is what will kill the iphone in the long run, which is as ironic as it gets.

X did awesome? Lol who told you that? Click the link I posted.

Btw I've watched 5 smartphone of 2017 videos from 5 credible smartphone review youtubers in the past day and the Note 8 literally won every one of them.

Apparently Samsung is looking to capitalise on pushing the iphone x sales furrher down the spectrum with the s9. Crook's vision of adding less and less but charging more and more is starting to catch up with him.

But hey, if you like reciving less and less but paying more and more, don't let this post stop you.

Baseless jabs????? Ummmm no, not a baseless jab at all. In fact, calling him Crook was well justified. Do I need to remind you of Tim Crook's Appe intentionally slowing down iphones which Geekbench exposed and forced Apple to admit to? And now there's many class action lawsuits against the company. And you think I gave a baseless jab??? No lol, me calling him a Crook was not a baseless jab.

This would never happen under Jobs, even if intentions were good, Jobs would have been transparent about it from the start.

Tim Crook it is.
First of all we don’t know how well or badly the iPhone X has done. Also we have not heard any reports of the note 8 or S8 selling spectacularly either. I think most of the sales Apple didn’t get for the X are going to other iPhones like the 7 or the 8.

Generally curious to your response on this, how Do you apply the term innovation to the iPhone and how do you think that's going to contribute to the fall of the iPhone? Additionally, How is that ironic if it hasn't happened yet?

How transparent was Jobs about the iPhone 4 manufacturing flaw which led to anttena gate? He wasn’t he just blamed the users and said we were holidng it wrong....

For people like us who are interested in tech that stuff sounds quite cool. For the average iPhone user who doesn’t use half the features on an iPhone already? I’m not sure they would care. My wife has used iPhones longer than me and if I described the features you just have, she’d probably shrug her shoulders. I’m seeing more and more people keeping their iPhones past the end of their contracts or buying older models on reduced rates.

Although the X is a lovely device, I don’t feel it appealed as widely as say the iPhone 6. The price was a disadvantage too.

Look at the changes and thoughts put in the X, then compare it to the Note 8 (their screen size is actually the only change) and Pixel 2 XL (machine learning created this device), which are priced similarly

I’d shrug my shoulders because I’m not really tech savvy either but

I would still buy an X over the 8 because I would want the plus size and the extra room. The difference in price is shrug worthy compared to the screen quality (that I would notice) with smaller bezel, almost edge to edge screen.
