And just as well. If you did too you'd know just how screwed the iphone will become in a few years. It's scary for Apple what rival companies are doing.

While Apple relies on app developers for iphone popularity, Google is looking at alternatives to mobile applications. I bet you weren't even aware of that because you're too constrained in your ecosystem which, it seems, means avoiding youtube.

Google will be a lot better placed to manage the change I refer to above, when that happens.

Lack of innovation is what will kill the iphone in the long run, which is as ironic as it gets.
The purpose of YouTube isn’t trained and educated journalism. It is to monetise opinion pieces. Followers equal money. Click bait equals money. Shock and awe equals money. Doesn’t make any of it true though ;)

Look at the changes and thoughts put in the X, then compare it to the Note 8 (their screen size is actually the only change) and Pixel 2 XL (machine learning created this device), which are priced similarly
Well that’s not true the note 8 had a New design compared the the note 7. It also had new software guestures. Also I don’t think the note should loose points because the iPhone X implement features that the note has had for years like wireless charging, high resolution oled displays and facial recognition.

I’d shrug my shoulders because I’m not really tech savvy either but

I would still buy an X over the 8 because I would want the plus size and the extra room. The difference in price is shrug worthy compared to the screen quality (that I would notice) with smaller bezel, almost edge to edge screen.
Price is always subjective I understand. I don’t put enough value in screen quality and never have so would pay £300 more for a screen I’m told is better. I don’t mind bezels either but understand many are obsessed with getting rid of them. I’m probably not the target customer of the X. If the price was lower I’d get it, but I think consumers like me need to be excited by a product to want to pay a silly amount for it and I’m just not in all honesty. It’s just another iPhone to me and a rather expensive one at that.

I’d rather have features implemented and integrated well then just smacked on because it is a feature. A great example is that I’ve never liked the characteristic of the Samsung phone screens for example. Didn’t like it of the original Galaxy and didn’t like it of my S7 Edge, just looked so unnatural. Yes sure Apple is late to that feature party, but it is done right. Same with Face ID, the concept existed for a long time, but never done right and this is very very good for a first implementation.

Look I do think the X is a good phone and ultimately I choose it over the note 8. However the point I was making was that I don’t think it’s fair to say all the note 8 has done is to increase its screen size.

Agreed, it’s biggest achievement is being allowed on planes again :)

The Note 8 is a stunning phone. I’ve looked at it while out shopping and it’s one of those devices that really attracts you to it. I can see why most of the tech reviewers on YouTube and even on mainstream tech media are giving it top spot for 2017.

The only problem is it runs Android. Like yourself I just prefer the continuity of iOS across multiple devices. We used to say iOS was less buggy but we can’t really claim that any more with the shocker that is iOS 11, but it’s still an interface that is familiar and easy to use for the most part. If the Note 8 was running iOS then it would probably be the best phone package ever made IMO. The best hardware combined with the best OS.

Yep totally agreee. I couldn’t fault the phone. It was flawless. The reason why I don’t have it anymore is because it doesn’t run iOS. It’s that simple.

I have been saying since the Keynote that the X is a massive disappointment.

Obviously not everyone agrees with me and people still went out and bought it anyway and are happy with it, and that's fine.

But the bottom line is, for a 10 year special edition iphone, the X failed to deliver on a device worthy of a 10 year anniversary Apple smartphone.

Okay you replaced TID with FID, but why make a biometric system the killer feature on the device when it simply replaced another biometric system. And then to charge ($1500 in Australia) for a device which offered nothing really new, is it any surprise that sales are down?

Accoring to the link, sales are down and Apple's share price has suffered as a result.

If, as a tech consumer product company, you keep offering very little in terms of innovation yet keep charging more, this is what happens. I don't need to have an MBA to know this, it's common sense and you think Tim Cook would know this too but apparently he doesn't. The only thing Tim Cook knows to do is drive the bus that Steve Jobs built.

Brand loyalty can only get you so far. And with the competition offering more and more innovation, things won't change unless Apple does an about face and gets serious about the iphone again.

If all people wanted was to keep the ecosystem in tact with a solid decvice for 2017, the iphone 8/ 8 Plus would have done the job sublimely. But a 10 year edition device had to be much more than what the X was.

It's not like Apple has not been in the wars before because of stupid decisions it made. Once upon a time Steve Jobs had to come back and rescue it, unfortunately he won't be around a second time if Tim Crook keeps slowing down the innovation and all the while increasing the price.

this is like the 3rd topic you have made on the x and why people shouldn't buy it.

everybody who has one enjoys it.

this isn't just about the ecosystem it's what the phone does and it having features many have always wanted.

the iPhone X is the best phone on the market for my needs and why would you post such a topic with nothing to back up your claims?

the x still has likely destroyed sales when it comes to android devices. They certainly have sold more than the note 8 which many consider the best phone.

so make up your mind does sales matter or not?

apple is going to remain great and the phone everybody will buy. that's not going to change anytime soon.

I understand your point, just don't count that 2d facial recognition here.

Apple just sold 35 MILLION iPhone X's in 8 weeks. That's $43 BILLION DOLLARS in revenue. Add in another 20 MILLION iPhone 8's, add in another 10 MILLION 7's and SE's, you're probably looking at 65 MILLION iPhone's sold in the last two months.

As a point of comparison, the Note 8 has sold 12 MILLION units. The iPhone is screwed!

Exactly right. iPhone owners don't know anything about Android because we would never want one.

Google will be a lot better placed to manage the change I refer to above, when that happens.

Oh, the scary "change". You mean the one that has been predicted since 2009 and hasn't happened?

Speaking of Google, they better watch out with all the spying they're doing through their devices. I have been on the internet since 1994 and I have never purchased an item through a banner ad or paid placement, ever. Google is dangerously close to robocalls on the list of invasive annoyances. Bad enough they watch my browsing behavior on a notebook; I can't imagine the depths of privacy loss being watched on a smartphone.

Lack of innovation is what will kill the iphone in the long run, which is as ironic as it gets.

I love when people go down this road of "innovation". Here....tell us all....list the innovations in Android that make it better than the iPhone X. Here's a template. Fill in the blanks:

Like others have said, this is your 3rd iPhoneX bashing topic, just admit you can't afford it instead acting like a child.

and using articles, that confirms your opinions, as fact while it is a so called "expert" that thinks it will fail.

When I read others who label the iPhone X a beta device, really what you're saying is is that it's a phone that you don't approve of To disparage against it. That's fine that you don't like the iPhone X for various reasons or don't want to support it, but it's not a beta device and the term is used out of context.

When I refer to the X as a Beta Device I am referencing Face ID. Nothing else. :apple:
[doublepost=1514732942][/doublepost]
Don't pay attention to the differences as the attempt to deflect to something else is being made.

I’m not. Face ID was released in a Beta state. As was iOS 11 and Mac OS 10.13. It’s Apple 2017.That is a fact. Not a deflection. :apple:

Out of interest what features has the X brought that we haven’t seen before? It’s all well trying to differentiate the flagship phones now but from where I am the X is finally delivering what we’ve known to be on Android for years.

Then again the minority of iPhone users that ‘don’t know a thing about Android or care’ wouldn’t be aware of this... iPhone users like myself are aware of what other manufacturers are up to.

Yep, I knew the sales would be bad on the X but no one believed me. The price is just too much for the normal consumer. When it costs more than a computer, something is wrong.

For people like us who are interested in tech that stuff sounds quite cool. For the average iPhone user who doesn’t use half the features on an iPhone already? I’m not sure they would care. My wife has used iPhones longer than me and if I described the features you just have, she’d probably shrug her shoulders. I’m seeing more and more people keeping their iPhones past the end of their contracts or buying older models on reduced rates.

Although the X is a lovely device, I don’t feel it appealed as widely as say the iPhone 6. The price was a disadvantage too.

The average person could also be happy with a 350$ Android Phone.

Still waiting.

Nearly everything on the X has come from Android OEM’s.

The notch
OLED
Facial recognition
Wireless charging (not fast charging as seen on Android)

You wouldn’t know this though because you’ve admitted you haven’t got a clue what is on Android devices. You’re out of your depth because you’ve never taken an interest.

What has the X got that we haven’t already seen elsewhere? Give us 10...

It is 2018. The iPhone X exists. You can't pretend it doesn't. Wireless charging, facial recognition....all this exists in iPhone right now, today, I've got these in my pants pocket right now on an Apple device. It's not something "innovative that separates Android from iPhone" any more.

And if you want to play the game of "who stole what from whom" I'd list all the hardware and software features that Android stole from Apple and iOS going back to 2007 but it would take me a week to list them all.

So here you go, again, for the 5th time. You claim Android Samsung 8 Note whatever is sooooo much better than iPhone X, so give us proof, show us in detail:
