I do at times. If you're one of those people that had your phone unlocked before looking at it, then you will miss it. FaceID for the most part works. At first it worked great, but every blue moon when you want to take a quick glance it something, you have to hit the power button and stare again.
I'm going to take the attention setting off and see if that works better for me, cause having to pick it up every time is a PITA.
No, you have it backwards. My wife and I don't have secrets, in fact we share the same password for our phones. I'm still rocking the SE, my wife has an X. But I can't unlock it with Face ID, like I could with Touch ID. It just means it's more inconvenient for me to use her phone than it used to be.Da*n... trust issues??
I love Face ID. Touch ID was nice, but this is clearly the next step. It works like an product should.
Lack of TouchID was my biggest concern with the X. Unlocking is pretty seamless, but I was worried about ApplePay. After using it, I can report that it's just as convenient but a little different. In a way, it's easier than TouchID and probably more intuitive. It's really just double clicking the side button instead of holding the TouchID button. I was worried that the attention feature would be inconvenient, but turns out I'm already looking at the phone to make sure it's going through. It happens so fast you don't even realize it happened. Another thing is that it is probably more secure in that you won't inadvertently activate ApplePay as I often did by double clicking the home button. Double clicking the side button isn't as common and you have to deliberately make that action. Small learning curve, but it's pretty dang quick. The one thing that could possibly be more inconvenient is if you use the Underground pay terminals without looking. I never ApplePay without confirming it's working and it's the right card, so not an issue for me. For others, it could be since it's nice to get taptic feedback on TouchID without even looking that it's working. G*dd*mn it's a nice phone.Hi everyone - just as the question says, (particularly iPhone 6s and 7 users since there was faster Touch ID)
Do you miss Touch ID? This is the main thing holding me back from upgrading my 7.
I use Touch ID all the time for things like coffees and apps for banking and also using the London Underground.
I’m travelling to Canada this Christmas so the phone will be a BIT cheaper than the UK, just wondering if I’ll miss my 7?
Thoughts?
Is Face ID cumbersome compared to Touch ID?
Will face ID work say if you are laying in bed, and your phone is on your night stand. I like to lean over and check my phone while its on the night stand without picking it up. And usually I barely have to talk my head off the pillow to do that. Seem like face ID would have trouble with you if were still laying on your bed.
From Apple’s own Face ID help page:
“Make sure that your eyes, nose, and mouth are fully visible to the TrueDepth camera.
Face ID works with many sunglasses. If you're wearing sunglasses designed to block certain types of light, then your sunglasses might be blocking the infrared light used by the TrueDepth camera. Try using Face ID without your sunglasses.”

nope.. now i am swiping up on my work iphone 6
Yes, so far my Face ID works with all my sunglasses (I have about 7 pairs because, uh, I like sunglasses). Both polarized and non-polarized, glass and poly-carbonate. I do think some reported some issues with Ray-Ban Wayfarers, so I imagine they may block IR.
