Lol, I can customize a hec of a lot more than the home screen. Maybe you don't know what it can do. I assumed you did. If you don't know then I don't have the time to text all I can do to it.

And all you have to give up for that supposed customization is:
Fast updates
Better processor
Better speakers
Better tablet app srupport
Basically all pro level apps
And with Samsung likely being at 7.1? Proper color calibration, meaning it isn’t even as good at watching movies.

It doesn't matter how many times I read this phrase or hear it... it is soooooooooooo wrong and 100% the opposite of what you actually mean. . Aarrgghhh!!!

It isn’t wrong

The average user isn’t somebody who uses tech forums. It’s people who use their phones for just the basics.

Yeah, which means they couldn’t care less. Saying they could care less means they do care, at least a little.

Dead how? Samsung sells many of them. And they make a watch, but I don't wear a watch so don't want one
Dead because they are still awful. Apps wise it’s not even a fair comparison.

Give me a good tablet experience over a phone any day.

I’m sure some do but even those who buy android phones I bet the average user just keeps what comes with the phone meaning staying on TW for example without adding different pages or widgets.

A lot wouldn’t know they even exist so some may just stick with an app layout for their home screen.

It' nothing to do with phones or tech forums or anything of the such. You are suggesting that the person has no interest in changing their home screen. So they care a zero amount. You should have used the phrase "they couldn' care less" I.e. less than the zero amount they are currently at. But if you use the duff phrase "they could care less" , you are suggesting they care a small amount more than zero.. So it is possible to care slightly less. But as we have already established they care zero amount, so it really isn't physically possible to care less then zero, hence.. ,"they couldn' care less!!"

You are welcome...

This is a forum where it’s very obvious the point that was made. Making a post how it was phrased shows a lack of maturity

It’s about as useful as me telling you to use paragraphs in your replies. Luckily this isn’t English class and really how it’s spelt or phrased isn’t relevant. It’s the point and how it comes across.

If how somebody spells something in their post bothers you so much then I suggest you leave the forum or don’t respond.

It really comes down to your other devices. If you use Windows and an Android tablet then it makes sense to get an S9 or some other Android device.

But if you have a Mac and/or iPad then they all work really well together. The fact that you can text and answer calls on your mac is awesome. They all work together very nicely, which of course is the ecosystem.

That is exactly what I said and why I stay with Apple. Hands down the best most seamless integration and handoff between devices. No additional apps to add; just activate handoff on all your devices and the rest is taken care of.

When it works and doesn't bug. I've been many issues with Handoff not working and then randomly working and the next day it wouldn't work again, also the very slow copying between devices.

Maybe, I wouldn't know what percentage does what with it but I don't use TW. First thing I do is install Nova and set it up how I want it to work.
I actually like the dialer so I don't mess with that, and I like stock messages but use Truecaller because it detects spam, scams, ...those unwanted calls and I get a bunch of those.
I don't sweat the updates. It's working fine and don't care If I'm on Oreo or not. I get updates from T-Mobile all the time and my Apps update often.

It’s kind of sad that people think you’re bashing the Note8 by saying it stutters. It does if you stick with the TW Launcher. I’m guessing most reviewers who don’t see stutter changes to something else.
I stick to TW and haven't had issues. I use an Exynos variants though.

I don't mess with Launchers as infind that not a single one seems to do everything I want the way TW Launcher does it, especially since I use a lot of TW Widgets like the Calender List View and Music Widget.

I have a Note8 with a Snapdragon, and the animations eventually start to stutter if I don’t turn them off. And no, a launcher shouldn’t need the more powerful Exynos to run at a smooth 60fps.

I doubt it's about power, it seems to be more of an optimisation thing.

TW is built to run on Exynos, it always has been since the Hummingbird CPUS in the 1st Galaxy S. It's almost as if the Snapdragon support is just shoehorned in to make it work, IMO.

There was a time where Snapdragon was more powerful, particularly in the time of the Snapdragon 800, where it's GPU was far ahead of anything in Exynos, yet Exynos even then ran better.

To me, that says something bad about Samsung.

Whatever contractual obligation they have to use Qualcomm chips in the USA and China really needs to end now.

Oh, it does. It needs to end ASAP. But until then? Don’t provide an inferior experience to SD users.

I feel like Samsung sweeps that under the rug. The average user probably expects their phone to degrade over time. Whether that is battery life, aging software, etc; it does not matter. An average person probably doesn't know about Exynos processors. So they do not realize their phone is at some disadvantage.

Back in 2012, one of my then customers brought up the name "Exynos processor" to me and I had to dig up into why he preferred one over the conventional Snapdragons, Tegra 2, and other SoCs. Samsung used the Exynos in the S6/S6E/Note 5 because the 810 was a overheating mess. They also neuter the Exynos a bit because they could've put 4k/60 FPS in the Note 8 if they wanted to do so. Samsung poorly optimizes its devices as the prime Android OEM.

Project Treble will not help with monthly patches because Samsung is notoriously slow w/ updates. They know they don't need to rush them out because people can upgrade yearly or every other year.

Reviews will be telling more for me than ever because the Note 8 didn't inspire confidence in me. A Moto X4 has cleaner software for me anyways. I also like how it has the Moto Screen features and performs well with only a Snapdragon 6XX series processor.

You forgot the "for me" part, for me Pixel sits on top of everyone.

Most reviewers and smartphone experts generally agree that the Pixel had the best camera on a phone in 2017. But they also agree that the Note was the best phone in 2017.
