While updating this app, all of my previous information got deleted :(

It's alright though, I still love the app. Keep up the good work! Thanks.

Did you update via iTunes from the phone ie is there a correlation of data loss with mode of update?!?!

Really good question. Can everyone who experienced data loss explain how they installed the update? I still can't track it down. :( Apple should *really* give users the option to send a crash report to the developer when an app crashes. Otherwise we just get a bunch of emails from people yelling at us, with no idea what to do. :D

bet ya a beer OTA update is the problem....;)

I lost all of my data on update. (Luckily, I didn't have much data in it).

Here is how I updated:
I went into the app store on the iPhone, went to Updates, chose your app, hit update, entered my password, watched it appear on my homescreen and start downloading, and then I locked my iPhone. I came back about 10-15 minutes later, downloaded another app, opened up yours, and I found that all of my data was gone...

It isn't a big deal for me, I'm just glad for the update. iProcrastinate is still my one and only task manager (and it will stay that way)! Thanks for the update, I love the improvements.

Though, I do have a feature request (2 actually).
1. In settings, give us a new option for default due day, so that we can set the due date automatically to be due tomorrow instead of in 1 week.
2. If you link the new task and edit task together, you should be able to change the name (like it is now) and the due date (new).

Thanks again!

Could you be more specific? You're editing the due date for a task, and there's no button in the upper-left corner of the screen to go back? What is the right area that works?

The place where the button should be, the upper left hand corner, still works if you tap it, but no button can be seen.

Also, in the subjects view, if you have not entered anything under subject notes, it just says "note" unless you go in and delete it.

Edit: The button only does not show up if the task has no title.

Good news

Hi Craig,
Good news, I forget to tell you.
Last week, my article about iPhone's was published in Japan.
In that article, I mentioned iProcrastinate mobile is one of the best ToDo app for iPhone.
I hope this will help Japanese people to know your nice application.;)

I'm sorry the quality of photo is not so nice...
I took them with my iPhone.

Yup, the update works great! :) None of my data was lost and everything else seems to be running fine...

hey Craig, have you ever thought about changing the size of the subject boxes btw? On the main screen, I have 15 of them total (8 classes, 4 extracurriculars, 3 smart groups), and it's a bit bothersome to have to scroll so much because only 5 subjects seem to fit on the screen at once. It might just be me but I find it rather comfortable to see the majority of my schedule on the screen at once.

Oh, and just out of curiosity, where do you propose to fit the "grades" feature in? :)

And WOW. What a splendid idea :) I'm actually thinking of publishing my own review on Craig's app in the school newspaper for all the iPhone users in the area..

Hi Craig,

can add my voice to the people who would like to se this kept as a 'generic' task manager. Introduction of things like grades etc pigeonholes the app and you would lose a lot of users potentially. Why cant people put their grades in a note for example..

anyway, just my $0.02 worth..

Hey Craig

Thanks for the great app, exactly what I need for uni tbh so very much appreciated.

Since there's so good communication with this being developed, I thought I should recommend a feature I was thinking would be small, but useful.

When putting in a new task, you need to set the due date. This is great, but I believe there should also be an option for an open/undecided date. There are a lot of cases when I have something needing to be done in the near future with not a specific time period, or even just for a list of things to remember to do when you're free.

Although I've read through a lot of this thread, I'm not sure if it's been noted already (probably), but thought I'd go ahead and say anyway.

And if i've missed it in the app...sorry!

Again, thanks, and keep up the great work.

Graeme

Edit: btw, for the discussion, I don't really like the idea of grades. Even if people are using it for school stuff, there's not always grades involved, and I don't even see them being kept in it being very useful. This is to remind you, not to keep achievement. I would say you don't want to keep people away who don't use it for school. That's just what I was thinking on that issue anyway. Thanks.

Great app Craig, really, really like it. I updated and all my data was saved. (Updated via the iPhone not iTunes).

Love all the changes and the tasks due number that sits on the app icon now. Great to be able to e-mail the tasks to my PC/MAC as well.

Keep up the good work.

I updated my phone via iTunes. I didn't have much information stored, so it wasn't a big problem.

I start college in less than a week, I can't wait to make great use of this app. Thanks again!

That's true... but keeping track of grades isn't that simple. =T
The grades feature wasn't requested to simply record grades;
it was so that multiple assignments/tests could be taken to CALCULATE the overall grade for numerous classes. If teachers/professors actually took the time to constantly calculate and update students on their current grades, and it was only a matter of recording them somewhere, no one would have bothered to ask for such features on an app in the first place.

I think the solution I proposed earlier would keep everyone happy.
On/off by subject. Default: Off.
I'm sure non-students wouldn't mind another option in their settings. And it would offer students a good tracking system per assignment that's already in their phone.

ok, thats cool but it might be better named 'Grades' or something rather than Tasks. All I menat was that if the whole app experience is decorated with student-oriented gadgets, I probably wont use it because navigating around the extra (ie not relevant to me) stuff would be irritating.

Anyway, whatever happens, its a great app and very well executed!

Great job on the app so far.

When can we expect syncing? I was really hoping it would be live before the next school year kicked in.

(That's device to desktop syncing btw)

Thanks :)

I wish I had a date, but I'm not really sure at this point. I'm working with Apple to resolve a few timing issues between the Intel/ARM processors resulting in some OTA data transfer issues.

Hopefully in the next week or two? :p

:D Well, as much as I'm craving it - take your time and get it right. This app is spot on so far.

Did you get my earlier feedback on the desktop version? I asked if there were any plans to make a 'stickies' type note of due assignments/tasks etc that would sit on your desktop. It's a feature that would truly make it a killer app.

If you did it in that, that would be AMAZING!

Glad you hear you guys are so excited. I'm working as fast as I can. :)

Here's the desktop version as of right now. I'm working on the basics first, making sure that everything loads, works, etc. Then I'll pretty it up. ;) Would anyone be interested in beta testing?

beta testing

Hey Craig,

I'd love to do beta testing for your app. Just downloaded it last week in hopes of syncing with the iPhone app. I'm looking forward to that, but I'd love to help out in the meantime! :)

Hey,
This is a great app! I've been using it for a few days now alongside Appigo's To Do ($9.99). I'm still trying to decide which I like more. There's just a few things keeping me from ditching To Do and sticking with iProcrastinate. (For the record, I'm a college student using these primarily to keep track of homework assignments, but I also use them to make grocery lists or keep track of other random things I have to do.)

First, it would be nice to be able to set the app to open up in a specific subject or list. The thing I really like about To Do is the ability to quickly open the app and immediately be shown a list of all my assignments in order of due date (or priority). In iProcrastinate, I have to open the app, and scroll down to either my "All Tasks" smart list (why is there no option to view all tasks?) or "Due Soon" smart list and then I can see the assignments I have due soon. I understand it's only an extra step or two, but when switching between the apps, it makes a big difference.

Second, and this has been mentioned before, it seems as though there should be an option to move "Smart Groups" above "Subjects" on the main screen.

Third, (and this may be the biggest thing keeping me from going with iProcrastinate) in some of my subjects I already have 10+ tasks added, and when opening the subject, it can look quite disorganized or visually overwhelming. It would be really nice to have the lists broken up into sections, such as "This week" "next week" "future"...etc. This is something else To Do does that really adds to overall ease of use.

Finally, and perhaps least importantly, for some reason, in tasks view, I really wish it would display "days" and "weeks" instead of just "4 D" or "1 W, 2 D". I don't know why but this bothers me...?

Other than these things, I find your program to be superior to To Do, if some of these changes/additions can be incorporated in future versions, I would love to ditch To Do and donate to you (since you seem to not want to charge for the app...I for one would GLADLY pay for it!).

Thank you.
