iProcrastinate

Craig,

I echo earlier comments about it being a fantastic app. I'm not quite sure why you are not charging for it. You've put your time and effort into it.

Glad you hear you guys are so excited. I'm working as fast as I can. :)

Here's the desktop version as of right now. I'm working on the basics first, making sure that everything loads, works, etc. Then I'll pretty it up. ;) Would anyone be interested in beta testing?

count me in :)

I'd be more than happy to help beta test.

I don't have a mac so I can't beta test, but if you need testing for the ipod or windows, I'll gladly test for you.

I'd help test if you still need a few people.

Hey guys! Glad to hear you're interested. I'm still working out a few kinks in the desktop software. Once it's ready, I'll post it here, along with the mobile App as well. Then, I'll send a few PM's out with provisioning profiles to run it on your device. :)

Awesome, thank you very much!
Did you read my note on something that would be a great addition to the desktop version of the app?

i like the new version of the app...

i'd like to remove the subjects title however, it's kind of pointless to me?

I'll certainly beta test. The app has been useless for me because I haven't had to use it for anything outside of being at home really, but I start school next week and well, syncing is the thing I need.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5B108 Safari/525.20)

Lately I've been back in school and started using the app. I'm liking it so far. Syncing is my biggest need I've found. I was pretty excited when I did get the last update. Keep up the good work man, and keep me in mind if you need testing.

I just started a class in C++ by the way.

I just want to make sure you noticed this BUG (i posted it earlier on too):

When something is overdue, if you change the due date or change it to completed it still says "x overdue!" in the subject/smart group

Yep, got that one fixed. Waiting another day or two to hear if any other bug reports come in before I release 1.2 Then 1.3 should have the syncing. :)

cant wait 4 1.3, will 1.2 include iphone 2 iphone syncing, or no, just bug fixes?

That's true... but keeping track of grades isn't that simple. =T
The grades feature wasn't requested to simply record grades;
it was so that multiple assignments/tests could be taken to CALCULATE the overall grade for numerous classes. If teachers/professors actually took the time to constantly calculate and update students on their current grades, and it was only a matter of recording them somewhere, no one would have bothered to ask for such features on an app in the first place.
Agree.

This is where I get confused as to why iProcrastinate should keep track of the student's grades.

IMHO, a simple Excel or Numbers spreadsheet would be much more easy to setup, use and monitor than a ToDo list. Plus with Excel or Numbers, the student can enter any possible grade combination. :)

I would think it best to keep a ToDo application focused on it's core competencies.

some bugs I have found:

In the settings menu the link task progression and the other slider don't stay all the time when you put them on.
Also in the settings, the way of sorting automatically changes to index after I exit.

That's all I've found, great app though

Most likely just bug fixes. There's a small chance it will include mobile to mobile sharing, but I'm still working with Apple on some timing issues with the networking code.

Yea, this is fixed in 1.2 To be specific, the issue was that the original settings page didn't require you to scroll, so the sliders just stayed where you put them, and the actual settings were written when the user clicked the "Done" button. Now, since you can scroll and put the sliders off the screen, they're reset to the value of the settings before they were changed. In 1.2, when you slide the controls, then the settings are set immediately.

Someone asked for a real calendar.
So I agree, if possible, can you implement a mini calendar instead of the current "slot machine" selector style calendar (while still having "today, tomorrow, next week")
or if that's not possible/too bulky
then how abut this:
If it's on August | 31 | 2008
and you change the 31 to 01, it will also change the August to September...?

And just to reiterate a feature I'd like: If one of the defaults could be "next weekday". Every new task would be created with this as the default if set. And if the day was Monday, it would be due tuesday, and if it was friday, due monday.

Thanks!

I personally think it's fine without a calendar implimented.
Does the apple iPhone allow you to use the iPhones calendar? If so, that'd be an easy solution to what the previous poster asked.

Tasks.
You know, the one thing that's missing from the mobile app for me (aside from syncing) is the ability to make notes based on 'nothing'. As in, a non class collection of notes. This would allow it to replace Apple's 'Notes' app.

The step-by-step feature.
I love that I can add steps to a task. But using it feels a little underwhelming. One major thing missing from it is the ability to put a date/time onto a step. In fact, there have been many tasks where I've needed 'step-in-step-in-step'. I don't think this would be hard to implement, nor would it be overkill. If you want the feature, it's there to use, if not, ignore it.

Grades.
I love the idea of grades (as long as we can tell the app how much credit the grade accounts for - for example, two of my classes are worth 30 credits, but the other 4 are worth only 15 each. it would need to be able to work out a grade average from these things).
I don't want to have to make a spread sheet to keep track of it, and having it all in one already excellent app would really make mine, and I'm sure a lot of others', life easier.

Thank you again for this Craig. You're putting many devs on the app store to shame. be proud.

i would love maybe a "week at a glance" view. especially since the iphone's calendar neglects this feature. maybe just to visually see what assignments are due this week. just my 2 cents

Grades

I don't see why a grades function on the application couldn't be turned off under settings. It would make those who like to use it as an assignment planner for school be able to use it as such, and then those who just want it as a task manager don't have to deal with the school settings.

I really need a new assignment planner for school, and this is the closest I can get to it. However, I also need to be able to see my grades with weighted grading, otherwise it's pointless. I have used Schoolhouse in the past, so I'm not going to resort to using an excel spreadsheet when I know it can be done by someone who pays such little attention to a program. I fly home a lot, and I really like the idea of having my assignments and such on my iPhone so that I don't have to lug my computer around everytime. Other than that, while I'm not in school, this is a good application for everyday tasks. I can see the potential it has for my schoolwork as well.
