Woo Hoo! Can't wait to get home from work and download the new version!! Now get to work on the "no due date" and I'm certainly a happy camper.

Doubtful that it will be in the store that soon. It's only in submitted status. The time frame between submission and availability has been pretty lengthy for just about every application. Cross your fingers, but don't hold your breath. lol

Oh I didn't know that. I'm new to Apple, iPhone, and am getting my first MacBook in a week or two. :( I thought it was already 'submitted' Mybad. Thanks for the info!

Not a problem. We're all new at some point, and all of us here are anxious for the update. I'll be checking for updates frequently in the apps area of iTunes to make sure I catch it as soon as Apple approves and releases it. :)

well done!

this app is bril. love it. expect a donation from me when i get home

i would love to see a windows desktop version. some of us are still stuck there, especially students. why must we continue to be punished?

Thanks, really glad you like it. :D Haha and yea, I know a lot of people want a Windows version, but I have neither the time nor the experience to write one. If someone wants to go ahead and write a version that is similar to the Mac app, go right ahead. :)

a bunch of updates have come/are comming out, will yours be one?
I definitely hope so. Apple is very tight-lipped about their review/submission process, and it can get frustrating at times. The *only* thing I know as a developer is that it's "In Review." There's no ETA, no nothing. I just sit pretty until I get an email saying it's been approved.

Hey guys! My app I've been working on, iProcrastinate Mobile, was just posted to the App Store!

It's free, and is a simple task management app that helps keep track of tasks, homework, etc.

iTunes Link

The icon listed in the iTunes App Store is a bit weird, but it won't show up like that on your iPhone. I've posted a fix anyway though. :)

Give it a download and let me know what you think! If you like it (or even if you don't) review it on the App Store and let everyone else know! Thanks again for all your help with coding, suggestions, comments, etc.

I'll be adding over-the-air synchronization to both versions soon, by popular demand. :D

Good looking app!

Two little suggestions

Hey Craig - that's an awesome app you have! Great for profs as well as students.

Two little things (and I'm sorry if this has been addressed already): can you change the keyboard in the notes section to *not* capitalize every word? It's a nice feature for titles, etc., but notes are usually bullet points or short sentences, which (imho) look kind of Funny Like This :D

Also, if you expanded the size of the "Note" window to fit the text when reviewing each item, you could make the interface a little more streamlined and take out a button press!

Oh, and the new features look amazing! Can't wait for the update...

The keyboard won't capitalize every word in the new update. :) That's an interesting idea with the note, I'll give it a try and see how it looks.

Hey guys, just wanted to announce a new app that should be coming out soon, and I want to get your opinions on it.

It will be called "Quick Task," and when launched, will quickly let you create a Task and change the title, date, etc. The next time iProcrastinate Mobile is opened, it will grab all the new Quick Tasks, and sync them to the database.

A lot of people have wanted a quicker way to add a task, without having to open the app, select a subject, click the "+" button, etc.

I think I'm going to do things "backwards" from most apps. Since iProcrastinate Mobile is the bulk of the functionality, and is being provided for free, would you guys be willing to pay $0.99 for "Add-On's" like this?

That way, people can try out the app, and if they like it, they have the option to purchase additional, inexpensive apps that enhance the functionality. If they don't, then they aren't losing out on anything. I think this is a much better market model than having a "Lite" version or a "Trial" countdown.

Opinions GREATLY appreciated. :)

Rock on. Great idea. I'm there.

Glad to hear it, thanks :)

I would be willing to buy that as well. I'm enjoying iProcrastinate Mobile so far (classes start monday for me).

I have my different school subjects. Say accounting and operations. If I have HW assigned in Operations, I click on that in the subjects, then click on the plus sign. How would this be different than using the add on application? Just fewer button presses? Any other functions?

How do smart groups work? It seems it's just upcoming, I don't see a way to add anything. Are there some cool uses here I'm missing?

If I think you're doing what I think you're doing, you should really read this: http://gizmodo.com/5040509/iphone-21-will-break-openclip-copy-and-paste-between-apps

Basically, 2.1 will stop apps from reading any data from another app, thus rendering your new app useless for 2.1... Just wanted to point this out so that if this is going to cause an issue, you don't get surprised later on.

Wow, THANK YOU for pointing that out, I hadn't heard.

That's nuts. I agree with Apple's stance on protecting application data, but they're really limiting developers here. Why not establish a global shared space that anyone can read/write to? That way, if an app doesn't want its data to be shared, it just won't put it there.

Ah well, back to the drawing board. OpenClip is grasping for air too. They want to store the clipboard information in an address book contact? They had a good fight, but when your idea becomes that convoluted and starts hampering other aspects of the user's device, it's time to step off.

Best. App. Ever. Plain and simple.

Thanks greatly for this application, Craig. I would have gladly paid $5 for it, but free is even better, haha. Keep up the excellent - no - outstanding work.

Shame about 2.1, though. :(

I think this a great model and will probably be copied by others in the future. Have a great 'central' app for free and then add-ons as people wish for a small fee. Brilliant!

Amazing app!
Won't really use it until the 1.1 update though.

I like the Grades idea someone posted..however I'm wary it will start making the app bulky, when the main point was that it wasn't bloated.

When the app becomes more useful for me after these updates (and once a payment comes in to my paypal) I will definitely donate. However, honestly, I don't see myself buying supplement apps for this. I find myself more likely to get something free and donate than buy it because I really get to see how useful it is for me.

Great app though without the supplements. Definitely useful once school starts.
You also asked our opinion on task add...probably too late but I'll add my input.
Click the + to add task. takes you to a box to put in name. Then you edit due date, etc and can then come back to where you clicked +.

If you figured out how to add testers. I'd gladly test for you.

Craig. I love both apps so much and I thank you for them.

Just wanted to know if you had an ETA on syncing between the desktop app and the iPhone App.

That'd be awesome. Keep up the great work.

One thing I found to be a little bit of a problem (I don't know whether someone has picked up on this as I don't fancy reading through 200 posts) is in the Notes section of a task. After pressing space, the shift button is automatically activated. It's not a major issue but would make typing that little bit faster. :)

Yeah, I really like the Grades idea as well. That would seriously make this app every student's best friend. But putting a Grades feature would completely label iProcrastinate Mobile as a "for-students-only" app and I've noticed that there are some users who aren't students.

Perhaps there could be two versions of iProcrastinate Mobile: a student's version (with the Grades feature and maybe more student/school themed features in the future), and a regular version (for those who wouldn't really benefit from a Grades feature or any of the other minor features that were originally added with school assignments in mind.)

The reason I say this is because what limits this app from expanding to its full potential is that we're still not sure which of the two categories of people (students vs. nonstudents) the app is trying to please. And to make matters worse, both groups demand the complete opposite. While people who use the app for less school related purposes (ex. shopping lists/book lists) complain that adding a new task takes too long, students rather appreciate the specific and detailed steps included in creating new tasks and continuously ask for even more school related features. If the app were to then show up with the requested features in response to the students, students will of course completely embrace them, but the other handful of people will find the app just too "bloated".

So instead of having iProcrastinate Mobile as an app in the "middle", I personally think it would be a lot more useful and appealing if it focused on just ONE purpose...either have it go all-out for students or tone it down to suit non-students (but they already have way too many of those organizer apps made for simple everyday tasks, don't you think?..), or just have it split to two separate versions. But if the app were to remain as a single app, I'd rather have it strive for the top-notch student/school organizer because that's the concept that makes iProcrastinate Mobile unique among all other organizer apps.

Student or not?

Hi,

Just wanted to throw my 2 pence/cents worth in.
I have been using iProcrastinate since it's launch date and love it.
I agree with the previous comment about it being tricky to decide whether it becomes a 'student' tool or not.
I personally use it for general task management and the thing that really sets it apart from other apps from me is having multiple layers, I can add a project, break it down into elements and then add the tasks required for each element. This is great for me.
However the adding of Grades and student specific items would add elements that would be of no use and possibly make it more complicated or bloated.
I am not sure on the idea of having 2 separate apps as that would effectively split Craigs users/ratings etc and i think it would make it harder to update multiple apps than a single one.
So my suggestion is this.... (and i know nothing about programing so have no idea how hard this is).
Would it be possible to add a big switch in the settings to say general mode or student mode, and in student mode it just adds the grades elements to the appropriate windows?
This would keep the single app idea and 1 group of users etc..

Just my thoughts, and again thanks and can't wait for the new version and desktop sync.:)

I would also have to respectfully disagree with the two apps idea.
The student on/off switch is a good alternative. It shouldn't be a big change between student and general, perhaps only the grade submission.
Although I'm a student and will use it for classes, one of my subjects is "General Tasks" (ie. send an email to the dean, buy a new calculator, etc)
so it shouldn't be extreme student but also not extreme non-student.
How it is right now is great.
Perhaps when adding a subject, along with name and color, there will be Grades on/off
